Exchange 2010 service pack 3

EOL for exchange 2010 is supposed to be next week so I am trying to get things downloaded and migrated to exhange online.

I ran into an issue that looks like it requires service pack 3 but the link to service pack 3 : https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwi3m8fHtojlAhUSMawKHaTpDgAQFjAAegQIARAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.microsoft.com%2Fen-us%2Fdownload%2Fdetails.aspx%3Fid%3D36768&usg=AOvVaw3fNvP4WtnZd51PTqe4Zm1z goes no where.

Anyone know how I can get this patch so I can complete my migration?

External user cannot view Free/Busy calendar of migrated user in hybrid environment

Hi all,

I have an issue about Exchange federation configuration between external user and migrated user in hybrid environment (external user cannot view free/busy calendar of migrated user)

Details are as follows:

- We have a hybrid environment (Exchange 2013 - Exchange Online) with two separate domains:

     + On-premise domain: onpremise.com

+ Remote domain (oncloud domain): contoso.onmicrosoft.com

- External domain: external.onmicrosoft.com

After that, we add new record in Organization Sharing in EAC (Exchange Admin Center) for each domain:

- Open EAC 2013 on CAS server, add new record in Organization sharing with domain external.onmicrosoft.com

- Open EAC Online in remote domain, add new record in Organization sharing with domain external.onmicrosoft.com

- Open EAC Online in external domain, add two records in Organization sharing: onpremise.com and contoso.onmicrosoft.com

After setup the above steps, I have listed 4 test cases to check as follows:

- Case 1: Onpremise user view free/busy calendar of external user

- Case 2: External user view free/busy calendar of onpremise user

- Case 3: Migrated user view free/busy calendar of external user

- Case 4: External user view free/busy calendar of migrated user

Because customers don't want to send mail invitations to view calendar, we have added mail contacts on EAC instead. Everything works fine with case 1, case 2 and case 3. But in case 4, an error occur as follow:

1. I opened EAC Online of the external tenant contoso.onmicrosoft.com

2. Add mail contact containing the email address of the migrated user on the hybrid environment (user1@onpremise.com)

3. Open outlook app (my customers don't use outlook web), login by account in external domain (user2@external.onmicrosoft.com)

4. Open shared calendar, select the mail contact just added in step 2.

5. The calendar of user1@onpremise.com shows the error line: Could not be update

I checked Free / busy services on testconnectivity. I was wondering why I entered user1@onpremise.com but it redirected to user1@contoso.mail.onmicrosoft.com. So that it show error 401: user1@contoso.mail.onmicrosoft.com not found.

I change the email address in step 2 from user1@onpremise.com to user1@contoso.mail.onmicrosoft.com. It's worked ??? (External user can view free/busy calendar of migrated user without send email invitation or adding calendar permission)

So i have a question: what is exactly free/busy calendar flow from external user to migrated user in hybrid environment.

Accessing Exchange From Different Subnet

Hi Exchange Expert,

We plan to change create more VLAN configurations on our network to separate from servers and clients subnet. Currently the clients is on the same subnet with servers, which is 192.168.1.x/24. We would like move the clients to another subnet say 192.168.2.x/24. Of course, we will create the inter vlan routing between these two VLANs so both VLAN can ping to each other. we are using Exchange 2010 with Windows server 2008 R2 Enterprise.

Question are:

 - will there any issue for the clients outlook to access exchange from client subnet since they are no more on the same subnet with exchange servers? Currently, When I check on my current outlook connection status, they are connecting via TCP since it is internal and both clients and servers are within the same subnet.

- will auto discover still work when we setup clients outlook?

Appreciate your advise.

Thanks so much.

H

Bouncebacks when sending to sister domain.

I manage two domains.  Both have exchange servers.

When my user tries to send an email from one domain to the other, randomly she will get bouncebacks.  After the bounceback she send again to the same addresses with no problems.

The headers indicate that although she send to user@humboldtwholesale.com, outlook tries to send it to user@house-garden.us, which is the domain she is sending from.   After she gets the bounceback, she can send again to the same address and it goes through.

Here are the headers:

External Federated Domains Unable to see Free/Busy of Room Resource Migrated to O365

$

Hello, I hope someone have some idea here. It's a bit more complex than normal, hopefully you will be able to follow me.

Domain1 with it's own Exchange server is in Hybrid mode, in the start pit of testing.

Domain2 with it's own Exchange is on-prem only granted access to free/busy through federation trust to Domain1 Exchange

Domain2 is able to see free/busy of all resources that is still on on-prem server at Domain1, but not when using room finder and choosing ressources that has been migrated to O365. However, they can see the objects if they would manually enter the @domain1.mail.onmicrosoft.com address.

However if they open the meeting room instead of using the planner they can see all content on the @domain1.com address.
So this seems to be related to federation trust free/busy sync somehow, or that domain2 is not getting the information about forwarding to the @domain1.mail.onmicrosoft.com address adn thus tries to poll against @domain1.com.

Additional information:

Domain1 and 2 have an AD trust over VPN

Domain1 and 2 use a single AD connect to sync to 1 single Azure tenant

All meeting rooms is located on Domain1 Exchange due to some weird license agreement on third party software, so Domain2 is dependant on being able to see free/busy of Domain1 to book their own meeting rooms (country separated).

Anyone got an idea of how to get free/busy to show for domain2 users on migrated domain1 resources?

Thanks

Outlook/Exchange 2013 - Errors when switching wired to wifi

It seems that Exchange is only allowing 1 connection per PC/User, when a user switching from docked (hardwired) to undocked (wireless) Outlook always gives disconnect errors and issues untill the user reboots, or re-docks.

Is there a setting in Exchange that will allow multiple IP's to connect from the same user/workstation?

Permission to deliver to group inside group

$

Hello everybody.

In our Exchange 2013 environment we are facing a "challenge".

We have the following Distribution groups:

DistGroupMain (This group doesn't contain any user)
DistGroupB (This group is a member of DistGroupMain and contains some users)
DistGroupC (This group is a member of DistGroupMain and contains some users)

Using the EAC in the delivery management properties of the DistGroupMain, I set delivery permissions to one of the company users. He tried to send a message but the following error is reported:

Your message can't be delivered because you do not have permissions to send to this distribution list

This is obviously because he only have permission to send to DistGroupMain but not to the subgroups DistGroupB and DistgroupC.

So, my question is: Is there any way to give permissions to the Main group without granting permission to each subgroup?
This was just and example, our distribution group tree is very large so we are looking for a better solution.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Licensing Ex2k13 and Ex2k16 coexistance

Hi,

customer uses now Ex2k10 and during usage have bought 80 Ex2k13 CAL per user.

As Ex2k10 is near end of support - he want to migrate to mixed Ex2k13 and Ex2k16 env (as for 80 users he has CAL's already).

So 80 users will have mailboxes on Ex2k13 and rest of them (400) will have mailboxes on Ex2k16 (will buy 400 CAL's). The Ex2k13 will get only mailbox role.

So my question is - can he use existing CAL's in that scenario or have to buy 2016 CAL's for every user (as Client Access runs on Ex2k16).

Public folder mailbox size

Hello,

I moved some public folders branches from one PF mailbox to another one. However, after the move, the size of the source public folder mailbox didn't change. Is there some command that I have to execute in order to shrink the source public folder mailbox, or is it something that will be done automatically after certain period of time (e.g. RetainDeletedItemsFor, etc.).

Likely also ItemCount didn't changed, however I didn't noted this number before the move.

Thanks!

Unable to Federate Domain due to time out of sync.

We have an Exchange Hybrid Setup currently running. I need to add a new domain to the Hybrid Setup but encountered error. It says "Your system time appears to be more than five minutes out of sync with the time on our federation servers".

We already checked the time configurations on domain and everything points to the PDC. PDC is pointing to asia.pool.ntp.org

Anything I might have missed?

Changing internal and external URL's to be the same in preparation of 2013/2016 coexistence

$

I originally setup 2013 with different internal and external URL's.

I will be setting up a 2013/2016 coexistence and I want the 2016 server to have the same internal and external URL's.

Do I actually need to change the 2013 internal URL's to be the same as the external URL's before establishing coexistence? The internal URL's use the server's local name.

Are all of the URL's that need to be changed changeable from the Server - Virtual Directories section of the management console?

I do have a powershell cmdlet that is supposed to setup a connection point with 2016 and involves modifying autodiscover.

To clarify, I can have the exact same URL's on 2013 as 2016 with internal DNS pointing to 2016 and coexistence will work without further configuration than what I mentioned?

The Exchange Deployment Assistant is vague on this subject so I want to make sure.

Disabling external access, general users to ECP

I want to disable internet access to ECP.

Can I simply remove the external URL in the virtual directory to turn off external access?

How can I turn off access to general users so only a handful of accounts can access the ECP?

Outlook colour categeries restoration issue from one shared mailbox to another shared mailbox in the outlook profile

$

I have added 2 shared mailboxes in my outlook profile via  Email account....Change---Advanced ----Add option

Tried to back up the colour categeries from one shared mailbox and restoring to another shared mailbox in the profile using below steps.

Backup Categories

  1. Create an new Note item (keyboard shortcut: CTRL+SHIFT+N).
  2. Write “Categories” in it to give it a name.
  3. Close the Note item.
  4. Switch to your Notes folder (keyboard shortcut: CTRL+5).
  5. Right click on it and choose Categorize-> All Categories…
  6. Select all the Categories which you want to backup.
  7. Save the Note outside of Outlook as an msg-file Outlook via File-> Save as… or by dragging it out of Outlook and into an Explorer folder or onto your Desktop. By default it will be called Categories.msg

Restore Categories

  1. Open your Notes folder (keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+5).
  2. Drag & drop the Categories.msg file from Explorer into the Notes folder.
  3. If you were to select the Note and look at your All Categories list now, you’ll see that the Categories which need to be restored are marked with; Not in Master Category List.Switch back to the Mail Navigation (keyboard shortcut: CTRL+1).

    1. Right click on the top of your mailbox folder set and choose Properties.Click the button “Upgrade to Color Categories…”.
    2. Outlook will scan your mailbox for items with Categories which aren’t in the Master Category List yet and will add them

But restoration is not working it all, Is it a known issue or any solution for this?
