Calendar Items from Imported PST Files Cannot Be Modified

$

I have a customer that had their 2008 DC crash with no backup.  They created a new AD domain with a new name with all the same users.  Then they exported all mailboxes as PST files and imported them into the recreated mailboxes.  Now, when trying to modify a calendar entry, they get a "Don't have permission" error.

My research says this is a known problem that has to do with an incorrect LegacyExchangeDNS attribute.  It can be fixed by using the old AD's attribute and adding it as an X500 address on the new Domain.  Unfortunately, the old DC is toast.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Thanks!

Exchange 2010 - Disconnected Mailbox

Hello

We have Exchange 2010 server. I have noticed that on one of the drives (Mailbox Data store )has very low disk space left.

I have done New local Move request to bunch of users but still doesn't seem to free up the free.

Also i have more than 100 disconnected Mailbox and quite a few of them show that its from the same database as above on the low disk space.

I run Remove-Mailbox -identity "John Brown"

and got an error 'The Operation couldn't be performed because object 'John Brow' couldn't be found on DC'

run this cmd as well

Get-MailboxStatistics -Database "Mailbox Database 08310xxxx | Where-Object {$_.DisconnectDate -Notlike $NULL} | FL DisplayName, DisconnectDate, MailboxGuid

Error iam getting - Mailbox database "xx xx0 8310xxxx "doesnt exist.

I would like to clear all the Discconnected mailbox and how can i free up the disk What can i delete?

If any one has experience this please share. Thank you

Cheers

How to disable access to the Exchange Admin Center from external users but still allowing the external users to access the ECP site.

$

Hi,

I guess that subject says it all. I'm trying to figure out how to block external users from accessing the  Exchange Admin Center but still allowing external users to access the ECP. I found some useful documentation on the net but it was not the answer I was looking for, such as:

1. Using the Powershel cmdlet which disables access from everyone.

2. Adding the "IP and Domain Restrictions" feature and allowing the company's internal network and denying the rest.  I thought this was the answer but although users are not able to access EAC from the outside they are also not able to access ECP.

Is there any workaround?

Thanks,

Phil

Removing a default database

Hello!

One more strange issue: in all my deployments of Exchange Server 2013SP1 I always start from removing a default mb database and I never had any problems with it. The procedure is ~ as follows:

1) I create a new mailbox db.
2) Get-Mailbox –Arbitration | New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase “NewDB”
3) Get-Mailbox –Monitoring| New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase “NewDB”
4) Get-Mailbox | New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase “NewDB”

5) Make sure Administrator account has been moved to the new db.

6) Delete the default db.
7) Restart
8) Log on to ECP as Administrator.

Today the two new installations end up  with the following error on 8)  "Log on to ECP as Administrator":

The IIS log shows this:

"2015-04-17 13:56:17 fe80::191b:2b21:3254:ddd%12 POST /owa/auth.owa &CorrelationID=<empty>;&cafeReqId=8bb165df-6c57-49f0-9ee9-9590c6f981db; 443 TestCompany\Administrator fe80::191b:2b21:3254:ddd%12 Mozilla/5.0+(Windows+NT+6.3;+WOW64;+Trident/7.0;+rv:11.0)+like+Gecko https://exch1.testcompany.com/owa/auth/logon.aspx?replaceCurrent=1&url=https%3a%2f%2fexch1.testcompany.com%2fowa 500 0 0 15"

Looks like the Administrator's mailbox has not been moved into the new database, butGet-MoveRequest and Get-Mailbox... showed that Administrator's mailbox was really in the new db.

Moreover, right after deletion of the default db (after item 6) I signed out from ECP and logged back to it - the logon was successfull (at this moment the default database had been already deleted!). And only after restarting the server it started showing this error.

While logged on as Administrator I created one more exchange administrative user account in the new db - it doesn't experience any issues with logging on to ECP.

No errors show in any Windows logs.

What should I check in this situation?

Thank you in advance,

Michael

Exchange 2010 - Meeting request signature with images fails to send?

Hi There,

I have outlook 2010 working with exchange 2010 in-house ( just upgraded from exchange 2003, on the way to 2013)

However when i send a meeting request with an image (jpg, png or gif) in the body of the meeting request it does delivered.

The image can be part of a signature or just inserted, either way it can't be delivered out of our exchange server.

(Its not our email scanning service as we see that messages go through that nice and fast - if they get out of exchange.)

What's also also odd is that after a couple of hours the png and Gif attachments came through. Word attachment in the meeting requests are fine.   But no Jpg's.

All normal emails with images are fine.

Any ideas on why this is?

Many thanks

Stuart

Meeting Request not showing up in sent items / inbox

Hi all,

One of the user in our organization Is facing a unique problem.

Any meeting request accepted / rejected notification  doesn't appear in his inbox at all. The meeting request updates his calendar but no accept / declined messages appear in his inbox / sent items.

I have checked there are no rules in his outlook 2013 client.

Also checked calendar notification on exchange 2013 and they are identical to my settings but I am able to get accepted / rejected notifications in my inbox.

Kindly advise what could be the root cause of such an error.

thads

Exchange 2013 Availability monitoring

Hi All,

I'm sort of stuck on the Exchange 2013 Probe Monitors, Monitors such as Imap, ActiveSync, Pop3 and FrontEndTransport keep failing. To fix/check the issue I'm following the below links:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms.exch.scom.activesync(v=exchg.150).aspx

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms.exch.scom.imap(v=exchg.150).aspx

For example typing in Invoke-MonitoringProbe ActiveSync\ActiveSyncCTPProbe -Server server1.contoso.com | Format-List

I will get the following error:

WARNING: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.
Parameter name: index

Not sure why I'm getting this error.

For Imap testing i.e. typing in Invoke-MonitoringProbe IMAP\ImapCTPProbe -Server server1.contoso.com | Format-List

I will get the following error:

WARNING: No mailboxes were found to use in the CTP probe.

I'm absolutely stumped on why I'm getting these errors.

I'm running my Exchange servers on Hyper-V 2012 (My Hyper-V 2012 is clustered and managed by VMM 2012 SP1)

I have 8 Exchange 2013 Enterprise CU6 nodes, with 2 DAGS

Each Exchange server is running 4 cores of Processor and 24Gig of Ram (Not using Dynamic Memory)

If someon can shed some light on this issue it would be most appreciated.

Regards

Mike

2. Auto discovery IP change on DNS

3. Shut down 2 CAS servres

4. Shut Down 2 Mailbox servers

unfortunately users are not able to connect to DR site and i couldnt open the ECP site from DR ( login prompt comes but after authentication it blank)

on the DR Exchange OWA virtual directories Internal directory URL is not the same as production.

Exchange 2013 external outlook autodisover password prompt

$

I've set up a new infrastructure for our network with a 2k12 DC and a 2k12 member running Exchange 2013. The internal domain is set up like ad.domainname.com and I've configured mailflow for domain.com on Exchange which works perfectly. Internal autodiscover works like a charm and with https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/ I get green results for the autodiscover.domain.com on activesync, autosetup and outlook connectivity. I've used a comodo wildcard ssl certificate for the domain.

However when I try to use autosetup on outlook it gives a password prompt on both the 2nd and 3rd step which I have to enter like domainname\username to get past them. After that it works fine but I want it to configure automatically without the extra password prompt.

On mobile devices it searches for the settings and then asks for the servername and domain credentials. I would like this to be auto configured as well but I can't find the reason why it prompts for this.

Auto Forwarding what happens?

I have a question about the auto forwarding setting for remote domains. I have Exchange 2010 SP3 RU7. So, due to new security policies we disabled auto forwarding of emails to external domains. It works easy enough. However, my question  is there any where within exchange logs/event viewer where i can go to see evidence that the emails set to auto forward are actually being dropped?

So far i have found no indication that it is occurring. So, can anyone point me to a location where i can find such evidence?

Thanks in advance.

Moving Public mailboxes in 2013 to another 2013 exchange environment

$

I have a client that has a hosted Exchange 2013 environment in a data center. They have decided to leave that data center and move to another data center that we run. I have recreated the entire AD structure and a new instance of Exchange 2013. Below are the details

old data center - One server with exchange 2013 running as the cas and store

New data center - 2 Servers - 1 as Cas, other as Store

All recipient mailboxes have been exported from old server to and imported into new server

They have 2 public mailboxes that have been created that both hold a number of public folders inside of them. I need to find a way to export these 2 public mailboxes (while keeping the folder structure) and then import them into the new Store. All i seem to find is how to migrate from exchange 2003, or 2010. There is no documentation on moving from one 2013 instance to another. Does anyone have any suggestions at all. I am very familiar with Powershell and scripting just need to know the commands to to the export and imports.

hi,

have a hybrid scenario, exchange 2013 and office 365

what command should I use to search and delete an email from the organization mailbox i.e. I do not want that email to be in any users inbox.

I have tried this command but it does not work, it says search-mailbox is not recognized as the name of the command let.

Get-Mailbox -ResultSize unlimited | Search-Mailbox -SearchQuery 'Subject:"Download this file"' -DeleteContent

kindly assist.

Greetings

Currently i am using Exchange 2007 setup (xyz.com) and it is not published to the internet i.e. only the Domain joined users have access to it and mx records are not hosted for xyz.com

And have hosted solution (abc.com)

Now, I am planning to upgrade the Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 infra. But here my requirement is to use abc.com as the email address domain.

My plan is to migrate and add abc.com in accepted domain. Please suggest if this can be achieved by doing so and if yes, what other changes i need to plan as i want to have the same email address domain (abc.com) having the virtual directories by the same name (mail.abc.com)

Please provide yours inputs.

Thanks

Exchange 2013 ECP 503 error

$
0
0

I have a problem with my two Exchange 2013 servers. There are no mailboxes on the servers, because we are just beginning our migration from Exchange 2007. We are running Exchange 2013 SP1 on Server 2012R2

When I try to access ecp/owa on ex01 (https://localhost or https://ex01.domain.local), I am presented with a login page, but after entering my credentials, I get a 503 error:

Service Unavailable HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable

On ex02, I can RDP to the server and log into ecp/owa just fine. However, if I log in (https://ex02.domain.local) from another computer (like my PC), I get the same credential page and 503 error.

I verified the following:

  • All of the application pools and Exchange services are started
  • I do not have any instances of event 2280 in the Application log
  • I have also restarted the server
  • Local security policy shows that Administrators and Backup Operators have "Allow log on locally" permission

This feels like a permissions issue in IIS, but I'm not sure.

My ECP virtual directory settings (both servers) look like this:

  • InternalAuthenticationMethods : {Basic, Fba}
  • BasicAuthentication : True
  • WindowsAuthentication : False
  • DigestAuthentication : False
  • FormsAuthentication : True
  • LiveIdAuthentication : False
  • AdfsAuthentication : False
  • OAuthAuthentication : False
  • ExternalAuthenticationMethods : {Fba}

Why won't ex01 let me log in and why would the login on ex02 work from the server, but 503 from my machine? Thanks.
