Since changing to MAPI cant expand online archive

Good Evening all,

We recently had some connectivity issues with clients sporadically disconnecting, it was decided that we would switch to MAPI instead of RPC/HTTP.

I have moved a handful of people over to MAPI but now they are unable to expand their oniine archive due to the below error message:

Cannot expand the folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log on to Microsoft Exchange failed

The users left on RPC are working as usual and can expand their folders, if the MAPI users login to OWA, they expand their archives without issue.

I have office 2013 SP1 x64 installed and we are running on the latest Exchange 2013 CU.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Problem with EXPUNGE command using IMAP - Exchange 2013 Server CU10

Hello,

When I try to execute the command EXPUNGE after make some messages flagged with Deleted, the Expunge fails:

[11:30:18.94] [SEND] MBN00000016 EXPUNGE\r\n

[11:30:19.22] [RECV] MBN00000016 NO EXPUNGE failed.\r\n [Total 32 bytes received.]

But, if I look in the UID that I flag with Deleted don't have the 13873 UID. I guess that it's bug in the Exchange 2013.

Bellow the entire log.

EDB convert to PST file issue

$

Hi,

I know that there is no freeware tools to convert EDB file to PST file, but I just need to convert only one email account and I don't want to purchase a tool for just one time for one email account only, is it possible to setup an Exchange Server and load the previous EDB file? Thanks.

The previous EDB file from Exchange Server 2010.

I Need to convert Exchange EDB to PST file

OST file of one of the users has got corrupt, due to which he is not able to access his mails. He has asked me to provide him a solution to get access to his mailbox back. Being an Exchange Admin, I can convert the exchange EDB to PST, which the user can import into his Outlook to get the mails back. I have tried to export PST file from Exchange 2013 with powershell script but something went wrong and PST could not be exported. So, I am in a search of any alternate solution to Export Exchange EDB to PST.

Please help as I need to provide the used with PST file asap.

Problem with SMTP Banner and TLS Support on 2013 Edge servers

$

Hi,

We have 2x 2013 Edge servers in our DMZ. I used MXToolbox.com to run a test and it came back telling me that my SMTP Banner did not match my reverse DNS. I went on and changed this in powershell, this fixed that issue but the issue then was that it told me that the Edge servers were not advertising TLS (no 250-STARTTLS). I have since changed it back to the original configuration.

I see the certificate installed on the servers are just self signed so when I changed the FQDN banner, I assume this meant it did not match the certificate and thus did not advertise TLS?

My question is. Is it a problem if I have my edge servers SMTP banner for incoming connections being the FQDN edgeserver1.domain.local instead of the reverse DNS address of smtp01.domain.com?

Finally, if i wanted to change the banner and still use opportunistic TLS, I assume I would have to install a trusted 3rd party certificate, correct?

Thanks for reading.

KB3058609 fails again with CU12? (suppossed to be fixed in CU10)

$

We have found a problem similar than the problem described here

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3058609

A user has in their Outlook or OWA contact list an entry named for example 'personal' which correspond with an external SMTP address. In the system also exist a Distribution List (dynamic in this case but the problem appears also with static one) named 'personal' too.

When this user sets an inbox rule which apply to all arriving messages and sets the action 'Redirect the messages to' and choose from their contact list 'personal' as destination, Exchange set the mailbox RedirectTo parameter referenced to the DL and not to the contact's SMTP address.

Our system is Exchange 2013 CU12 in muti tenant scenery

We think that is a bug, very similar to the bug described in KB3058609 which claims to be solved in CU10

Anyone knows a solution for it? How can we report it to Microsoft? Is there a published workaround or patch?

It is a very grave problem which affects to our customers, sending messages to wrong directions between different customer's organizations.

Thanks in advance for your helping responses.

(and sorry my english)

remove or disable email & mailbox but NOT account??

$

We have 6-7 users in a Win2k12 RDS environment who don't really need Exchange mailboxes.

We want to remove or disable their email accounts and mailboxes but *not* remove or disable the login accounts.

E.g. user jdoe has a network login and an email account, we want user jdoe to *only* have a network login and no email or mailbox.

How do I do this?? Maybe something special in PowerShell??

Thank you, Tom

noderuner.exe also taking a lot of CPU. WhichI know is the indexing.

If I run the following command I get lots of backlog (althought the figures seem to go up and down).

get-mailboxdatabasecopystatus -server servername | select name, *contentindexback*, contentindexretry*

Also, the content index state seems to be flipping from healthy to failed and back again.

get-mailboxdatabasecopystatus * | ft auto

Tried rebuilding in the past but no joy. Its ok for a while and then does the same thing.

Any ideas?

Adding the Domain Users group to a Distribution Group does not work anymore.

$

Every business needs a Distribution group that can be used for business-wide notifications.  This means that the group must contain all domain users, all the time.

The simplest solution, which I have used for years, is to add Domain Users to the business-wide distribution group.  This nested approach automatically adds a new domain users to the business-wide distribution group.

I just found out that this does not work on Exchange 2013.  It would not send to Domain Users.  I had to add each user manually to the distribution list.

How can I have new domain users automatically added to a distribution group in Exchange 2013?

Where do I start to look to see how/why this happened?

Customize incident report on flow rule detected

Hi, on Exchange 2013 I'd like to set a mail flow rule with "send incident report" action, using the GUI.

It seems I cannot set a distribution group as recipient, neither include more than a recipient. Furthermore, I cannot insert another identical action (send incident report) so it seems I am bound to have only one single mailbox as recipient of the incident report. I'd like to have more than one (single or group), is it possible in another way?
