SMTP FAIL to external addresses using 2013/o365 hybrid

We have an application sending emails. It always works for domain addresses that are in o365.  It fails every time to external addresses. The application is from a local server on prem and uses a mailbox in o365.  Looking at the message tracking logs,

I get this

'[{LRT=};{LED=550 5.7.64 TenantAttribution; Relay Access Denied};{FQDN=};{IP=}]'

The receive connector on my local exchange server has the IP address for the application server in the Remote Network Settings.

What else can I check?

Doing Exchange CU12, stuck at step 10 'transport service'

Hello, I have a fully functioning Exchange 2013 server.  We upgraded to office 2016 though and since outlook seems to run over HTTP now, we're getting a bunch of weird client side issues.

So I thought I'd upgrade exchange 2013 to the latest patch so I installed CU12. It has proceeded fine but it's 'stuck' at 94% which is step 10 of 18, Mailbox role : Transport Service.  I'd say it's been running for about an hour at this point.

What is step 10 doing, is it hung or should I just leave it?  And how long should I expect to wait?  I have a 15 gig mail store, but about 300 gig in transaction logs just to give some idea of the size of my exchange data (yes obviously there's another issue there i need to look at why they aren't clearing out).

Thanks in advance.

New-PublicFolderMigrationRequest - 2010 to 2013 multiple databases

Hello,

I am in the process of planning my 2010 public folder migration to 2013.  I have a question for the process of running the "New-PublicFolderMigrationRequest" command.  Since I have multiple public folder servers each hosting a database and not all being replicated what is the process to running this command.  For example:

Remote Site A - Server / PublicFolderDBSiteA
Remote Site B - Server / PublicFolderDBSiteB
Remote Site C-  Server / PublicFolderDBSiteC-Active
Remote Site C - Server / PublicFolderDBSiteC-Archive

Remote Site A has a small public folder database that replicates with Remote Site A (Active).  Remote Site B has certain folders that are replicated with Remote Site C- Active.  In addition, Remote site C has a another server which hold public folders that have been archived.

My Folder to mailbox Map CSV looks good as it has picked up all the folders in the Hierarchy I am just unsure if I need to run the New-PublicFolderMigrationRequest script multiple times to on the databases that are not being replicated.

Any pointers here is appreciated.

SCOM error - ECP Health Set unhealthy - Failure Reason - CafeFailure

Hi,

I hope someone can help. I am continually getting SCOM alterts with the above appearing for all 3 of our CAS servers. Also, intermittently, I am unable to logon to the ECP (either using the DNS round robin name given to all the servers, or the server URLs themselves).  The full email is pasted below. Really not got much of a clue on this one and, it would appear, neither does google. Any ideas anyone?

how to remove and re-create user to the same mailbox??

$

One user's account has various problems.

We want to delete the account but NOT delete the associated Exchange 2013 mailbox.

Then we want to recreate the account with the same name and ID but of course different SID, recreate all her permission, and have her use the same Exchange 2013 mailbox.

How do we do this??

The users log into an RDS farm and normally to get the Outlook 2013 started we would click Next Next Next Finish...but that is with new users and mailboxes.

The RDS farm and Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2013 are all on Windows Server 2012 R2, current patches.

What do we do to recreate a current user's account??

Do I just disconnect the mailbox from her account, delete and re-create her in AD, then re-connect her mailbox??

Thank you, Tom

I will be Migrating Exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 , it will be a cross forest migration.

Following are the details:

DOMAIN A ( Source Domain)

Exchange 2007 SP3

2 2012 R2 DCS

DOMAIN B (Target Domain)

Exchange 2013 2MBX and 2 CAS servers

4 DCS 2012 R2

I have already created  the two way trust between both the domains. Migrated few test user using ADMT and Password Export

Also the PS Powershell script. It says mailbox Ready to move

I started the remote move request and it gives the following Error:

The call to 'https://exchange.domainA.local/EWS/mrsproxy.svc' failed. Error details: Could not establish trust
relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority 'exchange.alfahad.local'. --> The underlying connection was

Cannot search notes field in Public Folder contacts

So strange issue here.

Edit a contact in public folders (phone number) and you can search for it with no issues.

Edit a the notes field in a public folder contact, you cannot search for that text.

Is this normal behavior? I have a client upgraded from 2010 and did not have issues searching the notes field. My client is using this as a CRM solution so I need to figure out how to get Exchange 2013 to search the notes field.

Intermittent issue - The database 'Mailbox Datbase ' to be accessed on server 'fqdn' is not mounted or is not available.

Hi, I hope i've posted in the correct area.

I'm having a few issues with exchange server 2013. Users within our organisation have been intermittently receiving the message 'Trying to connect' in Outlook 2010/2013 before the status returns to the usual 'Connected to Exchange'. Upon investigation, I have found that I receive the message "The database 'Mailbox Datbase <databasenumber>' to be accessed on server 'fqdn' is not mounted or is not available" when running commands in Exchange management shell. When I reboot the exchange server, the issue goes away and everything returns to normal. But after and hour or so, the issue returns and requires a reboot to fix.

I am also finding that after a reboot, some of the mailboxes end up quarantined and I need to run these commands to fix the issue:

1. Get-Mailbox | Get-MailboxStatistics | Where {$_.IsQuarantined –eq $True}
2.  Disable-MailboxQuarantine <username>

This issue appears to have arisen out of no-where (except for maybe a stray windows update).

Technical details:

- Exchange Server is running on a Server 2012 R2 VM, running on Hyper V Core Server 2012 R2.

- Exchange Server is installed on the DC (Yes, i'm aware this isn't recommended, but small businesses have to make sacrifices to suit their budget)

I hope someone can give me some answers as i've been sitting here pulling my hair out for the past few days!

Thanks,
Manning

Domain and Exchange migration?

$

We have two domains we will call them Domain A and Domain B.

Domain A is our current domain and is at a 2008 level. It currently contains all of our user, computers, groups, and our Exchange 2010 email server.

Domain B is a new domain at a 2012 level and will have an Exchange 2013 environment. All of our users, computers, and groups (everything) have to be migrated to this new domain and Domain A will be decommissioned. I could use a little advice on how to do this as smoothly as possible.

My plan is to setup a full two way trust between the two domains and then use ADMT or other tools to migrate all of our users, computers, and groups to Domain B while leaving the users mailboxes on the current exchange 2010 system in Domain A. Once the migration of the users, computers, and groups are migrated to Domain B I would then migrate the mailboxes from the exchange 2010 environment in Domain A to the exchange 2013 environment in Domain B. What recommendations would you have so that our  users have the least amount of downtime with their email? Are there any Exchange specific items that need to be setup, either in Domain A or Domain B, so that I can easily migrate between the two environments?

Thanks,

Using PowerShell to create multiple dynamic dist groups but variables not expanding.

I need to create about 300 dynamic distribution lists (oh joy) and am trying to use PoSH to do so but having some problems with the variables inside the -recipientfilter not expanding i'm pretty sure its due to the curly brackets but nothing I have tried has worked so far.

Basically I am trying to do this:

$Dept = 'Technician Production'
$Branch = "10"
New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name $Branch$Dept -RecipientFilter {(RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox'-and (Office -like "$Branch*" -or CustomAttribute2 -like "*$Branch*") -and (Department -like "$Dept" -or CustomAttribute1 -like "*$Dept*"))}

which creates the list but none of the variables are expanded.

Once I can get this working i'll add the parts for reading from a csv and looping through it to create all the lists but that part I can usually do fairly easy.

Thanks for any assistance!

Hi!

Isn't there an option in Exchange 2010 to automatically forward a CC to some people if the mail is sent to a distribution group. The only option I could find is "sent to a member of a distribution group" which will also send the cc if the email is sent to any member of that group.

Thanks.

Application Mail sending issue - Internal Server Error

$

Hello All,

We have an issue while sending a mail from Application. Everyday we have around 100 mail sending failures out of 1000 mails.

Configuration:
Application - Customized Tool
Mail Send through - EWS Internal URL
AD account - AD\admin (Shared Mailbox)
Email address - Test.Application@exchange.com

Error Message in Application Tool:
> An internal server error occurred. Try again later.
> The request failed. Exchange Web Services are not currently available for this request because none of the Client Access Servers in the destination site could process the request.
>The request failed. The request failed. Read timed out

How do we fix these issues? How do I verify that the connection is being timed out or server has rejected any mails from the application? Could someone help me through which logs I should be able to trace the error messages?
And also should we check IIS logs as well? I'm trying through EWS logs but could find any trace for the AD account "AD\admin". Please help!
Thanks in Advance!

Never giveup till you get what to want.

Sent/Recieved Mail will always route to broken server in the same AD site, even when we tell it not to.

Hello,

Some time ago we experienced a failure with our sole on-premise mail server (HQ-Mail), giving us reason to migrate to a new one (HQ-Mail2) so we can decommission or repair the old one. Presently, all mailboxes exist on HQ-Mail2, and we have tried to copy as much as the old configuration as possible; all the virtual directories are the same, every Receive Connector has been replicated there, and HQ-Mail2 has been added to the original Send Connector. Additionally, all network/dns routing has been configured so our customers are connecting to the new mail server instead of the old one, and all external emails are being passed directly to it from our mail-forwarder (no-ip). We have even assigned fresh certificates to it.

Mail is flowing and being delivered without issue, but for some reason we're seeing all mail being sent first to HQ-Mail2 as expected, but then being passed on to HQ-Mail. After which, it then either goes out to the Internet, or is delivered from HQ-Mail directly to the intended mailbox (being passed back to HQ-Mail2).

If we attempt to remove HQ-Mail from the send connector, outbound mail stops flowing (Sits in the Unreachable queue) until we add it back, so we're hesitant to shut it down for repairs and we're not sure where else to look for troubleshooting. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time,

Canezar

Edited Additional Information:

We are using the default send connector; where it used to only be HQ-Mail in the connector, we have added HQ-Mail2 as well - there are no smarthosts or network appliances for external emails. The DNS settings for both machines are the same and I am able to resolve both internal and external hosts on HQ-Mail2. I also took the liberty this evening to test the mailflow with HQ-Mail offline, and nothing is delivered as we had suspected - whether it is outbound or inbound.

How to Track Sent Emails?

$

Hi,

For a single account, hello@example.com, I'm looking for multiple people to use this account for outreach emails. Emails to potential customers. Yet I want to ensure that duplicate emails are not sent to the same potential customer as this looks unprofessional.

When sending emails via a single Outlook desktop client, the recipient reminder popup is handy, although this doesn't sync between devices.

So wondering what people would recommend to keep track of this process? Is there anything Microsoft Hosted Exchange related that can be configured? Or possibly an external service that people have used before which integrates with Exchange or an Outlook Account?

Regards,

Michael
