Linked Mail Box - Cannot Access

Hello;

I have Exchange 2013 deployed in Resource forest and user account in Account forest with One way trust established - I am able to create the mail box & also able to send email to newly created mail box however I cannot connect to mailbox either by OWA or Outlook.

When launch OWA is says opening up mailbox >> "Still working on it........"

When launch Outlook from Account domain auto discovery fails >> Manual configuration brings up login dialog box which takes me no where & keep prompting.

I have conditional forwarder configured in Resource / Account forest and able to resolve Exchange server name with no issue.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

MailTips for Dynamic Distribution Lists - wrong number of recipients

We use Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2013. We have a Dynamic Distribution List (all@domain.com) configured on Exchange. It contains 75 users, I confirmed it using below cmdlets in Exchange management shell

$all = Get-DynamicDistributionGroup all@domain.com
Get-Recipient -RecipientPreviewFilter $all.recipientfilter

When I use Outlook to create a new email to all@domain.com there is a MailTip displayed mention about 87 of recipients, it should be 75 users. 

Settings on our Exchange servers are as below:

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-OrganizationConfig | fl *mailtip*
MailTipsAllTipsEnabled                : True
MailTipsExternalRecipientsTipsEnabled : False
MailTipsGroupMetricsEnabled           : True

Any idea how to troubleshoot it?

Public folders during Coexistence with Exchange 2007 and 2013

Hi I want test MAC Outlook 2016 and 2011 with Public folders.  Currently public folders reside in Ex2007.  I want to test a mailbox on Exchange 2013 via MAC and ensure it can access Public folders in Exchange 2013.  Is it possible for me to test this without migrating the Exchange 2007 public folders to Exchange 2013? Can I just create a public folder in Ex2013 without disrupting any users accessing their public folders in Exchange 2007?

Reinstalled Exchange on a new server. Error 500.

I am learning Exchange 2013/2016. Have 2016 installed at the moment.

The scenario: Installed exchange 2016, Manage to delete the Exchange01 server... Created a new machine, then I installed exchange again. 

Now I get Error 500 while trying to log in to ECP and OWA. 

Can I fix this without reinstalling DC and Exchange? :)

Edit:
After running: enable-mailbox -identity administrator

I manage to logon with the domain\administrator account, and the ECP misses settings like Create new mailboxes. My normal useraccount with administration permissions dont work.

DAG with Edge Transport

We have an exchange 2013 SP1 2 member DAG with an edge transport server. When i implemented the edge server, i subscribed to a member. So now, when that DAG member goes offline and the other DAG member keeps the active DB, obviously email stops. Should i have subscribed to the DAG object instead of a member server?

Databases failed over - event logs not expalining things

We have 2 Exchange 2013 mailbox servers running in an active active setup, 50% of the mail databases on each server.

this morning the databases on server 2 failed over to server 1, the event logs reported these errors

File share witness resource 'File Share Witness '(\\witness server\domain.com\DAG\domain.com)' failed to arbitrate for the file share '(\\witness server\domain.com\DAG\domain.com)'. Please ensure that file share '(\\witness server\domain.com\DAG\domain.com)' exists and is accessible by the cluster

The witness does not report any issues, the share it mentions exists, is online and the SAN has no errors recorded. Other errors are:

Cluster resource 'File Share Witness '(\\witness server\domain.com\DAG\domain.com)' of type 'File Share Witness' in clustered role 'Cluster Group' failed.

Based on the failure policies for the resource and role, the cluster service may try to bring the resource online on this node or move the group to another node of the cluster and then restart it.  Check the resource and group state using Failover Cluster Manager or the Get-ClusterResource Windows PowerShell cmdlet.

The cluster Resource Hosting Subsystem (RHS) process was terminated and will be restarted. This is typically associated with cluster health detection and recovery of a resource. Refer to the System event log to determine which resource and resource DLL is causing the issue

The initiator could not send an iSCSI PDU. Error status is given in the dump data.

Connection to the target was lost. The initiator will attempt to retry the connection.

and

The IO operation at logical block address 0x634ae8 for Disk 18 (PDO name: \Device\0000004a) was retried.

There are no errors on the SAN, none of the disks have failed, the witness has no problems and Exchange is reporting the passive copies of the databases are healthy, there is no CQL. I had the network guys analyze the network logs for the connections all the servers involved are on and the SAM, no entries to indicate issues, peak traffic was less than 1% of available bandwidth at the time of the issue.

Both Exchange servers and the witness are VMs (VMware), they are configured to always be on different hosts. There was no unusual traffic to or from the mail servers and the witness is only used for this and KMS so there is no huge overhead on this either.

Anybody seen this before or have any idea what could have caused it?

Event 107 Warning

I am constanting getting event id 107 with search indexing temporarily disabled on all mailbox database servers in DAG but do not have any directions in determining the cause.  CPU, Memory, Disk, and network appears to be healthy.  We also have enterprise vault.

cannot access ecp on mailbox role server 2013

i have one exchange server 2013 with CAS  and mailbox role installed. which can access ecp without problem.

now, i setup a new server only with mailbox role, but i find that i cannot access the local ecp and the exchange virtual directory port changed to 444 instead of 443 on the mailbox server.

i try https://mailboxserver:444/ecp

with display 400bad request 

do i need to add CAS on the server to make this work?

Exchange System Attendant Service not starting on Exchange 2007.

Hello,

System Attendant service is not starting on Exchange 2007 server(not in cluster) installed on windows 2008. Below is the error message in App logs.

Event ID 1005 :Unexpected error Access is denied. Facility: Win32 ID no: c0070005 Microsoft Exchange System Attendant  occurred.

Cannot select from address in OWA

Good evening,

I've create a new Exchange 2013 installation and now have it at the point where I can send/receive both internal and external mail.

I have an internal domain name where is different from my external domain name, so have added the appropriate email addresses to each user in EAC > Receipients > Mailboxes > double-click > Email Addresses. I have unchecked the 'automatically update email addresses based on the email address policy applied to this recipient' box, so that I can set the external email address name; when I send an email from that account it appears as the correct address... however...

I have one user which has multiple email addresses which they would send as. I have added all their addresses in the same way, however within OWA the from field only populates with the 'default' reply-to address. How do I get the list to allow all the reply-to email addresses please?

Exchange 2013 Management Tools on Windows 10

Hi,

Has anyone got the Exchange 2013 Management Tools installed and running on Windows 10?  Compatibility is not listed so I don't know if that is the answer or wasn't updated when 10 came out.  I see that Exchange 2016 tools are listed as being compatible with Windows 10, but don't know if it is a good idea to use these tools (mainly the shell) while managing Exchange 2013 servers.

"Your mailbox is almost full"

One of my users keeps getting this message even though his mail box is only about not quite half full.  He is using MS Outlook 365, we are using MS Exchange 2010.  I've read several similar complaints and have put him in non cached mode and his deleted items are empty and have been, but he keeps getting the message I am very open to suggestions.

quantity of read receipts

I have enabled the delivery report in Exchange 2010 is good, however I would like to "Count" the number of read receipts rather than seeing John Smith Read it, Julie Brown hasn't read it.


I want something like 774 Recipient, 770 Delivered, 542 Read 


Any idea via powershell , gui , ecp etc. The delivery report show up to 30 recipients,

This message was delivered to more than 30 recipients. Please search for a specific person to view their delivery report.

i just need to be able to count them (not manually!)

I Need to convert Exchange EDB to PST file

OST file of one of the users has got corrupt, due to which he is not able to access his mails. He has asked me to provide him a solution to get access to his mailbox back. Being an Exchange Admin, I can convert the exchange EDB to PST, which the user can import into his Outlook to get the mails back. I have tried to export PST file from Exchange 2013 with powershell script but something went wrong and PST could not be exported. So, I am in a search of any alternate solution to Export Exchange EDB to PST.

Please help as I need to provide the used with PST file asap.

Test environment: Autodiscovery

Good Day

I have just installed exchange 2013 in my home environment for testing/learning purpose, and I was wondering if I can get some assistance please. 

My domain name is: internal.layer10.com. FYI: netbios is set to layer10

I Have 3 severs which are: DC1, DC2 DC3-Exchange. DC1 is domain controller, DC2 is a SCCM 2012 server an DC3-Exchange is Exchange 2013 server.

I have an outlook 2013 installed on my physical computer and I am trying to connect to my exchange server. My computer is not connected to virtual domain however I did change my dns settings so it points to DC1. 

IP settings of my 3 servers are:

DC1 = 192.168.1.170

DC2= 192.168.1.175

DC3-Exchange = 192.168.1.180

Can someone please check my records or advise me what I've done wrong or what I should do? I've been researching and researching on internet and I can't find the answer. Or should I make a new zone as Layer10.com in DNS and configure my records this way?

How to do online defrag database to free up space in Exchange 2013

I'm using Exchange 2013. Found that after deleting mailboxes permanently, the database size still keeps the same. Is there a way to do online defrag database to shrink its size, without dismount the database?
