We are running Exchange 2007 (sp3 rollup 10) in a single domain. We had a Exchange 2010 hybrid server last year when we evaluated Office 365. That server is uninstalled.

I now want to install Exchange 2013 cu1 on a new server (Windows 2012). The setup fails on Setup.exe /PrepareSchema /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms. I also tried running this on DC-5 server with same result.

The log file is too big to post but can be found here:

Troubleshooting Quarantined Public Folder Mailbox Exchange 2013

$

Greetings,

I am having a recurring issue with public folders under Exchange 2013 standard. It seems the public folder is being quarantined for some reason.

Some facts :

  1. Exchange 2013 running on Windows Server 2012, all updates.
  2. Exchange is in a VM on ESXi, 16Gb RAM and priority to resources over other VMs on this server.
  3. About 30 users on exchange using outlook, about 20 iPads/iPhones/Android devices sync on top.
  4. About 10 of those users actively use the public folder database on a daily basis, but all have access.
  5. The public folder mailbox is sitting in it's own exchange database. About 600Mb of Data.
  6. I've tried migrating to another database, backing up content to pst and reimporting.
  7. I've ran New-MailboxRepairRequests on the quarantined mailbox
  8. Outlook clients do not have any particular add-ins other than the default ones.
  9. Deleting the registry key or running Disable-MailboxQuarantine command and restarting the information store only temporarily solves the problem, and problem gets worse with time.
  10. Running Kaspersky 8 AV on user's computers, with mail add-in, no AV/Antispam on Exchange Server.
  11. Content index state on the database for the public folder database is in a failed state. I've tried to run the Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy "DB\SRV" -CatalogOnly command, but I get the following error message :

Database 'DB\SRV' has only one copy. This task is supported only for databases that have
more than one copy.

I'd like to get this issue sorted out as Public Folders are an important part of our organization for sharing contacts.

e-mails going into junk e-mail folder and Junk E-mail Filtering is turned off

So I've read through a ton of posts on Junk E-mail filtering and what to do if Outlook and OWA Junk e-mail filtering is turned off and yet items are still being delivered to the Junk E-mail folder.

Our SCLJunkThreshold is set to 8, a mailbox that is having this problem has SCLJunkThreshold and SCLJunkEnalbed with no settings, null. Outlook Junk E-mail filtering (ON ALL CLIENTS USED) are set to no filtering and via OWA it is set to no automatic filtering, yet e-mails are going into Junk E-mail folder.

Is this the OrganizationConfig SCLJunkThreshold of 8 that we have doing this?

What do I need to do to stop e-mails from going to the Junk E-mail folder?

By the way, this is Exchange 2010..

Hello,
Hope you’re having a good day there,
I just finished setting up the Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 SP3, WITH 2 DC 2008 R2, the exchange 2007 SP2 is install in a member server not in a domain controller and this is the first time I have configured/ setting up the exchange server. Am not sure about one thing here and I need you guys to help me out with this.
Now after I have completed the installation and the configuration of the exchange server.am not sure which IP address or DNS should be pointed in the Go-Daddy account to forward emails
My Network is setup in Virtual Box I have them all running on PFSENSE
Router setup with IP scheme 10.0.0.x ( router is comcast and has a public Ip totally different) my router is setup with 192.168.1.2 for the client machines. I have Virtual servers running on this one for AD and one for exchange. I have used static IP for both the servers with 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2 for AD and 10.0.0.3 for exchange. Now should I be pointing my exchange IP ie 10.0.0.3 in my go-daddy to create an mx record? or wich one should I use!!

Please guide me in the right direction

Thanks in advance, looking forward for a resolution

Unable to delete some email from mailbox

I am running Exchange 2010 and users are using Outlook 2010. One user sent out a message and then tried to recall it. They received a "Message Recall Failure" notice. However they cannot delete the message recall failure notice email. I've tried deleting it from OWA as well as Outlook. I've turned off cached Exchange mode and I still can't delete the message. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Whenever I try to delete it I just get an error that says "Some items cannot be deleted. They were either moved or already deleted, or access was denied."

I also found that a user can't delete read receipts from some messages but not all.

Exchange 2013 SMTP banner not received

The SMTP banner on our Exchange 2013 server does not appear when we connect via telnet on port 25.

When we run telnet locally on the Exchange 2013 server we receive the SMTP banner. Telnet to Exchange 2013 from another server in the same subnet will connect but we only receive a blank screen, no SMTP banner. If we run telnet on port 2525 from another server in the same subnet we do see the SMTP banner.

The Windows host firewall on Exchange 2013 server is disabled. No AV is installed on the server.

We have restarted Exchange services and even restarted Exchange 2013 server. We are running Exchange 2013 CU1 on Windows 2008 R2. We have both Exchange roles installed on the server. This is a new setup.

Any suggestions?

Hello,

Can i auto accept task requests assigned by users to a service account mailbox? without accepting the task it wont be shown under tasks pane.. and i want it to be listed under tasks in order to use orchestrator to read them.

eventually exchange Integration Pack in orchestrator couldn't read this item type "task requests" but it can read approved tasks, mails, appointments, contacts and calender.

Thanks

Calendar publishing in Exchange 2013, Can’t get events for one or more calendars

I am having issues with an Exchange 2013 environment and calendar publishing.

We need to publish several calendars for public access, When we publish a calendar it all seems to work ok but when you try and view the calendar via the URL is generates you can see no events. You get a little “!” in the top left with "Can’t get events for one or more calendars" the site loads fine and you can browse the calendar but its empty.

I have checked all permissions on the calendars in question and they are all set to give "Public" full access.

The sharing policy is set to allow publishing of calendars to anonymous domains

If you add the calendar to outlook it works fine and you can see all the events so I don’t think it’s a policy or permission issue.

Anyone managed to get this working in Exchange 2013 or seen this error before?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mike

TLS

Exchange 2010

I am trying to set up TLS and have managed to get it up and running. We have a requirement to force TLS to specific domains but are unsure at to how to do this as there is so much differing information.

1. if we use Set-TransportConfig, does this SET TLS for only the domains listed in the TLSService lists, and allow non secure emails to still be sent and received to/from domains not in the lists.

2. Before populating the lists, we wanted to make sure that we could clear the lists , if we could no longer receive non TLS emails from domains outside of the secure list. We have tried the following ( domain name changed for security )

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Set-TransportConfig TLSreceivedomainsecurelist null
A positional parameter cannot be found that accepts argument 'null'.
    + CategoryInfo : InvalidArgument: (:) [Set-TransportConfig], ParameterBindingException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : PositionalParameterNotFound,Set-TransportConfig
    + PSComputerName : xxx.xxxxxxxx.com

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Set-TransportConfig TLSreceivedomainsecurelist $null
A positional parameter cannot be found that accepts argument '$null'.
    + CategoryInfo : InvalidArgument: (:) [Set-TransportConfig], ParameterBindingException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : PositionalParameterNotFound,Set-TransportConfig
    + PSComputerName : xxx.xxxxxxxx.com
