Event ID 1007

Running Exchange 2013, CU8 and I am noticing Event ID 1007 stating "Failed to create or start performance logs with error: System.ArgumentException: Value does not fall within the expected range."  Everything seems to be working ok, but this error appears several times per day. It is always followed by event id 4999 - which is a Watson report that seems to be related.  Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this is greatly appreciated.

thanks,

I’m manually updating Malware  agent, with “Update-Engines.ps1” script.

Should I include all engines or are all required, or I should use  only Microsoft Engine

It shows the domain controllers being used by Exchange

Outlook Web App not receiving emails but sends emails

Hi

I am using Exchange server 2013 for test purpose on local machines (Everything on LAN). I implemented exchange on member server. client on physical machine. Added MX records. When users logon from Outlook Web App, they can send emails to each other  but they are unable to receive emails from each other. Where is the problem?

Possible to restrict delivery to Distribution List that needs to accept e-mails from external senders?

$

We have about 20k distribution lists and many of them are setup to allow senders that are unauthorized so that they can accept e-mails from external senders. Recently we have had a few of them be attacked from external senders either by spoofing our address to millions of recipients and then the distribution list users get any of the responses or simply by sending undetected SPAM/malware directly to our distribution lists.

Is there a way to use "Accept Messages From" at the domain level?   I would like to say something like all e-mails from @cisco.com but do not want to create a contact for everyone that needs to send us e-mails from cisco.com.

Appreciate the feedback.

I can't find this feature...

I worked with a company where I could execute the following...

Imagine please that my email address is: jsmith@company.com

I could go into my Email Service Provider's system (Experian Cheetahmail, e-Dialog, etc...)...Let's say I have a marketing email I'm preparing and it includes various dynamic content elements. To test each dynamic content iteration, I need to be able to send test emails to different email addresses.

To fulfill this need, my Exchange Server had the capability to accept values after a hyphen, without rejecting them...Forwarding them all to me. I did not have to pre-define any aliases. This was completely arbitrary and I could add whatever I wanted to after the hyphen. Examples of what I would use would be: jsmith-1@company.com, jsmith-test1@company.com, etc. I couldn't use spaces (obviously) but I could include anything I wanted after the dash, it didn't just have to be a number, (E.g. jsmith-applesauce@company.com).

When received into the Exchange Server, the system knew to IGNORE the hyphen, and all values after it, leading up to the "@" symbol...Therefore delivering all emails to my inbox successfully. Please note it "Ignored" it...It didn't "Strip" the values...I needed them retained when reaching my inbox so I could trace any issues back with the dynamic content in the ESP's system.

Any ideas out there how this was done? Any native MS software add-ons for Exchange that will do this?

Thanks!

-Brian

Currently have published OWA through Web application proxy (Exchange 2013)

Typing in https://webmail.contoso.com/owa which redirects to our mail server for OWA.

question is - if i user types into browser https://webmail.contoso.com

can i redirect this request so that OWA opens?  - currently https://webmail.contoso.com lands at page can't be displayed.

thanks in advance.

If a room mailbox is opened as shared calendar in outlook and double click on in the calendar to make an appointment/meeting. It makes room as an "Organizer", not the person who is making this request.

Any Idea?

I'm setting up Good ent user and I want to set calendar processing true for all the mailboxes

When I run

Get-Mailbox | set-CalendarProcessing - ProcessExternalMeetingMessages   -True

it gives the errors that this can only be applied to Room Maikboxes - which make sense. So How Do I implement it for regualr mailboxes? Do I need to assign a policy if so then how?

Thanks

Hello,

We have domain name i.e. aaaa.com hosted by bluehost.com include our mail server.

We have old Exchange Server 2010. The server is for mailbox storage, so far so good.

When we upgraded to Exchange Server 2013, outlook 2007 can't connect to new server anymore.

I checked new Exchange server is HTTP over RPC. I followed setup step by step.

I can't find Exchange Proxy Server setting. I used Exchange Server's IP address for Proxy, just give me error can't connect.

How can I find Exchange Proxy Server?

Thanks

Unable to login to ECP

Exchange 2013 SP1 with a 2 member DAG. Starting today, administrator is not able to login to ecp. When you put your username and password in and click sign in, the page flashes the password field is cleared with no error message. The same thing happens of the server with the passive copy. I followed the advise on this thread:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/a07fa978-81cf-4722-b222-eaa981e680d2/exchange-server-2013-ecp-login?forum=exchangesvrdeploy

to run

set-ecpvirtualdirectory -Identity "ecp (default web site)" -windowsauthentication $true -formsauthentication $false

do an ipconfig /flushdns on your desktop.

log in to your ecp with https://yourservername/ecp/?exchclientver=15

and the same thing happens. I restarted the server with the active copy, same problem. Email is flowing both ways (send and receive). On the server with the active copy, these errors are in the application log after the restart:

Microsoft Exchange Server Locator Service failed to find active server for database 'b167e9f8-98a2-4635-a6da-17cc153dadc8'. Error: An Active Manager operation failed. Error: Invalid Active Manager configuration. Error: The Cluster service is not running.

But the cluster service IS running and cluster manager reports 0 issues. Cluster service IS running on both servers. More errors:

About a msExchQueryBaseDN

We are testing migration Ex2010 to Ex2013.

msExchQueryBaseDN worked on Ex2010.

but does not work on Ex2013?

In Ex 2010 if we use msExchQueryBaseDN = OU=teachers,DC=contoso,DC=local

It will show only ame OU object on GAL.

But in Ex 2013 shows All addresses.

We want same setting on Ex 2013 . so does anybody have an idea ?

Exchange 2013 CU2 ASP.NET event ID 1309 : MapiExceptionMailboxInTransit and MapiExceptionIllegalCrossServerConnection

$

In an Exchange2013 CU2 environment with 4 mailbox servers (2 each in a different site) and separate front end servers (also 2 each in a different site) I find the application evenlogs on mailbox servers littered (500 events per 24 hours) with Event ID: 1309, Event Source: ASP.NET. With common underlying exeptions "MapiExceptionMailboxInTransit" and "MapiExceptionIllegalCrossServerConnection"
The errors seem to be caused by attempts to login to https://localhost:444/owa/proxylogon.owa using the userID of a Health monitoring mailbox that is actively mounted on a different mailboxserver.

I theorize that this to be a bug in the Exchange Health manager (not keeping track of where mailboxes are actively mounted) but can't say that for sure.

Any suggestion on how to "turn off" this check in the health manager configuration so I don't get all these false positive messages ?

reminders from shared calendars

Is there an elegant way to get reminders to hit all users on a shared calendar, instead of just the item originator?

If john doe adds an appt to a shared, he gets the reminder, not everyone else ... google-fu tells me that this won't really work, but much evidence of hacky workarounds that date back a few years.

wondering if perhaps there's a 'better way' in 2015?

I've recently decided to try out exchange 2013 on Windows Server 2012.
Ran in some troubles (probably because I renamed my site in IIS) So I deleted that, made a new site and reïnstalled Exchange 2013.

Seems al of these problems are caused by "Setup can't contact the primary DNS server "
I can't find any problems with connecting to DNS...

What's going on?

Just wondering why N2K /recent contacts are not stored in the mailbox rather than on the client in an nk2 file...?

when emailing someone in OWA 2013 it remembers the email address across OWA sessions but does this then pull does to outlook and vice versa?

Hi

I am seeing if it possible to natively, through PowerShell migrate Public folders from 2007 and 2010 to 2013 on premise?

I cannot find any documentation from MS on this solution for Cross-Forest, only within the same organisations. URL https://technet.microsoft.com/en-GB/library/dn912663(v=exchg.150).aspx

if this is possible and if it is documented please could anybody share? Or is it only possible using 3rd party tools?

Thanks

Cant open Exchange 2013 mailboxes by Exchange 2013 user, using MFCMAPI tool
