Exchange 2013 EMS access denied errors

Hello all,

I have a strange issue. When executing a cmdlet like Get-OWAVirtualDirectory on a Exchange 2013 server, I see this error: An IIS directory entry couldn't be created. The error message is Access is denied.

.HResult = -2147024891

And this for all (2010 and 2013) OWA virtual directories.

In a Windows Powershell with the Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Powershell.SnapIn added, the command does show the virtual directories after running the cmdlet.

The EMS (or how is it called nowadays: EAC?) has the same error as the EMS.

I have seen in other forum entries (about Exchange 2010 / 2007) that is has something to do with RBAC and the Exchange Trusted Subsytem group. I can confirm that all Exchange servers are member of this group and that the group is in the local administrators group of all exchange servers.

I'd like some help troubleshooting this.

Regards,

Stephan van der Plas

Exchange 2013 / CU1 - IIS problems with ApplicationHost.config several times

Dear all,

I have installed MS Exchange 2013 and MS Exchange 2013 CU1 several times (maybe 10 times) on Exchange 2012 servers in different test environments. Sometimes the Error  "C:\Windows\system32\inetsrv\config\ApplicationHost.Config'. The configuration file may be corrupted."." was shown directly after the installion, or in some cases Exchange 2013 was running fine a view days or weeks and suddenly the Exchange Server 2013 is offline and shows this error in the event log. What is going wrong here, because I think this a generally bug?

How to move Mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013?

I know I need to install SP3 for Exchange 2010 and CU1 for Exchange 2013.

I two separate domains, in two separate forests.

To move mailboxes between these two separate infrastructures, would a Trust be necessary? Or can I simply follow these instructions: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee633491%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx

The calendar items are disappear when importing PST to Exchange 2013 mailbox

Please help to verify this issue - Importing PST file to Exchange 2013 server both via EAC and EMS, I found the calendar items are disappear.

In the past, I could import PST file to Exchange 2010 using commandNew-MailboxImportRequest

Mail and calendar items could be transferred

At the present, Ifaced the problem in importing PST file to Exchange 2013 user mailbox and archive folder.

I have assigned the permission - Import/Export mailbox role in Exchange 2013 EAC then try to import PST via EAC and EMS usingNew-MailboxImportRequest

Both ways give the status failed. The message in Inbox and folder could be imported but the calendar items could not.

When verify the result using commandGet-MailboxImportRequestStatistics

We found the calendar items has been detected as bad items.

Try again to add mailbox permission with the full access to all mailboxes using EMS like this

Get-Mailbox | Add-MailboxPermission –user Administrator –AccessRight FullAccess –Inheritancetype all

And work withNew-MailboxImportRequest with optionIncludeFolders "#Calendar#\*" or change the value of BadItemLimit from default (0) to large size (20000000),we found the result is complete but could not see calendar items.

Immediate solving, at each client, Ineed to open PST file and manual copy the calendar items to calendar folder in mailbox instead. But there are still many mailboxes and consume a lot of time.

Please help to verify this issue, anything that I missed. Anyway to process bulk import PST files.

A.Worawan

Exchange 2013 - Cannot send any mail (inside/outside), stay in Drafts

Hello,

I have installed two independent Exchange 2013 servers. They both run as virtual machine in Hyper-V. One has Server 2008 R2 and Exchange Server 2013 RTM and second has Server 2012 and Exchange Server 2013 CU1.

I made some basic settings - reconfigured Receive Connectors, created Send Connector, set internal and external addresses for virtual directories, change SSL certificate and installed and configured antispam agents - ./install-AntispamAgents.ps1

Both are experiencing same problem - I cannot send any e-mail, inside or outside organization, they all stay in Drafts folder, I tried it from OWA.

I have not tried it when it was clean installation.

Where could be a problem?

Exchange, SBS 2008 - autodiscover

Scenario:

Main Office with Exchange 2010 server working perfectly (mainoffice.domain.com). A ship with SBS 2008 (server.ship.local) that does not have a public domain, but the mail addresses is the same as at the main office. With a poor dial-up line, they use a pop-grabber to get mail from main office.

Now they get a autodiscover error about main office domain is not found. Can anyone give some advise on how to solve this?

I have 2 server DAG setup. One of the databases just refuses to come up after a power failuer. Server1 was active and Server2 db statues was healthy.

After a power failure both the databases are dismounted. All other databases are up and mounted.

Ran the eseutil and both databases showed celan shutdown but for some reason i am not able to mount it on either of the servers.

Custom Exchange 2010 RBAC for Hide from Exchange Address Lists and Message size restriction

Dear Fellows,

I need to create a custom RBAC management role on Exchange 2010. Rights required are to allow the helpdesk staff to enable/disable the "Hide from Exchange Address Lists" and apply message size restrictions to Exchange mailboxes.

Does any one know which ManagementRole/ManagementRoleEntry I need to use as a parent, for my custom ManagementRole?

Any thoughts/help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

Exchange 2013 Receiving Email Problem?

I'm rather new to MS Exchange, and i have set everything up from a fresh install. I have no problems sending email to most external accounts, I set up the send connector with some guides I found online. Anyhow when it comes to sending email from exchange to our current hosted email it does not go through. It might have something to do with the exchange server having the same address as our old email.. not sure if that's a problem, since I couldn't find anything online about that. Now as far as getting email to come through on the exchange server, I'm unable to figure it out. I worked with the receive connector by deleting the one that came with the fresh install, and made a new one that I though would work. When I test my exchange set up on testexchangeconnectivity this is what I come up with..

Testing inbound SMTP mail flow for domain Administrator@ashinc.com.
Inbound SMTP mail flow was verified successfully.

Test Steps

Attempting to retrieve DNS MX records for domain ashincdotcom.
One or more MX records were successfully retrieved from DNS.

Additional Details
MX Records Host maildotashincdotcom, Preference 10

Testing Mail Exchanger maildotashincdotcom.
This Mail Exchanger was tested successfully.

Test Steps

Attempting to resolve the host name maildotashincdotcom in DNS.
 The host name resolved successfully.

Additional Details
 IP addresses returned: 64.150.191.72

Testing TCP port 25 on host maildotashincdotcom to ensure it's listening and open.
 The port was opened successfully.

Additional Details

Analyzing SMTP Capabilities for server maildotashincdotcom:25
The test passed with some warnings encountered. Please expand the additional details.

Additional Details

Attempting to send a test email message to Administrator@ashinc using MX maildotashincdotcom.
The test email message was delivered successfully.

Testing the MX maildotashincdotcom for open relay by trying to relay to user Admin@TestExchangeConnectivity
The Open Relay test passed. This MX isn't an open relay.

Additional Details
The open relay test message delivery failed, which is a good thing.
The exception detail:
Exception details:

any ideas on what i can do to receive email?

ECP still accessible if URL Rewriter is in use

Hi guys,

I've implemented few URL Rewrite rules within IIS, like "Force HTTP to HTTPS", "auto redirect to /owa", etc. All good with it, but now I can't disable ECP (Exchange Admin Center) for access from inside\outside. I mean, that Exchange Admin Center page is accessible, but provides access to personal settings (Outlook Web App: account, organize email, groups, etc.), instead of404 – website not found error or real admin center. To do it, I have to disable all URL Rewrite rules.

In my case internal and external URLs are the same.

Does anybody saw and solved that issue? Or maybe you can advise how to disable Admin Center only from internet access?

Thanks,

Nick

Sorting in Hierarchical Address Book on Exchange 2013

I'm creating a HUB. For groups I set SeniorityIndex, but for users it is not set.

When the Outlook 2013 connects to the exchange server first time, all users are sorted in alphabetical order (Display Name). This is ok. (PhoneticDisplayName value isn't set)

But when Outlook 2013 loads OAB (cached), all users are sorted by creation date.

I want all users in the HAB sorting order to the DisplayName parameter value and lists the users in ascending alphabetical order.
(But I do not want to set all users SeniorityIndex)

Please, help

Dears,

has posted a script here Website   , The code will search the Active Directory and find all Exchange server in the Organization then check when was the last time each Database has been backed up, the code goes like this

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On Error Resume Next
set conn = createobject("ADODB.Connection")
set mdbobj = createobject("CDOEXM.MailboxStoreDB")
set pdbobj = createobject("CDOEXM.PublicStoreDB")
set com = createobject("ADODB.Command")
Set iAdRootDSE = GetObject("LDAP://RootDSE")
strNameingContext = iAdRootDSE.Get("configurationNamingContext")
Conn.Provider = "ADsDSOObject"
Conn.Open "ADs Provider"
mbQuery = "<LDAP://" & strNameingContext & ">;(objectCategory=msExchPrivateMDB);name,distinguishedName;subtree"
pfQuery = "<LDAP://" & strNameingContext & ">;(objectCategory=msExchPublicMDB);name,distinguishedName;subtree"
Com.ActiveConnection = Conn
Com.CommandText = mbQuery
Set Rs = Com.Execute
Wscript.echo "Mailbox Stores"
Wscript.echo
While Not Rs.EOF
mdbobj.datasource.open "LDAP://" & Rs.Fields("distinguishedName")
Wscript.echo Rs.Fields("name") & " Last Backed Up : " & mdbobj.LastFullBackupTime
wscript.echo
Rs.MoveNext

Wend
Wscript.echo "Public Folder Stores"
Wscript.echo
Com.CommandText = pfQuery
Set Rs1 = Com.Execute
While Not Rs1.EOF
pdbobj.datasource.open "LDAP://" & Rs1.Fields("distinguishedName")
Wscript.echo Rs1.Fields("name") & " Last Backed Up : " & pdbobj.LastFullBackupTime
wscript.echo
Rs1.MoveNext

Wend
Rs.Close
Rs1.close
Conn.Close
set mdbobj = Nothing
set pdbobj = Nothing
Set Rs = Nothing
Set Rs1 = Nothing
Set Com = Nothing
Set Conn = Nothing

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My question is: is there any way to enable the script to read all Exchange Servers in the organization from a file ?

Missing outbound emails

Good morning.

Form Exchange 2013 installation (fresh installation on a new server; old Exchange 2010 server dismiss and AD cleaned) I found some GREAT problems in sending mails: when clients send internal mails (but sometimes external mails also), MS Outlook (both 2013 and 2010) report "sending" but non mail came to recipient. In Tracking Log (Exchange console) there is no track of the mail. It seems to miss form Outlook to Exchange... As said, this happen for internal mails principally, but sometimes for extenal send also... I configured Exchange to use smarthost to send mails, and Hub Transport for receive connector. CU1 installed.

What can I try???

Thanks...

TLS

Exchange 2010

I am trying to set up TLS and have managed to get it up and running. We have a requirement to force TLS to specific domains but are unsure at to how to do this as there is so much differing information.

1. if we use Set-TransportConfig, does this SET TLS for only the domains listed in the TLSService lists, and allow non secure emails to still be sent and received to/from  domains not in the lists.

2. Before populating the lists, we wanted to make sure that we could clear the lists , if we could no longer receive non TLS emails from domains outside of the secure list. We have tried the following ( domain name changed for security )

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Set-TransportConfig TLSreceivedomainsecurelist null
A positional parameter cannot be found that accepts argument 'null'.
    + CategoryInfo          : InvalidArgument: (:) [Set-TransportConfig], ParameterBindingException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : PositionalParameterNotFound,Set-TransportConfig
    + PSComputerName        : xxx.xxxxxxxx.com

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Set-TransportConfig TLSreceivedomainsecurelist $null
A positional parameter cannot be found that accepts argument '$null'.
    + CategoryInfo          : InvalidArgument: (:) [Set-TransportConfig], ParameterBindingException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : PositionalParameterNotFound,Set-TransportConfig
    + PSComputerName        : xxx.xxxxxxxx.com
