i would like to uninstall one role CAS SERVER ROLE  in one my exchnage server 2003 INEXNODE13 . but i getting below error with respect to MBX role

its not asking the check box of the roles which needs to be uninstall.

i would like to remove only one role from INEXNODE13. that is CAS ROLE  . i want to MBX server role on it.

We are planning to migrate to office 365 as we have more than 3 years old exchange servers. Currently, we are comparing against Google Mail which is quite popular too. We are currently on exchange server 2010 SP1 and we have DAG connecting to different countries via VPN tunnel.

May I know what will be the advantages and disadvantages of both of these email services as we need to actually persuade the top management of which one to go to. I myself as the IT Engineer would prefer to Office 365 as we have been using Microsoft products for quite some time. I heard that google is much cheaper, which is why become one of the alternative chosen by the top management in term of cost cutting.

Is it possible to do the following in Exchange 2010 SP3 roll up 10?

Create an Exchange server side rule that will scan an email header from a certain originating IP address and prevent it from leaving the exchange organization, i.e. going to an outside email domain?

Also, this exchange environment sits behind a netscaler, so when a message is processed the originating IP is changed to the IP of the net scaler. In a case where a NLB is not used, does the originating IP in the header line up with the IP address of the client PC that the email was sent from?

We currently have exchange 2010 servers and plan is to go to 2013.   I am deploying exchange 2013 servers however we want to test exchange 2013 using test accounts and DIFFERENT URLs (For example for OWA, activesync).

Is it possible to do so?  Will it break anything if the 2013 OWA/ECP/ACTIVESYNC URLs do not match the ones in 2010 environment?

Hello.  My organisation has one forest containing two domains. The two domains correspond to two different geographical locations.

In the domain I manage, I have two Exchange 2013 CU7 Standard servers in a DAG.  Both servers have both the CAS and Mailbox roles installed.  The servers are running Server 2012 Standard.  The two servers are on different subnets. One server, which is usually our active mailbox server, is at our primary data centre. The other server is at a standby data centre.  The two sites are separated by a WAN link. 

The other domain in the forest has one Exchange 2007 server, as well as two Exchange 2013 CU7 servers in a DAG.

In the domain that I manage, our users run Outlook 2010 Standard on Windows 7 Professional. I have one user who is presented with a  “MailTips could not be retrieved” message in Outlook. The user does see MailTips through OWA.  The same behaviour is observed when the user logs on through a different PC on the domain.

The user’s MailTip settings in Outlook are the same as those for users who are not experiencing the issue. The user also has the same LAN and proxy server settings, in Internet Explorer, as other users who are not experiencing the issue. The user can set her Out of Office message.  The user does not have any different add-ins than users who are not experiencing the issue.

Removing and re-installing MS Office 2010 has not resolved the issue. If you have any insights into how to resolve this issue, please share them with me.  Thanks.

Background: We were re-balancing our Exchange Databases, and performing a migration to new Databases on Exchange 2013. All of the Migrations, except for one completed fine, one completed with errors.

Issue: One Mailbox in the the Migration Batch that completed with errors is reporting the following error:

"Error:MigrationPermanentException: Error: Cannot read named property data with key = ‎'null‎'"

I have tried to remove the mailbox from the Migration Batch, but get the following error:

"The user user@email.com couldn't be removed from the migration batch "MBXDB7" in its current state. Please stop the batch and then try to remove the user"

I have tried to stop the migration batch, but get "The Migration Batch can't be stopped in its current state.

Before moving forward, I attempted to take a backup PST file of the user's mailbox, and that export to PST failed.

I have opened the Migration Report for the user, and here is what is inside:

Exchange 2013 CU5

Every 1-3 minutes I have about 7 Eventlog entries with event id 16028, sources MsExchangeTransport, MSExchangeFrontEndTransport, MSExchangeTransportSubmission and MSExchangeTransportDelivery.

"A forced configuration update for Microsoft.Exchange.Transport..... has successfully completed.

I found a post that this should be solved with CU5. I installed CU5 this Weekend, but I still have the same behavior.

Any suggestions how to stop these information events?

Just started with an Organisation who have several battle with their 2010/2013 coexisting on premises implementation. They suggested that perhaps they should rebuild the Exchange 2013 servers (4 of them in a DAG across two data centers) and address several original implementation problems errors in that process.

Is this possible? Is it wise?

I'd prefer to address the issues. Fix the authentication types, make the virtual directories consistent , add another drive to each server and get the logging (not db) off C Drive. What makes this complex is the F5's as load balancers. They've had a custom F5 implementation of forms based authentication- it works and I don't want to break it :)

I copied my Administrator user because i need to disable this user. When i login to EMC with my new user everything works fine, but if i go  to mobile devices the edit button is missing. If i login with the Administrator user the edit is appear. (Sorry my exchange is hungarian)

I am in a complex exchange 2010 environment and exchange 2013 servers have just been installed.

When the arbitration mailboxes should get moved from 2010 to 2013?

A. Before?

B. During traffic cutover?

C. After cutover?

I saw the following but I don't know if anything else will stop working " If you don't move the arbitration mailbox, Exchange 2013 cmdlets that are run won't be logged in the administrator audit log and eDiscovery searches run on Exchange 2013 servers will be queued but won't start"
