I work for a school district and need to upgrade our exchange from 2007 to 2013. We bought a new server that has server 2012 on it and is ready to be fired up. My question is, can we do this upgrade and keep the same server name? One reason for doing so is that I have configured email accounts on our employees private phones and don't want to have to reconfigure them all again with the new server name. Please let me know if this is possible. Thanks a bunch.
I installed exchange 2013 with an existing exchange 2010 on domain.local, planning on migrating to 2013 and eventually eliminate exchange 2010.
I notice when I configure an outlook client on a pc on domain.local, for a user that has a mailbox on the exchange 2013, the proxy setting for exchange are automatically set (like outlook anywhere). That was new for me, usual with ex 2010, you don’t need “proxy
settings” for a domain.local outlook client, only for external once. I presumed it was an exchange 2013 thing.
But now a few months later a want to set outlook anywhere on the ex 2013 as well.
And now I have problems with the authentication method.

When I try to connect to a mailbox on ex2013 with outlook anywhere on no-domain computer, the autodiscover configure the proxy settings with Ntlm. The autoconfiguring makes no sense it should be Negotiate. I know in this link, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2754898 Microsoft explains that it’s “normal” to see the internal hostname when you using outlook anywhere on an outlook client that is not a your domain. But why it’s also taken the authentication method of the internal one?!?
Some (external - internally no problem) recipients not receiving email specifically from my account.
I have exchange 2003 (soon to be upgraded). I have Outlook 2007
I’m able to send and receive emails to most recipients with out issue.
However there are two recipients that cannot receive my email.
I cannot really find any settings server or client side that might be causing this issue.
Recipients claim that nothing is being filter or blocked on their side and that can receive email from other members in my domain.
Is there anything further I can check on my side to trouble shoot this issue.

Just did not have time to Google, may be someone may have a quick answer. I was asked if it possible to share calender with someone outside our Exchange organization. Someone in a different organization using Exchange or gmail/yahoo.
Making a change in our environment and adding a Hybrid server. We installed a new CAS and Transport but did not install the Mailbox Role. We installed an Exchange 2010 SP1 and upgraded to SP3 Rollup 8. We now need to add the mailbox roll to the hybrid server. The SP3 upgrade obviously doesn't allow us to install the mailbox role. Tried using the Exchange 2010 with SP1 and that does not seem to work. Presents with an error.
Anyone have any ideas on how to add this to role to our server.
When I run the Test-MRSHealth command I get an xml error "Expected MRS diagnostic xml element is missing." on the queue check. No issues on other Mailbox Servers, just one DAG member shows this error. I have restarted the Mailbox Replication Service. The problem persists. Had anyone seen this before. I have provided the output below

When I restore a mailbox from an archived pst file there is a second calendar that gets imported which should be the main one. I am restoring everything to the inbox..not a sub folder. Normally this would work but for whatever reason the calendar is not right.
I am using the following code. I can also used Calendar instead of Inbox but it will show a second calendar as well.
However when I try to import the pst file through import in Outlook I can see the second calendar in recovered files....

How do i make the second calendar the main one? I can only delete it.

We have Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2010 up and running in a Win2003 and Win2012 DC environment. Recently we promoted the Win2012 to be the PDC along with all the FSMO roles. We're trying to get rid of the Win2003 DC, so during the last patch cycle, I turned the Win2003 DC off. Exchange was still running fine along with emails going back and forth, however I would see some messages in the logs, MSExchangeADTopology - "No Minimal Required Number of Suitable Directory Servers Found in Forest ABC.local Site ABC and connected Sites". I ran DCDIAG and everything looked good. It complained about the Win2003 DC being off, but the PDC was working fine and it was connecting to it.
Today we had a slight network issue and I had to restart the Exchange server. It came back, but I saw lots of errors related to not being able to connect to DC along with the same problem of - "MSExchangeADTopology - No Minimal Required Number of Suitable Directory Servers Found in Forest ABC.local Site ABC and connected Sites" Unfortunately, Exchange services wouldn't start. So I started my Win2003 DC and voila, everything started working.
So I'm confused now as to what and how to fix this issue. The only thing I can think of being different is that my Win2012 PDC does not have WINS, while my Win2003 DC does have it. I thought WINS wasn't being used since Exchange 2007, but I may be wrong. Can someone please suggest as to what I can try to fix this issue? Do I have to demote my Win2003 DC to get this working, but if I do, then won't I have the same problem? Is there somewhere in Exchange that my Win2003 server is hardcoded maybe?

Is there any way to achieve this? I think the answer is no you can only set it at the monitor level and not the target resource however that doesn't help when the thresholds can vary across multiple volumes that show up under the monitor.

is there a possibility to automatically move older emails (7days+) to another folder (not archive mailbox).
There is a service account receiving couple emails everyday, and we wanna move older emails to another mailbox folder automatically (without Outook running).
I cant find a server-side rule which can be applied.
There is a little posibility to use EWSMail module within powershell. But, its script based, isnt supported, could cause problems when migrating to another version of Exchange.. and it also doesnt support custom folder "Inbox/Old" - only predefined default folders.

how can i check if anyone uses this Public Folder Database?
if no one uses it, i don,t migrate public folder database to new server.

and each step actually worked but when I tried to open the newly created pst it was empty (no email)
I just need inbox, deleted and sent items in the pst - not sure on the powershell command that would do this.

The option to allow unauthenticated users to send email us correctly set.

was not able to find to much documentation for this error. Most of what I found applied to a similar error with the PRX5 code at the end.

so simple question : should i put fqdn and netbios names of exchange 2013 in certificate ? in case not we can use exchange 2010 certificat :)
i have seen many companies doing that but i dont know why, especially when you use split DNS and internalurl = externalurl

I noticed some issues today while on VPN - getting "no info available" for some users in free/busy, and ews unavailable in Lync
Running test-outlookwebservices against the 2013 servers returns Autodiscover-OutlookProvider "The remote server returned an error (401 unauthorized). 2010 servers report no error when running this. Should add that all DNS currently points to the 2010 environment, I am simply using local host files on my machine pointed to the 2013 cas for testing (so mail, autodiscover all point to the 2013 environment on my machine)
the urls for autodisover are correct
the certificate includes the sans
permissions look correct on iis directory and autodiscover folder
I'm not sure where to look from here. Any ideas?

We have Exchange 2013 w/ CU8 and everything patched up from Windows update.
Recently our PCI scanner has required that TLS 1.0 not be used to pass compliance. So using Qualys IIS Crypto I used the PCI template and unchecked TLS 1.0. Restart the server. After restart I can get to OWA/ECP login screen just fine. It shows it is using
TLS 1.2. However if I login it I get a blank page.
If I try Outlook 2013 it will not load the profile. If I try to test the AutoConfiguration I get unable to determine settings.
If I go back recheck TLS 1.0 and reboot, everything works fine again.
There seems to be no errors in the event logs related to this. If I go into the HttpPrpxy log I see:
