Chinese characters in Email content

Hello,

I have an Exchange 2013 server hosted on-premises. User A sent an Email to User B. User B received the message content successfully in English. When the User B replied back to the User A from the iPhone, the message content of the User A in the reply message appears to be in Chinese for some reason. I have provided the sample content below, does anyone else come across a similar scenario?

Public Folders Not Showing

Hi all,

Am at the end of my migration which has been relatively good and have now migrated all public folders. However they display to internal users and not external. Looking at it I suspect it is obviously autodiscover related however using testconnectivity.microsft.com I get green tickets for autodiscover and can setup accounts fine using it.

I have checked the public folder and have given it an smtp address off publicfolder@domain.com so that it is autodiscover  resolvable. This is obviously the same domain as the domain of my mailbox e.g. test@domain.com

I am using Outlook 2013 and the public folder doesn't display at all, not even to try and expand. Have tried setting up a new profile and have also tried removing the smtp address. Have now tried with a second domain that has public folder and this has the same issue but is again view able internally.

Any ideas?

Exchange 2007 to 2013 - are there any hidden system mailboxes that I need to be aware of to move before finalizing my migration?

Hello all,

I am finishing up my 2007 to 2013 migration. Looking in the EAC new migration wizard when doing a move to new database, I see all mailboxes are now listed as being on the 2013 database.

So really basic question - am I done moving all mailboxes over to 2013? Are there any hidden system mailboxes I need to move manually? Last exchange migration I did was a 2003 server to 2010 and if I remember correct there were system mailboxes that needed to be moved. I was just wondering if there is anything I need to watch out for with 2007 as well?

Thanks!

At this time we have decided to hold off upgrading our servers and Exchange untill Windows Server 2016 is made available.  My question is whethter or not Exchange Server 2016 will be supported on Windows Server 2016 at release or shortly thereafter (possibly through a CU) and if I must wait how long a wait am I in for?

Thanks in advance,

Unable to open ECP with server FQDN.. Error executing child request for /owa/auth/errorFE.aspx

I am facing a weird issue..

I stood up a new server on a remote site and am trying to access it's ECP using the server FQDN but I get an error message within IE saying "Error executing child request for /owa/auth/errorFE.aspx

I figured I'd try with my existing servers, I am getting the same thing. The only way I can get into ECP is by using the External address..

Figured I would have a look at the ECP Virtual Directory through the shell but when I try to get the authentication information, it takes forever and doesn't return results... If I try through ECP (using the external address), I cannot open the auth page, I get the please wait box for hours..

Anyone ever experienced this?

Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable - Possible Exchange issue?

My users are running Outlook 2013, the exchange server has Exchange 2007. They are unable to use Out of Office in Outlook. If they use OWA it works fine but if they use Outlook they get a message "your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable. try again later."

Please Help!

will there be any impact for my users or external senders if authenticated users with read rights are removed from the security tab on c:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Mailbox\address share folder?

Hi,

My management wants to tighten the security rights on the on c:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Mailbox\address share folder. Will there be any impact on the mail delivery or other issues will occur for my users or external senders if authenticated users with read rights are removed from the security tab on the c:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Mailbox\address folder?

OK - How do you access Public Folders?

So I have my RTM environment build, and I have my public folder mailbox setup and folders created.

I've granted my test user access via EAC. However when I go in via OWA or Outlook 2013, I do not see them anywhere.

Is there some magic to getting access to these? I tried also going to open another mailbox but I was under the assumption they would show up just like they did in previous versions? At least it did from some of the screenshots I've seen.

CAS servers in separate city's

Hi, what are the options for deploying multiple CAS servers, same country but in separate datacenter's in separate cities?

I thought GeoDNS might do the trick, but that seems limited to continental regions, and there doesn't appear to be many providers in NZ.

The aim is to have the following:

CAS1 - Residing in DC1 in City 1 - Companies in this City, or proximity will connect to this server as their MBX server is located in this DC as well.

CAS2 - Residing in DC2 in City 2 - Companies in this City, or proximity will connect to this server as their MBX server is located in this DC as well.

If a user in City 1 goes to City2, they will still go through CAS1 as this is the default for their site because they are only there temporarily. I think I could use Netmask ordering internally (for Citrix/RDS etc) based on origin subnet but that doesn't solve the issue for external clients.

This is a multi-tennant environment. Any ideas appreciated.

Non-mail enable acounts in Distribution groups

Hello

I have the issue by were we are using some AD account as role based templates. These templates are members of distribution groups for example 'All employees' but these account don't have mailboxes.

The issue we are getting is when sending to 'All employees' it give the sender a bounce back because there is no mailbox associated with this account.

Apart from enabling all out role base template accounts and having some way to purge the emails sent to them is there any settings that can be done to accommodate this?

Details:

Server 2008 R2 running on premises Exchange 2010 sp2

Client Windows 7 running MS Outlook 2010

the only other way it setting up in SCORCH a query that based on this role the new account will be added to these email groups. but this adds a lot of complexity to and already complex Orchestration.

Thank you

Hi All

We have recently gone through the process of uploading user photos to Exchange 2013.

Users are able to change there own photos via OWA.

How can we stop this? Can we allow certain users to update other photos, these users will not be members of IT?

Tracking messages in the two-CAS environment

Hello!

There are two CAS servers - Exch1 and Exch2, the user connection point - mail.testcompany.com - uses dns round-robin to point either to Exch1 or Exch2. Outbound internet connector resides on Exch1.

User3 connects to https://mail.testcompany.com (this time that was Exch1) and sends two test messages (one of them to the outside receipient). I want to make sure I can find these messages in the logs.

Exch1:

- that's what I'm expecting to  see.

Exch2:

Q1: Why do both exchange servers show these two messages - as far as I get it a single message can't be sent through two servers simulteniously?

Q2: Why does Exchange GUI shows both messages while PS only one?

Thank you in advance,

Michael

Shared Mailbox Migration O365 - Permission issue

$

Hi Folks, need small help or pointers related to shared mailbox permissions during migration to office 365 (exchange 2013 Hybrid)

The Case is :

In Exchange 2010 we have Security groups , Distributing group and Security group that are mail Enabled ( mix of first 2) .And we can use all these groups for granting access rights on (shared) mailboxes

In Exchange Online we only can use Mail enabled groups/objects to grant rights to mailboxes; so Distributing group andSecurity group that are mail Enabled

So Before we migrate a (shared) mailbox we must be ensure that the configured rights remain.. so we must verify that only Online support groups are used

So Can one help here how we can do that; see I have below script that user to report but this still requires a manual checks of groups, if we could find script something that has email address as parameter and then does lookup of mailbox config and verify if the listed object are mail-enabled groups.

$OutFile="C:\Temp\PermissionExport.txt""DisplayName"+"^"+"Alias"+"^"+"Full Access"+"^"+"Send As"|Out-File$OutFile-Force $Mailboxes= Get-Mailbox -RecipientTypeDetails SharedMailbox -ResultSize:Unlimited |Select Identity, Alias, DisplayName, DistinguishedNameForEach($Mailboxin$Mailboxes){$SendAs= Get-ADPermission $Mailbox.DistinguishedName |?{$_.ExtendedRights -like"Send-As"-and$_.User -notlike"NT AUTHORITY\SELF"-and!$_.IsInherited}|%{$_.User}$FullAccess= Get-MailboxPermission $Mailbox.Identity |?{$_.AccessRights -eq"FullAccess"-and!$_.IsInherited}|%{$_.User} $Mailbox.DisplayName +"^"+$Mailbox.Alias +"^"+$FullAccess+"^"+$SendAs|Out-File$OutFile-Append}

New to Exchange, Fundamental Question... Maybe you know the answer?

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I'm trying to wrap my head around some of the Exchange 2013 concepts.

I currently have an Exchange 2013 Server in the LAN.

I also have an Edge Transport Server in the DMZ.

I subscribed the Edge Transport Server to the Exchange 2013.

It sends mail out, without issue.

Inbound email does not work.  I believe I know why...

The Edge Transport Server has a single Receive Connector (When I type Get-ReceiveConnector it shows one Receive Connector only with the name of EdgeInternal)   I had removed the defaults, and created this EdgeInternal to handle anonymous email from the Internal network.  Since this doesn't accept emails from non-internal IP addresses, it denies email from the outside.  So I am of the mind that I need another ReceiveConnector on the Edge Transport Server.  (Which was probably the default)

Now, I can create a new ReceiveConnector on the Edge Transport Server.  That is no problem.  But, when I look at the Exchange 2013 Mailbox Server's Admin page, I notice that in Mail Flow -> Receive Connectors that I have multiple Receive Connectors there that the Edge Transport server does not have.  But these are assigned to the "FrontendTransport" according to the Mailbox Server admin page.

So why don't these show up in the Edge Transport Get-ReceiveConnectors?  Obviously they aren't there.

I pretty much expect that I'm doing something wrong here...

Do I remove all of the Edge Transport Receive Connectors in the Edge Transport Shell?  And does it then default to the rules that are setup in the Mailbox server?

Or, is there something I need to do to synchronize the receive connectors (Probably all the connectors) with the Edge Transport Server?

I'm missing something fundamental here on how this is supposed to work and I'm hoping one of you guru's can clue me in.

Thanks!

Mail Flow from Edge to Primary Mailbox server and Archive Mailbox Server

$

Hello,

Exchange 2010 Edge Server properly SP'ed and Patched:  EDGE01
Exchange 2013 Primary Mailbox Server:  MB01
Exchange 2013 Archive Mailbox Server:  ARCHMB01

Mailflow from the EDGE01 to MB01 appear to be working just fine.  In some instances it appears that the edge server is trying to deliver messages to the Archive Mailbiox server, ARCHMB01.  WHen this occures, external senders are reciveing the following undeliverable message:

Your message wasn't delivered due to a permission or security issue. It may have been rejected by a moderator, the address may only accept e-mail from certain senders, or another restriction may be preventing delivery.

The following organization rejected your message: ARCHMB01.xxx.xxx.com.

ARCHMB01.xxx.xxx.com #<ARCHMB01.xxx.xxx.com #5.7.1 smtp;530 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated> #SMTP#

Security settings on the recieve connectors for the ARCHMB01 match MB01.  Edge Subscription was done on the primary mailbox server, MB01.  Does the Edge Subscription need to also be completed on the Archive Mailbox server since it also holds the transport role?

Any thoughts on this mail flow issue is appreciated.

Thank You

Replica Output Decommission Exchange 2003 Server

I'm migrating from Exchange 2003 to 2013 using Exchange 2010 as an intermediate server.  I have already moved all the mailboxes and really want to decommission the 2003 server so I can get started installing 2013.

I want to make sure that all public system folders have been replicated.  The organization doesn't use public folders, also no Outlook 2003 clients, but I read that all replicas must be moved and then removed before the server is decommissioned.  I'm just not sure if all replicas were put into place.  I am going to paste the out put of the Get-PublicFolder -recurse \non_ipm_subtree |fl name, replicas command.  There are some folders that do not have replicas and I'm not sure if that is normal or not.

Even though I have full access to a Room mailbox I'm not able to add calendar appointments or check the properties of the calendar. I've readded the FullAccess permissions without any luck.

We're using Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2013.
