We have migrated form Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 a year ago with no issues. All Exchange legacy servers uninstalled with no issues. We had an issue today were emails sent to mail-enabled public folder was returning NDRs. This happened on two or three and then trickled down thorugh several public folders. This client has several public folders and uses them for business processes. There have been 100s of incidents now.
Symtoms:
E-mail messages that been sent to mail-enabled public folder in Exchange Server 2010 environment rejected with the following NDR:
#554 5.2.0 STOREDRV.Deliver.Exception:ObjectNotFoundException; Failed to process message due to a permanent exception with message The Active Directory user wasn't found. ObjectNotFoundException: The Active Directory user wasn't found. ##
We are getting the following Event log messages on Hub transport servers.
Log Name: Application
Source: MSExchange Store Driver

Actions:
We have executed the following steps.
1. Start the ADSI Edit MMC Snap-in. Click Start, then Run, and type adsiedit.msc, and then click OK.
2. Connect & Expand the Configuration Container [YourServer.DNSDomainName.com], and then expand CN=Configuration,DC=DNSDomainName,DC=com.
3. Expand CN=Services, and then CN=Microsoft Exchange, and then expand CN=YourOrganizationName.
4. You will see an empty Administrative Group. Expand the CN=YourAdministrativeGroupName.
5. Expand CN=Servers.
6. Verify there are no server objects listed under the CN=Servers container.
7. Right click on the empty CN=Servers container and choose Delete.
8. Verify the modification, and try to send again the E-mail to the mail-enabled public folder.
To no avail the issue still exists.
We have not rebooted the servers and plan to in the early morning.
We have dismounted/mounted public folder DBs
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Mail arrives at Exchange server we know this because we have logging turned on, but the mail appears to go into limbo for anything up to 2 hours before it gets delivered to users mail box, there is no difference between outlook client or if the user logs on using owa, the email is not shown. when exchange does decide which it does it will deliver all messages it has received in one go so all show up with in 30 seconds at the same time in users in box. we have put on the recent Exchange SP1 hopping this would solve the issue, the server is brand new and has 2tb of storage available CPU is hardly doing anything. all other aspects of server are normal file shares printing etc. Just mail delivery is VERY VERY slow and then it all comes at once.
We have tried restarting the server some times this does help other occasions it makes not difference. server has I3-3420 cpu with 16gb ram. This is driving us bonkers please can some body give us some guidance as what to do check or alter.
Thanks in advance.

If this isn't the proper place for this thread, then please let me know where it should go.
I noticed that EWS Java 1.2 has been marked with an Apache 2.0 license. Let me just say this...
FINALLY!
If ever there was a project that needed it, it's EWS Java. That API has seemingly turned into abandonware and the old license forbade redistribution of modified source, so the many bugs in it had to be independently fixed by devs around the world. Not fun. With a proper open source license, this problem can be alleviated.
HOWEVER...
After downloading the zip file from the new EWS Java page, I've found that while the Apache 2.0 license is present in the root directory, the earlier and more restrictive license is still present in the project directory. This introduces ambiguity into the
license terms. Not good. I would not be comfortable redistributing modified (or even original) source code with this kind of ambiguity, even if it's just an oversight on Microsoft's part. Please remove the old license entirely from the API.
Also, if possible, can this get an official repository? The new license is great, but with only a zip file as an "official" source, it's begging for fragmentation across who-knows-how-many repositories and accounts, especially since it's not even a proper Maven project.
I'd love to do some work on EWS Java myself (I've already fixed a number of bugs), but with the license issues and lack of an official repository, that doesn't seem terribly feasible.

The majority of these are spam. Here is the the message from mail.haugenlaw.com:

Hi
We have an empty root domain. Mailbox users & Exchange 2013 servers are in a child domain.
As per Microsoft's documentation; we want to create the "ContentSubmitters" group in AD for content index to work properly (article 2807668). However I do not know where to create it!!! The article doesn't address it.
Does it go on the root domain where default exchange groups reside OR OR OR OR OR does it go on child domain where exchange servers reside?????
Thanks
When I try to migrate a mailbox, I get this error:
Cannot open mailbox /o=XXXX/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=servername/cn=Microsoft System Attendant
We are utilizing 3rd party software to generate reports and email results. Unfortunately, the software cannot be configured to execute at a specific time, date only. This means that some reports are being processed and delivered at 12:00 am. For business reasons, management would prefer that those emails not be sent at midnight.
We are looking for a solution that would allow the messages to be generated at midnight but not be delivered by Exchange until several hours later.
Is there any way to set a deferred delivery option server side in Exchange? It can be set through Outlook, but only applies to mail sent from Outlook.
Any advise or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hello, I have an edge server in my dmz (Exchange 2013 SP1). (simple dmz design with one nic on edge server and dns lookup internal (just to test)) and want to configure an ip blocklist provider spamhause.org. Following when I try to test the configuration:
PS] D:\Exchange Server\V15>test-ipblocklistprovider zen.spamhaus.org -ipaddress 67.215.65.132
ARNING: An unexpected error has occurred and a Watson dump is being generated: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
est-ipblocklistprovider : Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Event viewer gives me this:

Get-networkconnectioninfo gives me this:
I have checked to make sure it is the correct guid by using netsh lan show interfaces
When I run get-transportservice | fl *dns* the following:

I would think that this config is ok. I have manually entered the external and internal guid, external and internal dns ip addresses. They are in a remote subnet behind a firewall. Normal nslookup to zen.spamhaus.org gives me ok results, so firewall should

Transport servervice is restarted and server restarted as well. I have hardened the OS (2012 R2) with Security config wizard, but enabled and started ALL the service again to test. No result.
Anyone any idea?

Exchange 2013 SP1 with all roles installed. How do i find who's mailbox this belongs to:
a13353c7-6430-4779-a4a6-4de618d7f6e7@our.exchangebox.com
That long number before the @, how do i find out whose mailbox/account that is?
Is that a best practice?
10MB seems small since it as been that size with us for at least 5 years and file sizes and mailboxes are getting larger.
I wonder about the time wasted finding other ways send files to external users that may be any size from 11MB to 20+MB.
However, I don't want to cause network problems or have Exchange performance suffer if it chokes and bogs on larger attachments.
Also, we don't want our size limits to be above "norms," because that will only cause a new problem of message bounce backs because the recipients mail servers will reject these large messages coming from us as oversized due to the limits on their side.
So, what is a good message size limit for 2014 that we can expect most other organizations to be able to accept?
Hello Everybody.
I'm looking for a community or fellows partners to whom I could extend my exchange deployment and generate a federated trust. I know I could do this by myself but I just want to have a different experience and share and collaborate with other wise experts.
Thanks.
Hi Team,
Am using Windows 7 with MS office 2013, I have installed DRMS addin in my laptop and also i enabled DRMS addin from outlook 2013 File-> options-> Add-ins enabled DRMS Popup. Even i enabled this, while i sending mail DRMS not popup to send mail as NO restriction and Do Not Forward. Mail sending normally, kindly help on this to POP UP.
Hi,
I have DAG enabled Exchange Server 2010 installed with three mailbox databases having sizes 282GB,162GB and 129GB respectively. I have started with a total of 250GB in 2010 and now it has reached a size more than 650GB.
It has become very difficult to take the backup of such huge database files now and restoring it in case of a DR.
Presently I have not enabled online archiving in any of these mailboxes mainly because most of the PCs are installed with outlook 2007 which doesn't show online archive.Of course OWA is another candidate to see those mails.
Please suggest a best practice to reduce the size of these mailbox databases without losing any of the mails.
Thanks
Thomas
Hello everyone,
I am having some trouble with our Exchange 2007.
Since some days ago I am having extrange troubles with out Exchange 2007 server. Users are been asked to write their user and password very oftenly, and I don't know the reason. Additionaly I have realised the OAB is not downloading properly in any Outlook client. If I try to do it I am given an error number0x8004010F
I have been checking exhange server 2007 event viewer and I found a 80040115 error saying OALGen found an error accessing public folders while trying to generate OAL
Another error comes out inmediately after saying to check if Public folder store is mounted and there are replicas of Address Lists folders.
Another event viewer error says there was a problema trying to update availability information for the public folder in the virtual machine NAMESERVER
We have other 3 Exchange 2003 servers which I cannot remove because of an application we are using, accessing to them. As long as I know public flders are stored in Exchange 2007 server and not replicated in any other server, so I don't know if this has something to do with the error.
Any idea of what might be going on?
Thank you very much.
Best regards,
David.
