Exchange 2013 Page Zeroing

$
0
0

I'm trying to find out if the Page Zeroing function in Exchange 2013 will make deleted items totally non-recoverable, even at the forensic level?

I'm led to believe that the process involves the overwriting of any "white space" in the EDB with a pattern of characters and if that's the case I would imagine that this is non-recoverable?

We have a client that wants to be sure that when emails are fully deleted in their Exchange 2013 environment, there's no chance of them being recovered by any forensic methods?

Cheers for now

Russell

Meeting Request not showing up in sent items / inbox

Hi all,

One of the user in our organization Is facing a unique problem.

Any meeting request accepted / rejected notification  doesn't appear in his inbox at all. The meeting request updates his calendar but no accept / declined messages appear in his inbox / sent items.

I have checked there are no rules in his outlook 2013 client.

Also checked calendar notification on exchange 2013 and they are identical to my settings but I am able to get accepted / rejected notifications in my inbox.

Kindly advise what could be the root cause of such an error.

regards,

thads

Resource Room Acceptance Messages

We work with international users, some of whom, unfortunately, do not always understand every word of the English language. Is there any way to modify theentire message of when a resource mailbox accepts a meeting request, and moreover, is there a way to differentiate between whether the meeting request was approved or denied.

Just to be clear, i'm not talking about adding an addendum to the message like shown here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124505%28v=exchg.141%29.aspx, but rather the entire message.

Thanks,

Reuvy

Removing a default database

$

Hello!

One more strange issue: in all my deployments of Exchange Server 2013SP1 I always start from removing a default mb database and I never had any problems with it. The procedure is ~ as follows:

1) I create a new mailbox db.
2) Get-Mailbox –Arbitration | New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase “NewDB”
3) Get-Mailbox –Monitoring| New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase “NewDB”
4) Get-Mailbox | New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase “NewDB”

5) Make sure Administrator account has been moved to the new db.

6) Delete the default db.
7) Restart
8) Log on to ECP as Administrator.

Today the two new installations end up  with the following error on 8)  "Log on to ECP as Administrator":

The IIS log shows this:

"2015-04-17 13:56:17 fe80::191b:2b21:3254:ddd%12 POST /owa/auth.owa &CorrelationID=<empty>;&cafeReqId=8bb165df-6c57-49f0-9ee9-9590c6f981db; 443 TestCompany\Administrator fe80::191b:2b21:3254:ddd%12 Mozilla/5.0+(Windows+NT+6.3;+WOW64;+Trident/7.0;+rv:11.0)+like+Gecko https://exch1.testcompany.com/owa/auth/logon.aspx?replaceCurrent=1&url=https%3a%2f%2fexch1.testcompany.com%2fowa 500 0 0 15"

Looks like the Administrator's mailbox has not been moved into the new database, butGet-MoveRequest and Get-Mailbox... showed that Administrator's mailbox was really in the new db.

Moreover, right after deletion of the default db (after item 6) I signed out from ECP and logged back to it - the logon was successfull (at this moment the default database had been already deleted!). And only after restarting the server it started showing this error.

While logged on as Administrator I created one more exchange administrative user account in the new db - it doesn't experience any issues with logging on to ECP.

No errors show in any Windows logs.

What should I check in this situation?

Thank you in advance,

Michael

we have finished migration from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 sp1, find under exchange cache model, that outlook sending message without attachment would be 1s to get out of outbox, but message with 3M attachment would be remain in  outbox for about 30s, then moved to sent items, 6M about 50s, that only heppened in exchange 2013 not exchange 2007, I've disable the anti-virus, but the issue still, and I find the owa has no this issue. Our lan network is no problem, speed is very gook.

Please help to look int this issue.

How to remove / uninstall Exchange 2013 Microsoft Document.

Dear Support,

We have just finished a complete migration from Exchange 2013 to Office 365 Exchange Plan.

Our on-premise Exchange 2013 has been powered off for the last three weeks and we are now ready to proceed and remove and delete Exchange 2013 from our Windows 2012r2 domain.

Our domain is as follows :

Windows 2012r2 ( 2 x Domain Controllers)

Exchange 2013 ( 1 Server with around 80 mailboxes and some PF)

I cant seem to find an official Microsoft guide on "How to remove Exchange 2013 completely"

Once again my exchange server still has all of its database etc, we have simply power it off and are ready to uninstall it, I just a MS Guide to follow, I've seen loads of various posts but no official instructions.

Cheers

Roger

SOFS support for Exchange Server 2013

$

Hi all,

I am aware of the following factors:

1. Exchange only supports block-level storage

2. Using SoFS as DAG FSW is not supported.

But may I confirm whether Microsoft supports the scenario below?

==============================================

My client has one set of Windows 2012 R2 Scale-Out File Servers to support their hyper-V farm. Storage is Dell MD3000 with Windows 2012 R2 Storage Space. Is it supported by Microsoft to run Exchange Server 2013 and Exchange Server 2010 in the virtual machines which are running on SoFS? Assume IOPS has been properly sized.

William

Exchange Indexing Not Working For Some Users

$

I know this is Exchange 2013 forum but I see that Exchange 2010 has been removed so I'm hoping someone can still help me out. We are planning to soon move to Exchange 2013 but in the meantime I've been having some indexing/search issues.

We have a particular mail database for one of our departments and after the database was moved to a new disk, the indexing has never been the same since. To remedy this, I had enabled the Windows search feature on the application server (we have Outlook 2013 hosted as a RemoteApp application with the use of user profile disks) and had them switch to cached mode which seems to be hit or miss. I also have tried following the recommended procedure of stopping the search indexer service on Exchange and then I deleted the catalog data folder and then restarted the service to have it rebuild the indexes for the particular database. I have also confirmed through the management shell that the index is in a healthy state for the database.

I have now requested for the user that is testing to disabled cached mode to see if the indexes on the Exchange server will be better and I am awaiting feedback but I thought I would be preemptive and see what any suggestions you all may have with dealing with Outlook / search indexing.

Thank you in advance for your time!

Delivery Report Email Showing Big (MBytes) Size

$

Dear All,

I am having issue in delivery report email size in Exchange 2013 CU3 environment. If we send email, regardless of plain text or html type, with attachment having X MB size, and using delivery receipt option, the delivery report email also has the same X MB size. I have tested by sending email on Outlook 2013 RTM, Outlook 2010 SP2, and OWA Environment. All tests give the same result, the same size of delivery report email and email sent. Read receipt email size is still normal, around 10 KBytes.

In Exchange 2010, I found delivery report size will not exceed 20 KBytes.

This Exhange 2013 environment is upgraded from Exchange 2010.

Many thanks for your help.

Re-Create Arbitration Mailbox

$

I mistakenly deleted the system mailboxes.

The error I noticed is Scenario: ProcessOrgExtensions. The organization mailbox for ***.com could not be retrieved.  Event: 3054.  Also Outlook now shows "updating address book" for an extended period of time.

I recreated user accounts using setup /PrepareAD.  No issue there.

Then the command:

Enable-Mailbox -Arbitration -DomainController <FQDN of root global catalog server> -Identity "SystemMailbox{e0dc1c29-89c3-4034-b678-e6c29d823ed9}"

This should enable the arbitration mailbox and everything should be fixed...but I get the following error.

At this point I am not sure how to get past this step. As far as I can tell I have done everything correctly, outside of causing the issue in the first place. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oversize Message Mailtip is pop-up dialog only?

$
0
0

I feel like I've searched this to death, but maybe I'm missing something.

Normal mail tips (large # of recipients, out of office, etc) appear as an "in line" at the top of a new email. Wonderful.

But when I set a maxsendsize on a mailbox, the mailtip for the user appears in a pop-up dialog. I just want to confirm this is by design?

I would like the ability to simply warn users when they are sending a large email with an "in-line" mailtip, as opposed to restricting it. Even better, I'd like to customize a mailtip with a link (ex sendthisfile.com link or something) when they attempt to (wishful thinking?). Without blocking it completely. The existing rules don't let you mix "maxmessagesize" with "policytip" though.

I can sort of do this at the transport level with a rule that returns an ndr to the user, but by then the user has already saved it in their sent items and wasted the time transporting to their mail server.

If anyone has any clarification, ideas, or direction for me.... I'm all ears.

Strange Exchange name when connecting with Outlook 2013 to Exchange server 2013 SP1

$

I've setup a test environment with Windows Server standard 2012 R2 and Exchange Server 2013 SP1...

In- and outbound SMTP works fine, as well as connecting with OWA and Mac Outlook client...

Oddly though when setting up an Outlook 2013 connection....it recognizes the email address correctly, but later on can't connect and shows a dialog to enter the server and email account manually....though the profiled fields show something like:

Exchange Server: 32857e39-d12d-4adf-b4b9-83822442a3db@mydomain.net

Mailbox: =SMTP:richard@mydomain.net

When I fill in the right fields....it won't connect and falls back to the values above...

Something wrong in the Exchange setup?

Question about Exchange Licensing

$

Hi everyone

i need to buy the correct cals for exchange for my customer
after reading forums and contacting Microsoft still I m still confused to what to buy

i hope someone here can ask me :)

let say the scenario:

in 2004 my customer buyed this:

there are 15 secretary with 15 pc in active directory connected to windows server std 2003 on which it was installed exchange std 2003, the pc use some folders on server for documents and 14 of these secretary have a personal mailbox on exchange, so i bought 15 device cals for windows server and 15 device cals for exchange (one for a generic mailbox).

in every computer i created two outlook profiles, one for the person (nadia@xxx.com) and one for a generic mailbox (let say info@xxx.com which is on the exchange itself)

so the users can read the generic emails other than his personal mails, switching between the 2 outlook profiles

In 2014 we needed to expand space due to the 75gb limit so we buyed a new windows server std 2012 (downgraded to 2008) and exchange 2013 (downgraded to 2010) plus 5 user windows cals and 5 user exchange cals.

I migrated the more big mailboxes (5) to the new server so i got free space on the old server.

now the scenario is this: 10 users still use their old mailbox on 2003 server and the other 5 user access the new exchange server 2010 and ofc still they have an outlook profile to info@xxx.com which is on the 2003 server.

To regolarize the licensing situation which cals should i buy? and how many?

thanks a lot
