unable to repair corrupt mailbox, unable to view mailbox in OWA after SP1 update

$

Environment: Exchange 2013 SP1 upgraded from Exchange 2013 CU2 (Clustered Mailbox Servers)

Problem: One user (others are fine) cannot access his mailbox through OWA, but can through Outlook and ActiveSync. He could access OWA without a problem before the upgrade.

What I did: Ran New-MailboxRepairRequest on the four tasks with -DetectOnly. The task failed on ProvisionedFolder and FolderView. I ran a New-MailboxRepairRequest on those two without the -DetectOnly and they failed. I checked the event log and the event log says "Online integrity check failed to process mailbox (<name>[<guid>]), error code (NotSupported)." I checked the mailbox version and it matched the server. I migrated the database to the other node and tried again and it gave the same error. Any idea what has gone wrong?

The error he gets in OWA is as follows:

MailTips and OOF issues with Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010

I ran a diagnostic after I got the below message yesterday (The server is unavailable) and some of the logs attached (please see image). There are error for mailtips and OOF coming from exchange.  In addition, when I open up a new message I got MailTips could not be retrieved.  Another user has the same Mailtip message and for her she will get server is unavailable at random time when doing a “Send To” -> Mail recipient.  In addition, when I check my eventlog I received multiple RPC call on Transport error.  It listed as information, but the message said it is an error.  Please let me know if you have any question on the finding.

how to share mailbox calendar to user

We have a generic mailbox that we created as a resource so that its calendar can be shared out to specific users.  They all have OWNER permissions to the mailbox calendar.    However, we need these users to be able to have in the Share option of the calendar the ability to "share calendar, email calendar and set calendar permissions"  We have an Exchange 2013 environment that was recently upgraded from Exchange 2007.  Users are on Outlook 2010

Connection Issues with IMAP/POP3 on Exchagne 2010.

This problem just started happening a few days ago. I have a few users that connect to the Exchange 2010 server via IMAP.

They reported to me that they kept getting messages that they were unable to connect. I had just updated the SSL Certificate on the server so I thought I would go look at the settings for IMAP in the EMC / Server Configuration / Client Access / IMAP4. Being that the authentication was set to using TLS. Made sure the certificate name was correct. This all looked correct. I verified that all users had rights to access the IMAP in AD. All of this appears to be correct.

So I thought well lets remove the TLS and set it to plain text logon and basic authentication. Then made changes to the client machine I was testing this with (outlook client).  On the "Log onto incoming mail server (IMAP)" I get failed with the message, "Log onto incoming mail server (IMAP): General authentication failed. None of the authentication methods supported by your IMAP server (if any) are supported on this computer." I then thought well lets try POP3 and both with and with out encryption I get the same results.

Once again the only thing that has changed is new SSL cert for OWA. Which by chance works fine as well as ActiveSync. All users are getting email via their cell phones and standard exchange connectors for Outlook are working just fine.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Also sorry I put this under Exchange 2013 but there was no Exchange 2010 in the drop down for forums.

Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2013

please read my question and comments carefully before replying.

We just upgraded to Outlook 2013 x64bit and exchange 2010. there is only one exchange server with all updates and fixes installed, and Outlook is up-to-date as well.

User A sends a meeting request with tentative appointment to user B

User B accepts the appointment and it shows on his calendar as tentative

User A changes the appointment from tentative to out of the office or busy and sends update to user B

User B receives the update and click on No Response Required

User B's calendar does NOT change from tentative to out of the office or busy.......

we tried OWA as well as tried this in cached mode and online mode and made no difference.

you can see that communiation is real time between the two clients and exchange because as a test, I changed the words and client machine immediately updated but the free/busy/out of the office status never changes unless you change the time of the appointment.

Please let me know

Add a second mailbox server

Hi,

Management has asked us to look into the possibility of separating all executive mailboxes from the current Exchange server for some unknown reason. We are currently running Exchange 2010 Standard with latest service packs and roll-ups on a 2008 R2 server and are currently utilizing all the mail stores available to us.

We are looking at maybe separating out the the mailboxes and building a second mailbox store server to do this. Question one, can this be done. In theory, all email would still be router through our transport server and we would still have access to it.

Does anyone have another alternative solution?

Thanks,

Hello,

I'm working on Exchange 2013 SP1 in multi-tenant way. So i have one primary Public Folder mailbox (PFROOT) and secondary Public Folder mailbox (CompanyA, CompanyB,...)

According to this thread : http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums/148/t/171520.aspx i have set "defaultpublicfoldermailbox" attributes of my users to "PFROOT" (otherwise parameter is set randomely by Exchange)

If my user userA@companya.com want to create sub folder (mail, calendar, contact,...) on public folder (Owner right) i have the error message :

"The client operation failed."

I have removed/add permission twice and created a lot of Outlook profiles...

I have try to define userA public folder attribute to "companyA" but the error message is :

"Unable to create folder [...] check your permission"...

I can see my Exchangeguid public root mailbox on get-organizationconfig.

Someone have this error too ?

Thanks a lot.

Hi friends!
Need your help.
I want to encrypt databases MS Exchange 2013 (used by Windows server 2012R2).
Use the physical server and storage, which is connected via SAN.
Test use Bitlocker, but there are restrictions that do not allow you to use this option:
1. on the server does not have a TPM module
2. auto unlock, bitlocker operates only when log in to the server

Can you please suggest something?

On the Microsoft site very little information as it can start working with Exchange + Bitlocker.

Thank you.

Unable to export PST from eDiscovery

Hi

I'm trying to export a PST from an eDiscovery result in Exchange 2013.

When using the eDiscovery PST Export Tool I receive the following error:

"Export failed with error type: "FailedToRetrieveSearchConfiguration".
Details: The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found."

We have admin functionality disabled on our main url and use a second virtual folder/address for administration, so I wonder if this may be impacting on it.

Has anyone got any suggestions on how to diagnose and resolve the issue?

Thanks

Andy

Upgrading Exchange Server 2003 to 2010 to 2013 is worth???

Hello there, I am planning to upgrade about 30 users from exchange server 2003 to 2010 and finally to 2013. Is it worth to upgrade in this way because this steps are hard and very time consuming. What if, if I just copy all the user mailboxes directly to exchange server 2013 and configure 2013 as a new exchange server and decommission old exchange server 2003?

How to copy user mailboxes to fresh exchange server 2013?

Please help me out.

Exchange not sending mail to the correct recipient addresses when one of the addresses is incorrect

$

Hi,

I am creating an email msg programatically and sending to the exchange server.

When all the recipient addresses are correct, the mail is sent successfully.

But if one of the addresses is incorrect, the server gives a "550 5.1.1 User unknown" error and theemail msg is not being sent to the correct addresses as well.

When this is tested via Outlook, the mail is sent to the correct addresses and there is an error mail from the server stating that the mail was not sent to the incorrect address, this is the expected behaviour.

What needs to be done to get the expected behaviour? There must be some alternative setting being used by outlook.

Good Morning All

We are running Exchange 2007 SP3 on a Windows 2003 R2 server. From my Windows XP machine I am able to use the export-mailbox command without issue. From my Windows 7 machine I am unable to run this command at all and receive this error "Cannot open the log file 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Logging\MigrationLogs\export-Mailbox20140404-101249-2436620.log'."

Is it possible to use the export-mailbox command from a 64bit Windows 7 machine?

Deletion of EWS on backend

Hi

We've had a recent problem where the EWS application was deleted on the backend server rather than the front end.

Despite recreating the application, we are now receiving some interesting errors on going into inPlace ediscovery and receive the following error:

"No internal Exchange Web Service URL is available for mailbox 'Microsoft Exchange Approval Assistant:fe026ad8-6af7-47d5-a887-4795b7be5258:DBName:Server"

Has anyone any idea on how to fix the issue?

I have just setup a new exchange 2013 server that is in coexistence with my 2007 until I migrate users.  I keep getting a notice from my AD monitoring that the mailbox HealthMailbox with the username sm_0c926F27dd2v43db8 is locked out.  Not sure what to do to resolve this issue.  Don't know if it is an issue or what it is caused by.

Mailbox Delegation / OWA / Outlook 2013 - Exchange 2013

$

We recently deployed Exchange 2013 to our environment and this is the first experience we've had with Exchange.  I'm trying to setup a delegated mailbox that is used by one of our departments and am running into some issues. I've granted Full Access to the mailbox to a user and have tried to then add the mailbox into Outlook 2013 through Account Settings per the instructions that I've been able to find.  I see the mailbox name, but when I try to expand I get the "Cannot expand the folder" message.  I've researched for the past couple of days possible solutions and nothing seems to work.

As I could not get it to work in Outlook, I was going to attempt to do this through OWA.  The issue that I'm having is that when I go into the mailbox I want to grant access to, the instructions I've found say that I'm suppose to right-click on the root folder and select "Permissions".  Well, I don't have a "Permissions" option.  Is there a server setting that I need to set to allow users to do this?

Thanks,

Chris

2 Exchange 2013 Cas and mailbox on both in defferant ad sites with multiple main domains

$

Hi

I have 2 Exchange servers in a single AD forest. Mail1 and mail2

2X 2012 R2 Dc's

There are 2 AD sites Site 1 and site 2

Site 1 = DC1 and Mail 1

Site 2 = DC2 and Mail2

One exchange organisation

2 email external domains = domain1.com and domain2.com

2 wildcard certs *.domain1.com on mail1 and *.domain2.com on mail2

2 different Internet connections one for site 1 and other for site 2 and 2 external Ip address's

Requirements where to split the servers so that domain1.com users send form a different IP address than those of domain2.com. This has been done and works fine by simply setting a exchange connection cost of 100.

Domain1.com users live on mail1 MD1 and domain2.com users are on Mail2 MD2

I am facing an issue on how to connect outlook anywhere so that users in the 2 domains are connecting to their own exchange servers and outlook anywhere will work with autodiscover.

At the moment I have set the outlook provider to domain1.com and this work fine but outlook anywhere will not work for domain2.com

I have only come up with an idea to requester a 3rd mutual domain and then issue a SAN cert that would have all 3 domains in set the outlook provider to domain3.com it and then direct the outlook anywhere users to use the new domain to connect their outlook anywhere clients with.

I don't think the client is going to go for this as he wants the names to be separate

this is like a multitenant on premises set up but cant find any info anywhere on how to proceed.

Any help would be appreciated

Exchange Server 2003 issues AFTER moving DC 2003 to New DC 2012

$

I have moved Active Directory DC 2003 and all its FSMO roles to new 2012 R2 Datacenter Server. I have unchecked the GC option on old 2003. DC 2003 is still running without GC and has Exchange 2003 on it.

Netdom query verifies that all FSMO roles are now on new 2012 Server.

The New 2012 DC has different Server Name and IP address from old DC.

Eventually, I am planning to move 2003 Exchange to another 2012 Server with an upgrade to Exchange 2010 BUT for now, the Exchange Server 2003 which is installed on the same Server as Old 2003 DC having the following issues:

Exchange Information Store/MTA Stacks Services do not Start: Could not Start The Microsoft Exchange Event service on Local Computer. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.

Please help make proper adjustment for 2003 Exchange Server to make it functional. Any advice is appreciated.

PS. I do have the  dcdiag /q command on 2012 DC throw the following error but am not sure if this is Exchange related:

Unable to connect to the NETLOGON share! (\\MYSERVER\netlogon)

Error Event occurred. Event ID: 0x00000448
