Is "Exchange Admin" a built-in user account?
Hello,
We are in the middle of migrating to O365/EXO from Exchange 2013 on-prem. While going through our list of mailboxes, we noticed one for user "Exchange Admin", which is literally a user object in AD with the address "eadmin@<ourdomain.com>". We have no idea what this account is for. The object creation timestamp puts it right around the time of our last migration from Ex2007 to Ex2013. So, the question is does anyone know if Exchange may have created this account automatically for some reason? As in, is it standard for Exchange to create a user account called "Exchange Admin" automatically? I suspect not, but I'm hesitant to remove. Will probably disable for now and see if anything breaks.
Edit: the only group that this account is a member of is "Domain Users"

Office 365 Hybrid Configuration - Register Hybrid Agent Error
Hi we're in the process of setting up a hybrid integration on our servers with the view of moving everything to the cloud in the future.
I've set up the agent on one of our servers and am going through the config. Then I hit an issue
In the error logs I'm getting this - but I've no idea what this is referring to or how to resolve it. I'm using the Modern Version of the agent as i don't want to expose my servers to the outside world :)

Chrome can no longer access OWA but FF/IE can.
After working fine for months, Chrome started showing "Your request can't be completed right now. Please try again later." in sub-folders of Inbox, but not in Inbox itself (I can see messages in inbox only).
After checking the server, I tried OWA in Firefox and it works fine, all folders, all email, no errors. The errors below only happen in Chrome, not IE9/10 or Firefox. I removed all extensions in Chrome, updated to latest build (27). It seems server side
as the other two browsers work just fine.
Here is what I see in chrome:

Exchange 2013 Content Index Failed for all passive copy of Databases
We have Exchange 2013 CU23 with 4 Node DAG between two sites. In one of the server, I have following symptoms and the troubleshooting steps performed to fix the issue, but nothing fix the issue.
Symptoms of the issue:
1. The Content Index status of all DBs shows as failed
2. Unable to hold Active Copy of DB in that server as it automatically fail over to its peer server.
3. Event ID 1010, 1012 are continuously generating in Event Logs
4. The Registry entry of Search status is not updating with current date - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\V15\Search\IndexStatus
5. Performance Monitor dose not show any progress of Crawling, Feeding counters of Search Indexes
Troubleshooting steps performed:
1. Basic reseeding attempt using Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -CatalogOnly cmdlet
2. Basic Rebuild of CI attempt with Index folder deleted/renamed
3. Rebuild of CI with "ContentSubmitter" Active Directory group created
4. Reinstall the FAST folder structure and rebuild of CI
5. Reinstall CU23 and Rebuild CI
6. Uninstall Security update KB4536988 and Rebuild CI
Any help would be appreciated, not sure rebuild of that server is the final fix.
Updating from CU2 to CU23, precautions

I recently took over the IT roles for 2 companies and am new to using Exchange. Through months of working on these servers I've learned enough to do the simple stuff. It recently came to my attention that they haven't been updated since 2013 (SERIOUSLY?!). Some users recently can't use the calendar on a computer (but on their phone it works fine), as well as OWA problems when searching for old emails. I'm hoping this cleans things up, among other things.
Anyways, what precautions should I take before updating these servers. They are both on-premise at a M-F site. I'm running a full backup using Carbonite and am cautious about this update leading to other problems. Also, about how long would this take? I'm planning on doing it over a weekend.

Facing outlook hang issue on multiple end user's systems - Exchange Server 2013
Dear Team,
We have Exchange server 2013 setup in our environment, where we have two server, one for CAS role and another for Mailbox server, last two months our all users working from home and we have 170 users on exchange server.
But there are 5-7 users, who are facing outlook hang issue randomly on their system (Once in a day, twice in a day or sometime there no issue)
We have installed the latest windows patch and exchange server CU on both the exchange servers.
Also we have installed latest windows patches and office 365 application on end user system but no luck.
Do we need to configure any setting on exchange server 2013 server?
Can you please help me out from this issue.

Allowing specific users the ability to "Send As" any/all users on Exchnage 2013, without losing GPO logon scripts
We have exchange 2013 on premise, and want to setup the IT team (2 people) with permission to "Send As" any mailbox user on the system. This is so they can forward emails to the support desk system as the original email sender, so that tickets are created automatically for that original person..
Testing:
If we add the two AD users (IT Staff) to the 'Domain Admins' group, this works. They can "Send As" any user just as we want. However, members of the Domain Admins group cannot run our logon script which is delivered via GPO. This means our IT guys don't get mapped drives!
When the same users are taken out of Domain Admins, the GPO logon script works, but of course they can no longer 'Send As' whomever they like!
Question:
I'm going to suppose that the GPO logon script is filtered out for Domain Admins to prevent administrative problems, and so I cant add my IT people to this group without forfeiting logon script functionality. Since members of the Domain Admin group can "Send As" to any user, including newly created ones without running a scheduled script, there must be a way to enable a different group or AD user account to do the same. What would I have to do to a user in AD or Exchange to enable "Send As" for current and newly created mailboxes that doesn't involve a script running regularly, just like the Domain Admins group members (but without the issue running GPO logon scripts)?

For example:

You need the right syntax for the team that searches the mailbox for content, given that the search query has a"+" sign.

User mailbox additional email address - proxy address
Hello.
I am struggling with an alternative email address for a mailbox. In EAC, mailbox properties, under email address , I have added another email address and it works. What doesn`t work for me is, when I delete a former employee / his mailbox, I would like to add that email address to another mailbox just for certain period of time. When I do that, and send a test email, it bounces back as undelivered. I know I could use forwarding under mail flow but that`s not ideal.
Is there a way I can make this work or is my approach incorrect? What do admins do with a mailbox when an employee quits?

Migration to Office 365.

Need your help. We are migrating Exchange Server 2013 standard edition to Office 365 Exchange online. we are using Code Two migration tool. Post migration after DNS cut over to Office 365 we need to shrink the Exchange Server On-premise server to manage the Exchange Recipient tasks.
Is it really required to retain on-premise exchange server to manage the Exchange recipients tasks? If yes, could you please help what are the tasks we cannot manage from Office365/ecp. Please note that we will be syncing on-premise AD to Azure AD through Azure AD connect and the Authentication method is Pass through Authentication.
As we are using Code Two migration tool, it will not convert the user mailbox to remote mailbox therefore it consume more space on the on-premise server. To reduce the cost we need to shrink the storage. So, we are planning to run the Hybrid configuration wizard and then convert the mailboxes to remote mailbox manually. Does it have any issues on this approach? Or do you have a better way to handle?
One of the reason we are using CodeTwo tool, our Exchange version is Exchange 2013 SP1 and to run the Exchange Native Hybrid migration we need to update the current server to CU 23. It requires downtime as we have only one Exchange 2013 server and not DAG.

How to use MFCMAPI to examine content in an Office 365 group?
How do I use MFCMAPI to open the mailbox of Office 365 group so that I can examine messages in the group's inbox?
What I tried:
Using MFCMAPI 20.0.20110.01 I click on MDB > Open other mailboxes > From GAL, MFCMAPI says it "couldn't get server name from profile" so I filled in the server name obtained by testing Outlook connectivity here (it was something like "$SOME_GUID@$DOMAIN_NAME"), found the group in $USER_NAME > All Address Lists > All Groups > $THE_GROUP and then clicked on OK, but nothing happened after the window closed.

Emails are not Receiving from Veeam to Office 365 DLs

I have noticed notification emails from Veeam to Office 365 DLs are not working. here, I have Office 365 Hybrid infrastructure and we are using on-prem exchange server as a SMTP server on Veeam notification settings. (refer image01 and image02)
below are the things that I have noticed so far, appreciate anyone can help me with this.
>run a message trace from veeam to office 365 DL and couldn't find anything there.
>create a new notification to individual office 365 email from Veeam side and it was successfully delivered. I have ran the message trace as well, noticed message delivered successfully from there as well. I assume, there is nothing to worry about relay settings in on-prem Exchange since delivering notifications to individual users.

Exchange Bypass Proxy for FreeBusy

Im stuck as i've tried all possible options (in my point of view) so i hope some one of you have a trick left in the pocket ;-).
I have to establish a Free Busy Federation between two exchange environments.
Source (This users tries to get the data displayed) = Exchange 2013 (customer partner environment)
Target (Mailbox where i want to query Free Busy data from) = Exchange 2019 (my enviornment)
We both use the Microsoft Federation Gateway as our FederationTrust endpoint and therefore have set the the InternetWebProxy setting on every Exchange Server.
Set-ExchangeServer -InternetWebProxy "http://proxy:port/" -InternetWebProxyBypassList
I, on the Exchange 2019 can easly define the bypass list with the InternetWebProxyBypassList.. but this is not possible for the partner environment with their Exchange 2013.
as this is the first time i had to configure the the InternetWebProxy on an Exchange 2013, I just asumed it will use the netsh winhttp proxy settings, so we defined the proxy and bypass list with
netsh winhttp set proxy proxy-server="proxy:port" bypass-list="domain1;domain2;etc."
we restarted iis as well as the exchange server.
As we have multiple exchange servers as source, we only did this settings on one exchange server - the one the test user (source) is hosted (the mailboxdatabase is mounted on this server we try to bypass the proxy).
as did not worked.. - we still see the autodiscover requests hitting the proxy server.. i found the following:
so I instructed the partner to update the two web.config files in
- ..\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\ClientAccess\exchweb\ews
- ..\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\ClientAccess\Autodiscover
with the following

rebooted the server but still we see the traffic going to the proxy.
so, if any one knows where exchange 2013 needs his proxy bypass list configured.. please let me know as i dont know more places to add it

Exchange Databases Issue (Log File)

i have a query regarding Databases
i have just migrated my exchange from 2010 to 2013 successfully
it is working fine, but after few days i monitored that the file size of databases increases immensely
when i drill down my monitoring i just monitored that there are 2 types of folder in DB
1. DB folder (contains edb file and catalog folder)
2. DB logs file folder (contains log files named E060015)
there is an issue with logs 2 point log file folder
this folder contains approx 72000 files in it with require more space over here. in exchange 2010 its like 200 files in it other will be flushed
please suggest what can i do for this.
the work that i already done is:
1. Disable circular logging
2. Dismount databses
3. restart server
4.mount databases
5. enable circular logging
but still issue persist. Due to this issue. emails often stuck in mail queue in Peak hours only
