The 2000 item limit set on "cross-premise" MRM transfers per user worker cycle when uploading email to the online archive needs to be increased over weekends until online archives are up to date

$

Hello, I was able to confirm with Office 365 support that our on-prem server is configured to limit MRM transfers of email to 2000 items per worker cycle. See the quote below from the support case:

Our engineering team was able to confirm that Office 365 does not throttle the connection during the transfer of items from your on-premise mailbox to your cloud archive mailbox through the MRM process. There is however a predefined 2000 item limit that is imposed by design by your Exchange Server for cross-premise MRM transfers.”

We need to increase the limit during the weekends to expedite the migration of email accounts over 10GB in size to the online archive. Can you please provide to me the commands to increase the limit so I can script it with powershell on weekends?

Thanks in advance

Many 3006 warning events

I'm not sure if this is an Exchange problem or a Windows issue, but I'll try the Exchange forum since this is in the application log.

My application log on one of my Exchange 2013 servers has suddenly started filling up with about 2 dozen Event ID 3006 warning events every second.  The event description is "Error reading log event record. Handle specified is 2675703992. Return code from ReadEventLog is 87."  The source is EventAgnt, and the user is listed as N/A.

Does anyone know what could be causing this and how to correct it?

Thank you very much for your help.

Limit Admin user privilege?

$

Hello,

I'm writing a small script that will allow a user to run it from their desktop for them to be able just to "add a secondary email" on a specific mailbox.  These users are not a member of any admin group in exchange and adding them to the existing group is not a idea given the it has more rights that they need to have.

Basically, all I wan't is for these users to execute the "set-mailbox"  and "-emailaddresses" cmdlet

Is there a way  to achieve this?

Thanks,

Lorenze

Exchange servers poiting to parent domain controllers - The operation couldn't be performed because object '' couldn't be found on 'parent dc'

Hi,

From some days ago the exchange servers located on a sub domain started pointing to DCs on parent domain so that always we use powershell we receive this error message The operation couldn't be performed because object '' couldn't be found on 'parent DC'. As a workaround we use "Set-ADserversettings -viewentireforest 1" every time we open a powershell session, but I'll like to solve this issue.

Tool for Email alias Creation?

$

Hello Cool People,

I was wondering if there is an automated way to create an email alias for a mailbox in Exchange 2013? So we have this mailbox used by a group of people and they keep on requesting for additional email alias for this mailbox.  Lets say I have MailboxXYZ@company.com and here comes user1 requesting to add ABC@company.com, a few minutes later here comes user2 requesting to add 123@company.com and 456@company.com. So we  go to ECP and add this alias to MailboxXYZ@company.com.

What we are trying to do (if possible) is to give these users a simple script or a tool to just input the email alias they want to add to MailboxXYZ@company.com and give a message whether the alias was successfully added to the mailbox or if the alias they are trying to add is already existing  on the long list of alias on that mailbox.

I should also mention that the user  has only full access to the MailboxXYZ@company.com.  I was thinking of PS but haven't really touch  PS yet.  I hope someone can shed some light on this.

Thanks in Advance.

Send As permission not display for helpdesk team in EAC

ECP not loading properly after patch rollback

$

Hi everyone

Over the weekend our sec admin was applying patches to one of our Exchange 2013 servers (CU11). He mentioned that the Windows Updates failed and rolled back. I am still waiting for details from him on what exactly failed. OWA/Mailflow is functioning. The only strange thing is the page we're directed to after logging into ECP (Exchange Admin Center).

The Sec admin that applied Windows Updates and had to roll back can view the ECP page without any issues. The rest of the admins here see a page similar to the screenshot below after logging into the Admin Center. This lead me to believe it's permission related? maybe something went wrong when the patch rollback occurred with permissions? I will continue to dig through logs and update this thread if I find anything.

Thank you in advance for your insight,

For some reason going to OWA cause the user to log out.  All the ECP virtual directory is using the same URLs with is the public FQDN, i.e. mail.contoso.com.

Interesting is when the user opens a browser in a private session, it works. I'm puzzled? Any help please.

Eudora and MS Exchange Server Issue

$

Hello

1) My employer uses exchange server outsourced to MS via their MS 365

2) I use Eudora 7.1.0.9 for my email client. I have been doing so for 7 plus years with no problem. Works smooth as silk.

3) However, as of yesterday, May 2, 2016, any email I receive that contains an attachment is now littered with unwanted text in the body of the email, at the top and bottom of the email. Examples shown below. To me it looks like exchange is scanning incoming attachments for whatever reason, and leaving behind garbage in my emails.

example of garbage at the top of incoming email in the body

4) I'm convinced this is the result of "something" that MS just started doing (with an unintended consequence)

5) Any ideas of how to make it stop?

PowerShell DDG not so Dynamic...

$

I've looked & looked, but can seem to figure out why when creating a Dynamic Distribution Group w/ PowerShell, the group remains empty (verified that by sending email to it, as well as trying to enumerate the recipients).

DDG creation:
New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "DDG1" -OrganizationalUnit "domain.name/OU1/OU2/OU3/Users" -RecipientFilter { ((RecipientContainer -eq "domain.name/OU1/OU2/OU3/Users") -and (RecipientType -eq "UserMailbox")) }

 >I'm using the -RecipientFilter since I want to add additional items like -ExtenstionCustomAttribute1 after I get this base issue resolved.

I validated the OU path with:
Get-OrganizationalUnit "domain.name/OU1/OU2/OU3/Users" | fl CanonicalName

Using this to enumerate:
$DDG1 = Get-DynamicDistributionGroup "DDG1"

Get-Recipient –RecipientPreviewFilter $DDG1.RecipientFilter  -OrganizationalUnit $DDG1.RecipientContainer | FT Name,OrganizationalUnit

To prevent AD OU location issues, I'm placing the group in the same OU as the users even. When I create this with the EAC instead, it works fine (can't use the EAC though due to needing the ExtensionCustomAttribute option mentioned previously).

This is Exchange 2013 on-prem only.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Guys:

I have a question about the exchange server 2013, I want to make a task schedule to check the three mailbox database

storage and save it to .csv files, then send the email to the administrator to know this. how should i do this?

our server is windows server 2012, the first i need to create a task schedule in windows server 2012, the configurations is

like the following:

C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe         //this is the powershell program location

//this is the parameters

-command ". 'D:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\bin\RemoteExchange.ps1'; Connect-ExchangeServer -auto;

//this is the three database of the exchang server, i get the information that i need

Get-Mailbox -database DB01 | Get-Mailboxstatistics |sort totalitemsize -desc |ft displayname,totalitemsize,DatabaseIssueWarningQuota,DatabaseProhibitSendQuota,itemcount >d:\report\DB01.csv; Get-Mailbox -database DB02|Get-Mailboxstatistics |sort totalitemsize -desc |ft displayname,totalitemsize,DatabaseIssueWarningQuota,DatabaseProhibitSendQuota,itemcount >d:\report\DB02.csv; Get-Mailbox -database DB03|Get-Mailboxstatistics |sort totalitemsize -desc |ft displayname,totalitemsize,DatabaseIssueWarningQuota,DatabaseProhibitSendQuota,itemcount>d:\report\DB03.csv

after that, i want to write a batch file to send the DB01.csv,DB02.csv,DB03.csv this three files in emails to my mailbox.

how to do this, is there anyone can help me?

now the task shedule is not working, it can not ouput the three csv files.

How to mark a meeting from a resource calendar as private

$

0

We just recently migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2013 both running the standard server and the standard user CAL license.

I have a user who wants to have some of her meetings created in the resource conference room calendar show up marked as private, and she has individually marked those required meeting as private.

I understand the Exchange 2013 by default it does not enforce the meeting privacy with the resource conference room calendars.

When I used the Microsoft power shell command RemovePrivateProperty ('Set-CalendarProcessing "[room name or smtp]" -RemovePrivateProperty $false'). However this made every meetings in that resource conference room calendar marked as private and not just the user that changed her meetings marked as private.

Is there a way to only have those meetings marked as private show up a s private on a resource conference room?

As a side note when I remove or reverse the command, it made all meeting not private however the subject of every meeting then becomes the meeting sponsors name and all new incoming meetings are displayed correctly so it makes it difficult to test without ruining reoccurring meetings.

exchange 2013

Hi guys,

Since my last post, i managed to setup the exchange 2013 edge server.  all mails are working, but we receive more spam as before so i started digging and found that none of the spam go via exchange online protection.

mailflow should be like this:

mail via EOP, then our EDGE (exchange 2013), then deliver to mailboxserver.

situation before :

mail via EOP, then our EDGE (exchange 2010), then deliver to mailboxserver.  Because i removed the subscripton of this edge server i am not able to check more settings/configs to found out what i missed.

Who defines that my EOP should handle the mails first? and what command did i miss here? i see in EOP that it receives still lot of mails and some mails are indeed handled by EOP, so have no clue atm

hope someone can clear this out, if you need more info i can provide more details

tx!
