Exchange 2013 CU1 fresh install - 2 mailbox servers won't join DAG.

Had a test environment with Exchange 2013 RTM:

DC:W2K12
CA:W2K12 CA+MB

DAG1(N1 & N2): W2K8 R2 SP1MB Only
DAG2(N1 & N2): W2K12MB Only

Both DAGs were functioning.

With CU1 release built a new test environment with CU1 binaries (no upgrade):

DC:W2K12
CA:W2K12 CA Only

Stand Alone:W2K8 R2 SP1MB Only
DAG1(N1 & N2):W2K8 R2 SP1MB Only
DAG2(N1 & N2):W2K12MB Only

But cannot get the appropriate sets into the DAG. I get the following (previously known and discussed) error:

A server-side database availability group administrative operation failed. Error The operation failed. CreateCluster
errors may result from incorrectly configured static addresses. Error: An error occurred while attempting a cluster
operation. Error: Cluster API '"AddClusterNode() (MaxPercentage=100) failed with 0x5b4. Error: This operation returned
because the timeout period expired"' failed.. [Server: e13-w12-mb1.domain.org]
    + CategoryInfo          : InvalidArgument: (:) [Add-DatabaseAvailabilityGroupServer], DagTaskOperationFailedExcept
   ion
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : F7E8BD7E,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.SystemConfigurationTasks.AddDatabaseAvailabilityG
   roupServer
    + PSComputerName        : e13-w12-mb1.e2k13.org

Now, both servers are WK12 Datacenter, the CNO for the DAG was pre-created and disabled, the first node gets added to the DAG, the second fails.

Same story with the W2K8 R2 SP1 set:

If I remove successfully added node from the DAG and add the previously failing node - it would succeed, but then I cannot add the other node, that used to not have a problem.

The following Error is in the Application Log:
Event ID:4066
Source:MSExchangeRepl
Category:General
Text:An error occurred while trying to write to the cluster database. Error: OpenCluster failed with error 1753.

Searched a lot - have not found anything useful.
Decided to unistall Exchange 2013 CU1 and install Exchange 2013 RTM, since I did not have issues with that.
Uninstall worked just fine - install does not. On W2K8 R2 SP1 nodes I get the follwing error:

The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();
          . "$RoleInstallPath\Scripts\ConfigureNetworkProtocolParameters.ps1";
          Set-NtlmLoopbackCheck $false
" was run: "The term 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\\Scripts\ConfigureNetworkProtocolParameters.ps1' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.".

Error:
The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();
          . "$RoleInstallPath\Scripts\ConfigureNetworkProtocolParameters.ps1";
          Set-NtlmLoopbackCheck $false
" was run: "The term 'Set-NtlmLoopbackCheck' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.".

P.S. Both sets of nodes have 4 NICs - One "Public", two "iSCSI" and one "Private". From the server build point of view the CU1 environment is exacly like the RTM environment, that used to function just fine.
P.S. From Exchange point of view (not counting the DAG issues) all servers could send and receive mail, using OWA.

Any help would be much appreciated.

ECP still accessible if URL Rewriter is in use

Hi guys,

I've implemented few URL Rewrite rules within IIS, like "Force HTTP to HTTPS", "auto redirect to /owa", etc. All good with it, but now I can't disable ECP (Exchange Admin Center) for access from inside\outside. I mean, that Exchange Admin Center page is accessible, but provides access to personal settings (Outlook Web App: account, organize email, groups, etc.), instead of404 – website not found error or real admin center. To do it, I have to disable all URL Rewrite rules.

In my case internal and external URLs are the same.

Does anybody saw and solved that issue? Or maybe you can advise how to disable Admin Center only from internet access?

Thanks,

Nick

Hello friends, I'm like a scolding and guidance.

The Exchange Server 2010 SP2 server from a client crashed, stopped time and is hardware problem, the scheme Disaster Recovery does not work because there I have another identical server or hardware or OS, before 2008, and was Now is the 2008R2, you can not follow this tutorial below.

http://aldoalves.wordpress.com/2012/06/06/disaster-recovery-de-exchange-server-2 \
010-disclosing them-their-secrets-part-2 /

Well, I have the log files and Exchange EDB, moved all files old server to the new server's disk.

I am currently reinstalling Exchange Server 2010 from scratch, as reusing the files from the old server and move up the database, and then re all e-mail accounts?

Any tutorial for this?

Thanks, I'm kinda in aperreio back here to this server, they are 300 users who are without email.

I'm trying to run Get-MailboxStatistics on our Exchange 2013 CU1 server, however I get the warrning:

WARNING: The object b459e06b-b068-4294-8448-058902042231 has been corrupted, and it's in an inconsistent state. The following validation errors happened:

I don't think this is a normal mailbox, but I'd like to either repair the object or remove it. Thanks!

Microsoft Exchange versions Market share

I only need to know about current usage of these versions in the marketplace. You need not explain to me the technical differences between versions but the market share of the following version

1. Market share of MS Exchange 2003 ( for US and for rest of the world)

2. Market share of Exchange 2007 and 2010

i.e. how many companies/corporate are still using Exchange server 2003 and how many are on other versions (%age wise breakdown)

I have looked a lot on the web but haven't been able to get the updated info. I found one report but that is of 2008 and I need updated data from 2011 or 2012

Looking for help

Linked Send Connectors

We are currently on Exchange 2007 looking to upgrade to 2013.  We see that Linked send connectors no longer exist in 2013.  We currently use linked send connectors in our organization.   What are our options?  Are we just out of luck?  I find it hard to believe that MS would just take away this functionality without giving some other alternative.

Certificate mismatch Outlook Anywhere

Hi,

When connecting an Outlook 2013 client to Exchange 2013 I am getting a certificate mismatch error.

  1. SSL Certificate is for the external name (exch.domain.com) has no SAN's and Outlook is looking for servername.local.
  2. I have configured all virtual directories for Exchange to use the above url (exch.domain.com) for internal and external access.
  3. Have a local DNS record resolving the external name (exch.domain.com) to the internal IP of the exchange server.
  4. Operating a single public IP using ARR and Windows Server 2012 Essentials
  5. Have set up a SRV record in DNS for autodiscovery.
  6. Outlook Anywhere in the ECP is configured to NTLM authentication
  7. In Outlook, the advanced connection properties I was getting authentication prompts until I added https://exchange.domain.com as a proxy server.

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

STILL losing space!

In another posting I mentioned I have Exchange where several databases are sitting in one partition.  I was losing a LOT of disk space from all the daily accumulation of transaction logs.  I moved all the logs away to a much bigger partition and this finally stemmed the loss of disk space.........or so I thought.

There is still enough whitespace within the databases and public folder database.  I know this because I see the Event 1221 every day.  The EDB and STM files have not changed in size.  My message tracking is set to 99 days but everyday I manually MOVE the old logs away to somewhere else.  Volume Shadow Copy service runs on the server but Shadow Copies is not turned on for any of the partitions.  They are all disabled.  The Queue and Badmail directories are empty.  I don't use Full Indexing

So in reality I shouldn't lose anything but I still do lose tiny bits of space per day.  Maybe several hundred MB.  Over the course of a week I might lose a half a gig or slightly more.  Over several weeks that adds up to several gigs.  I take snapshots of all the directory sizes and do not see ANY change whatsoever, except for the Exchange.logs folder, and yet I am still leaking free space.

Can anybody tell me why this is happening?  Is Exchange accumulating something that I cannot see????  I don't get it

Since a dialtone database is used for temporary purposes, is it possible to rename that database? If so, what other references would have to take place (like registry or active directory)

Disabled Mailbox Recovery on Exchange 2013 post CU1

$

Yesterday I installed Exchange 2013 Cumulative Update 1. Today I realised there were many fewer messages in a mailbox (only one) that had In-Place Archive enabled (it was enabled quite some time ago). I soon found missing messages in the archive, which I then disabled in the belief messages would go back to original folders (there was no obvious way to put them back).

Now that archive appears lost. Tried whatever documentation suggested - Connect-Mailbox and through EAC - but the disabled archive does not show up. How can I restored it?

Thank you.

Exchange Online and Connectivity Issues

Hi,

Please forgive me as systems administration is not my specialty, I am filling in for the IT person who is away sick.

We are currently experiencing issues after we upgraded to Exchange Online last Friday. The issues are as follows.

- Almost all computers on the network are having issues with the Email server. The emails are delayed or they are not receiving them.

- Certain computers are not able to access the internet, outlook, or even the internal network.

I am thinking that this may be a firewall issue. Am I correct to pursue this line? Are there other issues that I should be considering?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you,

Michael

Dear Fellows,

I need to create a custom RBAC management role on Exchange 2010. Rights required are to allow the helpdesk staff to enable/disable the "Hide from Exchange Address Lists" and apply message size restrictions to Exchange mailboxes.

Does any one know which ManagementRole/ManagementRoleEntry I need to use as a parent, for my custom ManagementRole?

Any thoughts/help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.
