Exchange 2010/2013 Coexistence question

$

Hello support team ,

We are planning to deploy Exchange 2013 "Exchange 2010/2013 Coexistence"

Just wondering Will there be any disruption of our internal/external email delivery for the OWA Outlook 2010 user access during Exc2013 installation and config ?

We utilize OWA internal / external access and Outlook anywhere has been enabled on exchange 2010.

I just want to make sure our internal/external email on the Exchange 2010 server works, until Exchange 2013 is fully tested ,configured and all user mailboxes have been migrated across.

I understand that Exchange 2010/2013 Coexistence will need to point all Clients access to the Exc2013 CAS server.

Thank you

SSL Certificate for Exchange 2013 status is not appearing as "Valid"

Hi,

I have got issued UCC SSL certificate for Exchange 2013 from GoDaddy. After receiving certificate when we imported it to Exchange 2013 CAS server its status was appearing as "Revocation Check Failed". We tried couple of things but no luck. Now, we have deleted that certificate.

what would be next step? do we need to regenerate CSR and resubmit it to third party CA (in our case, it is GoDaddy)?

Please assist.

-SubmissionServerOverrideList in Exchange 2013

Back in Exchange 2010, the Set-MailboxServer cmdlet had a parameter named SubmissionServerOverrideList, which would instruct the respective mailbox server which Hub Transport server to notify when new messages were to be picked up from the users' mailboxes.

Looking at the corresponding Exchange 2013 version of the same cmdlet, we now find out that the SubmissionServerOverrideList is reserved for internal Microsoft use. Has something changed or become deprecated in the meantime ?

Unable to get free/busy lookups working using availabilityaddressspace

Dear all, I ma having serious problems getting Exchange to look up free/busy information cross-forest.

The scenario is this:

A free/busy Component server has been set up between Exchange and a different mail system. Locally on the free/busy component server the lookups to the other mailsystem works fine, so I know this is not the cause of the issue.

To allow for the Exchange system to do its lookups, an availabilityaddressspace is added for the other system, pointing to the URL of the free/busy component server (TargetAutodiscoverEpr) and the URL has been verified working from the Exchange server.

The Remote users are added in Exchange as mailcontacts with a targetaddress that belongs to the other system, and another component is used to route mail to it. This works perfectly, so no issues with the mailrouting either.

When I try to book a meeting with a user on the other system, I get an error in Outlook 2010 (with Diagnostics enabled) that says:Unable to send cross-forest request for mailbox <Displayname>SMTP:name.lastname@domain.com because of invalid configuration., inner exception: Microsoft.Exchange.InfoWorker.Common.Availability.AddressSpaceNotFoundException: Configuration information for forest/domain domain.com could not be found in Active Directory.

I am really wondering what I am missing in Exchange that prevents it from looking up the information from Active Directory, or what exactly is missing. The thing is, this system has been installed exactly like other systems in the same organization and the other locations are working fine. I have narrowed it down to having something to do with this exact Exchange installation.

Any ideas?

Why a user cannot email a particular email address

Hi. I am in MS Exchange 2010 and Outlook environment. Meghan's email bounces back when she tries to email Kim who is on the same GAL but different domain. I am on the same domain as Meghan and I can email Kim without a problem. Both Meghan and I can email user Nadia. Nadia is on Kim's domain.

So we know it is a Meghan to Kim problem. Meghan can receive email from all of us without problem.

We have cleared the cache (deleted .nk2). even had her try 'reply' from her work email on her phone instead of the computer. Meghan tried to reply directly to Kim's email without luck;

Why is Meghan not able to email Kim?

Here is one of the error messages received (modified to secure users name and domain names):

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:

Cxxxx, Kimberly - (XYZ City)

There is a problem with the recipient's e-mail system. More than one person has this e-mail address. The recipient's system administrator will have to fix this problem.

Exchange 2013/2007 coexistence issues

$

Hello,
I'm having an issue getting Exchange 2013/2007 coexistence working correctly. My customer has Exchange 2007 SP3 RU15 on Server 2008, and a new Exchange 2013 CU8 on Server 2012 R2. We are migrating on-premise to Office 365. All production mailboxes reside on Ex07.

I have not switched any production DNS records thus far, and am using only HOSTS file to test proxy/redirection. Here's what I am seeing:
-OWA: redirects from Ex13 to Ex07 fine.
-ActiveSync: proxies from Ex13 to Ex07 fine.
-Autodiscover: will not proxy from Ex13 to Ex07 using default authentication methods. Getting 401 errors. I am able to get around this by using Basic Auth, but it's not ideal.
-EWS: If a user attempts to browse to https://autodiscover.company.com/ews/exchange.asmx (which using HOSTS file is pointed at Ex13 CAS), the user is presented a login popup. An Ex13 mailbox user enters credentials and sees the content on the page. An Ex07 mailbox user gets the same login popup, enters credentials and the login popup reappears and the user will never see the content on the page. Getting 401 errors in the IIS logs. If the Ex07 mailbox user browses to the server name instead -https://<servername>.company.com/ews/exchange.asmx - the user can successfully authenticate and see the content on the page. This is pretty similar to what I was seeing with Autodiscover prior to changing the auth methods.

This EWS authentication issue I believe is now causing Ex07 mailboxes free/busy and calendar lookup issues to O365 as the AvailabilityAddressSpace URL matches the EWS URL of the Ex13 CAS server. An Ex13 mailbox can view the calendar for an O365 user just fine.

As a sanity check, I mirrored this environment in a lab, and all the above things work as expected. I have validated all vdir permissions and authentication methods from the lab to this production environment.

Hi All,

I have one cas and one db exchange 2013 servers.

I find that once i set the user regional setting to English(Hong Kong), owa will prompt a error msg as below:

something went wrong

Sorry, we can't get that information right now. Please try again later. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk.

X-ClientId: RCQK - POTE - WQNE - IGNHG X-OWA-Error: ScriptLoadError;Failed to load script: https://XXXXXX/owa/prem/15.0.1076.9/scripts/globalize/globalize.culture.en-hk.js X-OWA-Version: null X-FEServer: XXX-XXX01 X-BEServer: undefined

Once i change the regional setting to other language, Chinese, English US, the user can access owa normally.

I have search it but don't find any related information. My exchange server is fresh install and most recent update patched

Script to remove all of the management entries of a role

Hi all,

I want to remove all of the role entries of a custom management role. For example, I create a role:
New-ManagementRole -Name 'test1' -Parent 'Mail Recipients'

Then, I want to remove all of the role entries in this role. Here is what I tried:
Get-ManagementRoleEntry "test1\*" | Remove-ManagementRoleEntry
I got the following error message:
======================

Cannot process argument transformation on parameter 'Identity'. Cannot convert value "test1" to type "Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.RoleEntryIdParameter". Error: "The format of the value you specified in the Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.RoleEntryIdParameter parameter isn't valid. Check the value, and then try again.
Parameter name: identity"
    + CategoryInfo : InvalidData: (test1:PSObject) [Remove-ManagementRoleEntry], ParameterBindin...mationException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : ParameterArgumentTransformationError,Remove-ManagementRoleEntry

=========================

Can someone help about the PowerShell script to achieve the goal?

PS1: It's in Exchange 2013 (I remember I encountered the same issue in 2010)
PS2: I don't have enough permissions. In other words, I cannot create a unscopedtoplevel management role. What I can do is to remove all of the role entries in the children role.

TIA

Exchange account on smartphone: what is wiped, what power does admin have?

$

I have been unable to find answers to 2 questions on TechNet, hoping one of you in the forums can help. I am an Exchange administator.

Environment: Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 hosted on premises

Question 1:
When you as administrator in Exchange Admin Center perform a wipe of someone's device, does it wipe only the Exchange account or everything on the device? Microsoft says it wipes "their phone clean of all corporate and user information" (source technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998614(v=exchg.150).aspx) but doesn't clarify if that user information is the Exchange information only or all personal stuff, too.

Question 2:
A user wants to add Exchange email to her Samsung Galaxy phone. When she goes to add it, she's presented with a screen of about 20 security policies that she must accept before she can finish adding the account. My question is: what power does the Exchange Admin Center give an administrator? Our default OWA for Devices policy is "Password required, 4 characters, lock device after 15 minutes" and "wipe data after 8 attempts to enter password." As far as I know, this is all the power I have. However, her phone's list included things like muting/unmuting and changing ringtones, which as far as I know I can't possibly do in Exchange Admin Center. Or can I?

Thank you!

How to Avoid Mail Loss During Mx Record and DNS update

$

Hi Friends,

I want to know that it is possible to avoid mail loss during MX Records and other DNS Records Because it takes 24 Hrs. to update.

Outlook OSX email ends-up in "Sent items" as not sent when Windows Outlook is open.

$

Hi

In our environment we're using a lot of MacBook Pro's running OSX. These OSX users use Outlook 2011 for Mac, Outlook 2015 for Mac (Office 365) and some use AirMail 2.1. Apart from their local e-mail client, they often also have an active Citrix session in which Windows Outlook 2013 is running.

We've noticed the following very strange behaviour:

- When OSX users send an e-mail from their local e-mail client AND the Citrix Windows Outlook is closed, e-mails will go out immediately.

- When OSX users send an e-mail from their local e-mail client AND the Citrix Windows Outlook is open, e-mails SEEM to go out of the local e-mail client, but when you look in the Citrix Windows Outlook, the e-mail is stuck in the "SENT" items and has an "draft" icon. It is NOT stuck in "Outbox", it is NOT in "Drafts" but in Sent items. On the local client, it shows as if it has been sent. See pictures attached. When the user then presses SEND in the Citrix Windows Outlook, the e-mail is finally sent.

In the attached image you see in the LOWER half how the e-mail looks like when it is sent from the OSX client. Just a normal e-mail and it looks to be sent. In the top half you see what the e-mail then looks like when I then see it in the Citrix Windows client. Notice the "draft" icon and the option to press "SEND". The e-mail is in the "Sent items" folder.

Distribution list owners

Can you set a user to be an owner of a group but not be included in the distribution group? We are using Office 365 and our IT department manages our Email groups, but don't want to get emails from every group we manage. Is it possible?

2007 -> 2013 coexistence issues

$

Hello Everyone,

I am currently in the process of setting up coexistence for exchange 2007 and 2013. My understanding is that all the internal URL's from 2007 must be configured to be the same in 2013 and then all the DNS records will be changed to point to the 2013 server. The problem I have run into is that all the internal URL's including the SCP use the 2007 server's name. I am not sure how to proceed, can I just use a new internal URL for the 2013 server and change the SCP? Will Autodiscover then just point my existing clients to the 2013 server? I don't think I can repoint the 2007 servers primary DNS record to the 2013 server without causing multiple issues. I tried to create a legacy dns and changed the 2007 server settings described in http://blogs.technet.com/b/meamcs/archive/2013/07/25/part-1-step-by-step-exchange-2007-to-2013-migration.aspx and I ran into all kinds of mail transport issues. We are also using a Barracuda spam firewall appliance and Cisco IronPort secure email.

Exchange 2007
IP address: 10.0.1.2
Server Computer Name: mlsrv.domain.local
Internal URL's : mlsrv.domain.local
External URL's (only setup for owa): mlsrv.domain.com

Exchange 2013
IP address: 10.0.1.3
Server Computer Name: EX13.domain.local
Internal URL's: ???
External URL's: ???

Thanks,
