Any free alternative to acronis or veeam exchange backup?

Hello experts! Myself P. George,

We've already spent a lot for backing up exchange server data. Ofcourse, in last couple of years we've experienced veeam backup & acronis! Both are promising software, but overprice too! We've userbase of 858 users, so managing this huge base we've some budget. But we're extending our userbase from 858 to 1211+! And as per the budget, I’m unable to continue these tools?

So, can you guys pls suggest me any other solid alternative, but pls make sure it is low cost too :(

I don't think there is any free software for exchange server backup? Isn’t it?

Hello,

           We have exchange 2007 Ent version running, I know its old and we are having crisis in our company due to which we were unable to migrate and eventually we will go for office 365 soon.

Currently we have exchange connected to smart host for sending and receiving emails from external world.

But we are getting spoof emails from internal employees

In the example ,

user1@test.com impersonates user3@test.com and sends an email to user2@test.com easily

Currently on CU19 and .NET 4.8 - upgrading to latest CU23 okay?

I remember back in the CU15 to CU21 times M$ caught a lot of slack for their unpreparedness with older .NET versions and Exchange 2013.

I've currently got an Exchange 2013 CU19 with .NET 4.8. Are there any known issues with going directly from CU19 to CU23? Do I need to do anything special or performed a half-step upgrade first (to something in between)?

O365 Hybrid with Exchange 2010 SP3 On-Premises and Sophos Email Appliance

Hello,

I am planning to migrate our Exchange 2010 SP3 server to O365 using Hybrid environment.
We also use Sophos Email Appliance which is a box sitting inhouse.

Currently, the mail flows like this.

Inbound from Internet
Internet --> Sophos Email Appliance --> Edge Server --> Mail Server

Outbound to Internet
Mail Server --> Edge Server --> Internet

I want to retain Sophos Email Appliance and at the same time don't want to break the Microsoft rule that I should not be putting anything between O365 and On-Premises Exchange and also referring to the following article:

I come up with:

Inbound from Internet
Internet --> Sophos Email Appliance --> O365 --> Edge Server --> Mail Server

Outbound to Internet (no change)
Mail Server --> Edge Server --> Internet

Will this work?

Salesforce emails not working

Emails from my domain address are getting sent by salesforces the DKIM key is setup and activated & SPF record is in place. When sending a test to any external email address from salesforce console, the test salesforce emails work but when sending test to domain email address itself the emails they do not get received. Cannot see the emails located anywhere in the exchange logs , disabling exchange spam filter does not change anything, whitelisting email address or setting up spam filter bypass does not work either and only happens when sending from the domain email address though salesforce. Trend Micro advance business security is installed on the server, disabling that and completely turning it off does not do anything else but have raised a case with trend micro also , turning off the whole windows firewall does not change anything else.

Publishing OWA through Web Application Proxy

Hello,

I plan to publish OWA through Web Application Proxy in pass- through mode.

Is it  possible not to install and configure AD FS in that case?

 I would like to connect WAP with two Exchange servers (MAILBOX(DAG) + CAS).

Both of mailbox servers contain active and passive copies of databases.

Two CAS would have the same namespace, so the clients would use the same external url.

Does the  WAP forwards https request to one and to second CAS in the same time?

Do we have the same SSL certificate for two CAS and WAP?

And finally do we request SSL certificate from third - party CA because I'd like to avoid installation of Certificate Authority on the DC?

Exchange mailbox migration to office365 stuck at Syncing/inprogress

Hello guys, so i am currently migrating our exchange server 2012 to office 365 exchange online using the hybrid connectivity approach (remote move). All pilot users were successfully migrated except this one user who has been stuck at syncing for a very long period of time without any significant activity going on (Data migrated still at 0). I have tried to stop/delete the user using Stop-migrationUser cmdlet and tried to start the migration again using new-MoveRequest and still the same. From powershell moveRequestStatistics of that user, the Status is stuck at In progress while the StatusItem is stuck at WorkItemPickup. This particular users mailbox seems to be larger than every other user in the initial pilot batch created @13.31Gb worth of mailbox size. Please what can i do to re-mediate this? see below migration stats of current problem user/mailbox..

Migrating to Exchange Online I've been migrating users from our Exchange 2010 CU3 environment to Exchange online for a few weeks with no issues. However, now I've got 3 users that experience the following error during migration:

Error: MigrationMRSPermanentException: Error: Cannot find a recipient that has mailbox GUID ‎'9bf2d378-7eb7-43f9-afd3-eedf87a5edf2''.

I used the steps in this KB and got the following results:

This is from on prem exchange server:

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>get-mailbox username | fl exchangeGUID

ExchangeGuid : d90a27ed-4017-486e-a843-09af3214612b 

From Exchange Online:

PS C:\Users\qmoxhamD\Desktop> get-mailuser username | fl exchangeguid

ExchangeGuid : d90a27ed-4017-486e-a843-09af3214612b 

As you can see the GUID doesn't match the move-request initiated on Exchange Online.

I tried the steps in this KB also but the errors are the same.

Any suggestions on what I need to do in order to get these mailboxes migrated?

Exchange to Cisco Ironport

It fails everytime when we want to send to more than 100 recipients ! Cisco is allowing 300.

All limits on Exchange are higher than 100 recipients, max is 5000. smtp connections are 300,
PickupDirectoryMaxRecipientsPerMessage is 1000. 

Where else can i check the log for the reason ? Cisco says its the Exchange Server. There is no problem with network connectivity or DNS, nothing else makes problems. its just mails with more than 100 recipients.

Where could that limit be ?

iPad bypassing Security Group settings sending to Year Groups

We have multiple Mail enabled security groups for our School years, and noticed that students are able to bypass the restrictions if they email the group from an iPad, using Mail (not the Outlook App). 

Under Message Approval we have: Messages sent to this group have to be approved by a moderator, which is myself. SO if sending from within the school\domain from an Outlook client on a desktop, I receive the approval request, but when a student sends to the address on an iPad, it seems to bypass all restrictions.

Any ideas?

Hi,

a Customer have an atypical configuration with two Exchange 2013 with Cu23 installed. One with Client Access role, the second with Mailbox role.

For Cumulative Update, recommendation is to upgrade Mailbox Server first and CAS server after.

One of the users decided it would be a good idea to send a 1.5GB file to herself.

Now the email is sitting somewhere on the server and i dont know where to find it at all, As soon as i start the "Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Transport Delivery" Service the file starts trying to send which causes all resources on the connector and mail almost dies.

I have tried with the Remove-Message in powershell but have had no luck as this is in the "Submission Queue"

I am running out of ideas now and thus i turned to forums for some direction as i am lost.

Sending problem with email delegation.

Hi

i had request from user for delegation of other mailbox to his account. i did the same from EAC of exchange 2013 , included his name inSEND AS and FULL ACCESS. user is able to see the new mailbox in his Outlook and able to receive emails, but user cannot send from that mailbox. what could be the valid reasons? is there a need to reset AD account password?.

MailTips for Dynamic Distribution Lists - wrong number of recipients

We use Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2013. We have a Dynamic Distribution List (all@domain.com) configured on Exchange. It contains 75 users, I confirmed it using below cmdlets in Exchange management shell

$all = Get-DynamicDistributionGroup all@domain.com
Get-Recipient -RecipientPreviewFilter $all.recipientfilter

When I use Outlook to create a new email to all@domain.com there is a MailTip displayed mention about 87 of recipients, it should be 75 users. 

Settings on our Exchange servers are as below:

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-OrganizationConfig | fl *mailtip*
