Mailbox Migration - Failed

Hello. I am migrating some users to a different DB on the same server. All but one mailbox were able to be successfully migrated. The mailbox with the issue has a status of "completion failed."

When I open the report for this user it says: 

A missing item was encountered: Missing Item (IPM.Note) Subject:(shows subject of email), Folder: "Deleted Items

There are a few similar messages like the one above.

Then it says this near the the end of the report:

Stage: FinalIncrementalSync. Percent complete: 95. 

Fatal error TooManyMissingItemsPermanentException has occurred

Last line says:

(Domain name)/users/(user profile folder name)allowed a large amount of data loss when moving the mailbox (100 bad items, 0 large items)

This is on an Exchange 2013 server.

What can I do to fix this issue so that the mailbox can be migrated to the new Database?

Exchange 2013 Public Folder Missing in Outlook

Hello,

i have succesfully migrated from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013.

Everything was running after i migrated the public folders they disappeared on the Clients after starting Outlook 2013.

We are able to see the public Folders in OWA but not in Outlook.

Anybody know this Problem and can help?

2013/2010 coexistence: Different URLs for new servers + Outlook/Autodiscover

Hi

We would like to migrate to exchange 2013 from 2010.  HOWEVER the requirement is to have a a parallel environment in which the 2013 URIs are different as well as it's external OWA address.

Based on what I am told such setting will work.  But -------->

1. how about mobile devices/outlook anywhere that points to OWA2010.domain.com?  Do we need to change allllll those to point to OWA2013.domain.com?

2. What about autodiscover address externally?  I believe there is only one and in my scenario can only be pointed to either 2010 or 2013.

3. How about Outlook for users that get migrated to 2013?

Windows 10 Email App Not Working With Exchange Server

I just upgraded my Surface Pro from Win 8.1 to Windows 10.  Previously I had used the mail app with our exchange server with no problems.  Upon upgrading to 10 the mail app no longer works.  

Message comes up that "the device doesn't meet the security requirements set by your email administrator at VSAC, you'll need to update your settings."   Device settings are in accord with our policies-- spent an hour with our exchange server admin trying to troubleshoot.  After extended run time get message "something went wrong.... "we weren't able to apply the security policy that's required by ....... Contact your company's support person to fix the problem."  Error code:  0x86000c29.

Seeing rumors on web that there is a known bug.  Is there any information available?  Thoughts on what we can do?

Hate to do a restore to 8.1 but am about to do it.  Not useful if mail map is incompatible with exchange server.

Copying Emails to Shared mailbox

Dear All,

One of our user complaints that forwarded emails from various users that sender ID changed to his own ID and not retaining the original sender.  The user need to copy / forward emails to a shared mailbox by retaining same sender ID.

How can achieve this?

required permissions to implement Exchange

hello,

we have a forest with many of resource. recenlty managers signed a contract with a third party company to have exchange in our forest. i want enterprise admin is a need for implementing exchange but can you tell me after the implementation, how much access they have to forest and AD? we are concerned about theyr access and we want to know they dont esclate their privilages.

ideas?

Configuring autodiscover correctly in internal network

We have Office 365 and all our autodiscover records in DNS points to Exchange Online. We have Exchange 2013 installed in internal network because we use Directory Sync (Azure AD Connect) to sync our on-premise AD users to Azure AD and we need the Exchange 2013 to manage those certain attributes in on premises. So Exchange 2013 exists only for management purposes and it doesn't host any mailboxes. Problem is that our internal Outlook clients shows a certficate error when opening because the autodiscover is redirected to this Exchange 2013 server and not in Exchange Online as it should. How we can completly disable the autodiscover that Exchange 2013 offers in internal network so that it doesn't interfere with Exchange Online autodiscover records?

Outlook find until I brought computer back from store where the installed Office.

I keep getting code : 0x85050041.

What do you think the problem is?

Certificate renewal + client impact

Hi,

We'll be renewing the Exchange certificate on our 4 Exchange 2013 servers.
We'll need to renew the certificate on the loadbalancers too.

Will there be an impact for connected Outlook clients + OWA?
I think the certificates are used to setup the secured connection only, right?

Exchange DAG spread across two AD sites. Pros/Cons?

Hi,

I've been tinkering with EX2016 in a test environment for a while. I've replicated what I'd be doing in production so far. This consists of two AD sites. My question is around mail flow. Site 1 exists with EX2010(migrating is easy). Site 2 doesn't exist yet.

I've seen things around scoped send connectors etc. How would you guys recommend setting up the DAG across two sites? Or would you simply add the second physical site to the existing AD site? I'm interested to know how a second site in AD will impact the deployment. A DAG across different subnets isn't a problem, dedicated replication networks are also easy.

During testing I can see that I get the following warning on the send connector option:

'The source Transport servers specified for the connector aren't in the same Active Directory site'

Planning Virtual Zen Load Balancer in Exchange Server 2013 SP1 environment

   Hello,
 
   I plan to use software product Zen Load Balancer in my environments. I am not really sure if I can use community version (which is free solution) in production.
   Whether this version allows installation on virtual machines, what are the constraints of this particular version?
   If I use Zen Load Balancer in claster, actually how many certs are necessary?
   How to set up the SSL certificate to support https connection, SSL certificate terminates at the load balancer or SSL certificate terminates on each of the server?
   Whether the ssl offloading is recommended using Zen load balancing?
   Is there some better free solution for load balancing inEXCHANGE SERVER 2013 sP1 environment, that you could recommend?

adding storage and balancing DB's

hello - I have 4 physical exchange servers each with 20 volumes each with a single DB's all setup to auto-reseeding.

Some of these volumes now have low free space so I have added another volume and I am ready to start moving mailboxes but considering that no free space with be recovered from the old volume I'm just wondering the best way to do this?

Exchange Server - Trigger to purge message in Dumpster

Hi all,

Is there anyone can explain me how the Exchange Server check the messages in Dumpster and purge them please? And how can we force it works immediately.

I'm facing an issue that email items still be retained in Dumpster although the time I configured to keep them just 01 day or just few minutes.

For example:

User setting:

RetainDeletedItemsUntilBackup : False

RetainDeletedItemsFor: 00:00:05

exchange task schedule

Hi Guys:

I have a question about the exchange server 2013, I want to make a task schedule to check the three mailbox database

storage and save it to .csv files, then send the email to the administrator to know this. how should i do this?

our server is windows server 2012, the first i need to create a task schedule in windows server 2012, the configurations is

like the following:

C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe         //this is the powershell program location

//this is the parameters

now the task shedule is not working, it can not ouput the three csv files.

Ex2013 Free/busy on MAC Calendar

Hi,

I have problem on MAC calendar to see free/busy status.

When I create New event and add invitees status always shows free. When I go to "check availability" I see busy times and if change event time, in event windows busy status shows correct   

I tested same MAC on Ex2016 and Office 365  - works good only on Office 365

Outlook works good

Get-MailboxFolderPermission - shows all good

Getting error on set-mailboxfolderpermissions.

We have some shared resources like walk stations that we want everyone to be able to see the calendar on. 
The current permissions are:

PS h:\psscripts> Get-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity walkstation2:\calendar

I believe this should work but many people are reporting when they try and view this calendar they get an red exlamation point icon with a calendar could not be updated error message. 

So as a test I tried to change the default permissions to Owner. I found I get the error below if i try to change the default permissions to anything other than reviewer.

Event ID 1053 Exchange ActiveSynch Issue

Make sure the user has inherited permission granted to domain\Exchange Servers to allow List, Create child, Delete child of object type "msExchangeActiveSyncDevices" and doesn't have any deny permissions that block such operations.

I've already added exchange server to the user permissions and granted  Create and Delete "msExchActivesyncDevice Objects" and I'm still getting this crappy error message.

It looks exactly the same as other users that can get email on their phones, which is what this user can't do.

any suggestions ?

Going to OWA options cause the user to logout except when in private browsing

For some reason going to OWA cause the user to log out.  All the ECP virtual directory is using the same URLs with is the public FQDN, i.e. mail.contoso.com.

Interesting is when the user opens a browser in a private session, it works. I'm puzzled? Any help please.

Exchange 2010 Removal - issues with Public Folders

Busy removing an Exchange 201 Mailbox server (the last 2010 in the environment) but unable to remove the 'public folder database'

I have attempted to access the toolbox (public folder management) but does not return anything... "No existing 'PublicFolder' matches the following identity '\'

My permissions are as follows 'exchangeadmin', "Organization management' , 'public folder management'

Any thoughts?

Disable Auto-Forward of messages outside of the company

I want to disable the ability for clients to configure automatic forwarding from their Outlook Client. I came across a few different articles outlining a method for Mail Hub Transport rules, Role Based Assignments and Remote Domain settings. I want to confirm if I implement the Remote Domain settings, what will impact be;

i.e. Set-RemoteDomain Default -AutoForwardEnabled $false

- External Out of Office Messages

- Outlook Rule Auto Forwarding

- Forwarding to contacts via Exchange Console

My desired result is to allow External Out-of-Office messages, Administrative Defined forwarding (via exchange Console) while blocking only Outlook rules from forwarding.
