We migrated our 2010 Exchange server database from another domain (A) using Quest tools, into a new domain (B) and left a two way trust between them (A<==>B). Last summer when the trust was broken mail to users in domain B stopped working.
We have noticed several have custom attributes in 14 and 15 that we believe are some sort of artifacts left over.
Custom attribute 14: ID:DEF09989C3CB994BA1A004BA3B882CAB/CF:/A:{3D98DC35-4F80-4deb-B8AD-37C8950CD514}_INACTIVE
Custom attribute 15: D6C7D672C3CE7645A6C9E4F195D5EFB7
We know that there have been other issues that are believed to be around these 'artifacts' and have fixed it by disconnecting the mailbox then reconnecting them. However, we have to break the trust again in two weeks and don't have time to perform this action on 2000+ mailboxes.
Does anyone have any idea on:
- Do these custom attributes have anything to do with the issue?
- Any idea, other than MX records pointing to the wrong server, why mail would stop working when we break the AD trust?
