Something went wrong message on owa with no details

We are running exchange 2013 (unpatched version) on windows 2012 r2 (all service pack installed). The web mail (owa) homepage shows the "Something went wrong" screen with no details available.

We tried to attempt to address this by installing CU12 update. The setup run to the stage of Mailbox role: Transport Service. It failed with an error indicating the certificate has expired. However at this point I cannot access EAC because the website cannot be accessed. I don't know the location of the certificate file, or if there is a free way to renew it. So now our whole email / exchange system is down.

Anyone has any clue how to address this situation?

  2. we have X2.in and X3.in domain at (Gmail account) and few users are in these two domain.

Few users are in all three domains. X2 and X3.in are present in Google domain.

Every time they should try to open different Mail ID’s to check the mails.

Now I want those users, who are all having mails ID’s in 3domains, need to remove from X1 domain mail ID alone, but they should receive mails like announcement, alert mails and other common mails from X1 domain, room booking calendar sharing etc.

All the way three domain address book also to be accessible.

All three domains are sitting in single roof and internally attached.

Kindly help to configure such setup in our exchange.

If two forest and  use forest trust the AD account can own one mailbox only right?

I have client say they can setup two exchange servers and the user can assign into two different exchange server.

I didn't have forest the domain information so i don't know how they can achieve it.

Thanks.

Delete Read Emails after 20 Days

We have a requirement to delete emails from specific mailboxes on Exchange server after fulfilling the following two conditions:

1 - Emails must be 20 days old

2 -  Emails must be read

Condition 1 is straight forward to accomplish - by using the Retention Policies. I am fairy a newbie to Exchange and cannot find anything obvious on how to achieve condition 2.

I have tried the "search-mailbox" cmdlet but haven't gone far with it.

Any help?

Question reguarding Mass newsletter subscriptions and how to prevent it

$

We have a client and they have one particular email address that is being mass subscribed to mailing lists/newsletters.  This morning is the second morning in a row where the user has received 200+ confirmation emails, thank you for subscribing emails....etc

We have a spam filter service, but these are all legit emails so I don't think blocking them is a good idea (I believe this will cause ongoing issues for everyone else in the organization) with the filter we cannot set specific settings for specific email addresses.

I assume there is either a human signing the user up or there are some 'hacker tools' out there that would allow for such an attack.  How can organizations protect their users/environments from such an attack.  I would imagine any public figure (politicians/actors) or business could easily have such an attacked done to them. Luckily a lot of these news letters are asking for email verification, so I suspect the ongoing emails will far less then I first suspected.

Anyone have any ideas on how to stop this and how to deal with the mass subscriptions that will be an ongoing issue?

How to enable connectivity logs on Exchange 2013 EDGE server

Hello guys,

I'm in need of your assistance. I'm not very good with Exchange and I need to fix some things.

I'm not sure what is wrong but I don't have connectivity logs on my Exchange 2013 EDGE server. Newest log is from 19.10.2015. and location is C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\Logs\Edge\Connectivity.

I think, it stopped logging when I turned on protocol logging on my Exchange Mailbox server.

My problem is, that I can't find logs that are produced when someone is connecting to my MX by telnet and trying to send a message. We were testing some thing and we had a situation, when we connected by telnet, provided all necessary info and started writing a message, suddenly connection was lost. I need to find log of that so I can check what is a problem.

Here is what we did by telnet:

Exch2013 generating invalid CSR

Hello all. As the title says - our Exchange 2013 server is generating invalid CSRs. We just had to renew our SSL, and in the process found that the CSR generated by Exchange is missing all the Organisation info, and when pasted into "CSR Checker" type websites it shows the common name and subject alternative names, but no other information.  Fortunately we still have the CSR from when we first bought the certificate a year ago (and no information has changed since then), so we were able to renew the SSL using that. However the fact that we are apparently unable to generate a valid CSR is worrying, and this is an area I know little about - how can I resolve this? The original CSR was generated on the same mail server in exactly the same way, so I'm not entirely sure what's gone wrong here.

Tool for Email alias Creation?

$

Hello Cool People,

I was wondering if there is an automated way to create an email alias for a mailbox in Exchange 2013? So we have this mailbox used by a group of people and they keep on requesting for additional email alias for this mailbox.  Lets say I have MailboxXYZ@company.com and here comes user1 requesting to add ABC@company.com, a few minutes later here comes user2 requesting to add 123@company.com and 456@company.com. So we  go to ECP and add this alias to MailboxXYZ@company.com.

What we are trying to do (if possible) is to give these users a simple script or a tool to just input the email alias they want to add to MailboxXYZ@company.com and give a message whether the alias was successfully added to the mailbox or if the alias they are trying to add is already existing  on the long list of alias on that mailbox.

I should also mention that the user  has only full access to the MailboxXYZ@company.com.  I was thinking of PS but haven't really touch  PS yet.  I hope someone can shed some light on this.

Thanks in Advance.

Duplicate read receipts for meeting requests

$

Hi,

Has anyone had this problem before? A user in our environment has reported this and I have been able to replicate the behaviour. She assures me this never used to happen...

The problem occures when, within Outlook, a user has the settings set to request read receipts for all outgoing email. If this is set and this user sends a meeting request, they will receive a read receipt when the recipient reads it but also receive another read receipt if/when the recipient accepts the meeting request.

We have a hybrid environment and I have verified this issue between x2 Exchange 2013 mailboxes and also between x1 Exchange 2013 mailbox and x1 Exchange Online mailbox.

Has anyone had this behaviour before? Any ideas?

Thanks

Hybrid Only Environment - Shared Calendar / Contact permissions - Best Practices?

$

Hello all --

I am wondering if anyone can share some best practices with regards to assigning permissions to mailbox folders within a shared mailbox.

Obviously, I don't want to do this based on users - but I am curious on best practices. Similar to NTFS permissions with the ADGLP pattern.  Does something exist for these mailbox folders?  Because I am all hybrid, do I need to use Universal groups?

What have you done in your organization that has worked well?

Thanks in advance,

sb

L.S.

Hybrid exchange - trying to move users over getting an error.

Information :

User has 2 mailboxes

Tom.Test@companya.com
Tom.Test@companyb.com

1 Office 365 Tenant
Both domains added to the Tenant

But when we try to migrate the user, we get the error that they ( 2 accounts ) can't both have tom.test@tenantname.onmicrosoft.com.

How can this be solved?

Thank you.

Hi i hope someone can help me.

i have at least one user that are losing mails from the inbox, the mails are not in deleted or recoverable items ?

When the update failed to install, i did this to fix the server

Disable-Mailbox "DiscoverySearchMailbox {D919BA05-46A6-415f-80AD-7E09334BB852}"

deleted the user from AD

then i installed the cu 12 update this time it worked.

then a setup /PrepareAD and

Enable-Mailbox "DiscoverySearchMailbox {D919BA05-46A6-415f-80AD-7E09334BB852}" -Discovery

(i am not sure about the -Discovery was the right thing to do ?)

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups

I have a server set up at home with Small Business Server on it. I believe my version of exchange is 2010. The version # is:14.3.224.4002. There wasn't a forum for this version, so I posted it under Exchange 2013, the closest thing.

My e-mail comes and goes through a Google Apps account. A friend helped me set it up, and he did it this way for reliability. That way, if my server had issues, the e-mails would land just fine on the Google server while I got my Exchange Server back up and running.

The other day, I had some major spam issues (someone was impersonating me--apparently, they had hijacked my Gmail account. Anyway, I had to do a bunch of stuff on that account to get reset and hopefully get the hackers out. It seems like my problems began at around that time. Now I am receiving e-mail through that account onto my Exchange server, but I'm not able to send. MOE is my server name and birdus.com is my domain.

Every message I send bounces back eventually with this:

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:

bleauxheron@gmail.com (bleauxheron@gmail.com) The server has tried to deliver this message, without success, and has stopped trying. Please try sending this message again. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk.
