Exchange 2013 - Powering off old mailbox servers caused 100% cpu on CAS servers :-(

We recently build new mailbox servers on newer hardware and added them to the DAG. Databases were moved off the old servers, connectors copied etc, connectors disabled on the old servers.

Today we planned to power these servers off for 7 days. Was a bit of a disaster - both our CAS servers went to 100%. Slowly recovering now because we powered back on.

I must admit I thought they were dead. Or would they still have been processing client requests? Whats the best way to decomm these servers? Or should I have removed from DAG?

Hello. Early, When users sent attachments from Windows Explorer and used the Send to > Mail Recipient command, the message body was filled in with  "Your message is ready to be sent with the following file or link attachments:"

Now, after update, users have unrecogcnizes simbols "Qnnayemhe cnrnbn j nrop`bje qn qkeds~yhl bknfemm{l t`iknl hkh qq{kjni:" 

What is wrong with outlook (only users with 2010 have) and Exchange 2013?

How to receive daily calendar schedule from via email

How to setup automated email notifications to receive  daily agenda or scheduled meeting detail in calendar ?

There is a option in OWA but it only sent as text to mobile number but not via Email .My requirement is to sent by email for group of user of for all user .

If someone already doing it can share Poweshell Script  or third party utility?

If would like to change all my current email domain from @123.com to @ABC.com. 

How should i proceed? 

I know at the moment, i have to add a accepted domain and change mailbox SMTP address.

Will certificate be affected and what else will be affected? thank you

Error when attepmting to Mail-Enable Exchange 2013 Public Folder

Hello,

We are seeing an error when attempting to mail enable a recently created public folder via the EAC:

"an error caused a change in the current set of domain controllers"

If we wait a few minutes, re-fresh the page and try again it is successful.  I have my public folder mailbox databases on a separate server from my user mailbox database.

I have seen this error in before on Exchange 2010 when in the console, but this is firsft for me on Exchange 2013.

I am running Exchange 2013 CU13 in my environment.

Search-Mailbox - Don't search attachments

It appears that search-mailbox searches the entire message including the contents of attachments

Is it possible to exclude the searching of attachments/attachment content when performing "search-mailbox"?

Certificate Error And internal mail not delivered.

Hi,

I am having a problem with recently installed Exchange server 2013 SP1. My client was moving from a SBS 2008 server with Exchange 2007.   Mailboxes were saved out to PST then imported into exchange 2013. Only 7 users. Names have been changed to protect the innocent.

Local Domain  DEDOM

External Mail domain  mail.deservices.com

Domain control Server  DEESSERVER

Email Server  DEEMAIL

4 Client Workstations running Office/Outlook 2007/2010 Patched to Exchange 2013 SP 1 Requirements  Called Group A

3 Clients Workstations Running Office/Outlook 2013/2016  Called Group B

Forward DNS record added at DC to point to DEEMAIL @ 192.168.1.19  boxes address.

We had a SSL certificate with Godaddy for remote.deservices.com. It has been rekeyed as mail.deservices.com with no .locals since they are not allowed.

Here's The Problems.

Group B gets certificate errors the name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site. DEEMAIL.DEDOM.local sometimes.

Group A gets certificate errors the name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site. DEEMAIL.DEDOM.local all the time. They also can not send email to internal users most of the time.  Error points to Generating server as DEEMAIL.DEDOM.local .

External works fine.

Any Ideas?

Exchange 2013 Database System Mailbox Deleted

Long story short, all system mailbox accounts were deleted.

I recreated the typical system mailbox accounts with the setup.exe /PrepareAD.

Problem is, the system mailboxes that are unique to the Database are also gone and need recreated. These system accounts are NOT recreated when rerunning the setup etc.

All mail flow outbound to other databases or email accounts outside of the organization have stopped. All inbound email is still working.

How do I recreate these accounts?

The Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication service was unable to process jobs in a mailbox database.
Database: ******
Error: Couldn't find system mailbox '49420906-3123-4a3e-bf1e-b9f3f607801a' in Active Directory.

I have three databases missing their accounts.

P.S. Side note. Bombarded with these errors. Not sure if its related.

A fatal alert was received from the remote endpoint. The TLS protocol defined fatal alert code is 46.

The recipient is the mailbox itself.

I read in another post that a user was unable to install Exchange 2013 on a Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview installation. Is Exchange Server 2013 going to be supported on Windows Server 2016?

Schannel NULL SID logon failure (Event 4625)

Environment is 2x Exchange 2013 CU13 in two offices, multiple physical & virtual (Citrix) Server 2k8 & 2k12 R2 (domain op level is 2k8).  This is *NOT* a stored credentials issue, and "just ignore it" isn't an option for a failure that's occurring multiple times an hour. 

On either Exchange server, we're seeing multiple NULL SID (Event ID 4625) logon failures, Logon type 3, Status 0xC000006D, sub status 0x80090325.  Workstation, net address, & source port are blank; account name & domain are blank.

This is *not* a stored credentials issue.  Removing the server(s) from the domain & re-adding is not an option.  No scheduled tasks on the Exchange Server I examined that could be causing the issue.  The Exchange servers are physical machines, not virtuals.

Suggestions?  Thanks!

Exchange Server 2013 Site Resiliency Testing

Hello All...........I have a few questions with regards to site resiliency failover and failback.

Setup:

Sites and Servers:  I have two-2 sites (A and B) with three-3 servers on each site which include 2 MBX and CAS and 1 just MBX.

DAG:  There are two-2 DAGs each containing three-3 servers.  Two-2 servers that are MBX and CAS on each site have the third partner from the other site that is just holding the MBX role.

Internet Facing:  Site A is internet facing.  All e-mail is sent and received from this site.  There is no connectivity from Site B to the outside world.  It relay or gets relayed everything to and fro through Site A.

Routing and Access:  At Site A, there is a Load Balancer in place for CAS load balancing which only includes CAS servers of Site A.  E-mail is sent from these CAS servers to the outside world.  For Web Access (OWA, etc.), TMG is being used for external users.  Internal users directly access Load Balancer to get service.


Question:  I want to test site failure that is from Site B to Site A.  As there is little dependency on internet routing and access, I believe there is only DAG part to worry about.  Kindly, confirm if I have the correct understanding.  I want to mimic the failure at Site B and serve all the clients from Site A.  How can I achieve this goal.

How to export dismounted EDB to PST?

For some reason, I need to view my Exchange database in Outlook so I have to convert my EDB file to PST. There is one problem Exchange server is not installed on the system. Is there any way which can help me out in converting dismounted EDB file to PST?
Any help will be appreciable.

Active sync issue

Hello

We have 2 Exchange 2013 CU7 servers.

Sometime I get an error message on phones that says it cannot log in.

I can see from event log that

[Eas] The number of outstanding requests for guard TargetBackend("exch01.top.domain.no") has exceeded the max limit 150. Current request will be rejected.

Anyone know what limit its refering to? And should it be set higher?

error when addind 'reset password' role to management

when i want to add role of 'reset password' to 'organizational management' it shows error below:

You can't change the management scope on the "Role Management-Organization Management" management role assignment. This is because the role assignment is the last delegating role assignment to the "Role Management" management role. Changing the scope on this role assignment could prevent you from managing the "Role Management" role.

any idea why is that?

about deletions

hello everyone

i have some misunderstanding toward deletion rules of exchange, i hope some one can clear me out

we have a mailbox, who has 1 recoverable item in "Folder" menu of office like this pucture:

but when i search using cmdlets, it shows me there are 7 deletions. see this picture:

hows that possible?

if i remember well, when we remove items from default folders like 'inbox' they go to 'deleted items'. after that they will go to 'recoverable items' or dumpster. so here, in both pictures should be 7 deletions. am i right?

How to handle PF mailbox limitations

Hi there.

Exchange 2013 environment with CU14 installed.

We are using Public folders. The public folder mailbox is reaching the limit of 100 GB size:

How do you handle this kind of situation?

I guess you create another public folder mailbox and the old one 95 GB is only for "archive access".

What's the difference with primary and secondary PF mailbox on hiearhy levels, access levels?), but what do you do with mail enabled public folders on 1st PF mailbox?
You disable all of them and then enable them in newly created PF mailbox 2 ?

What if you have 300+ mail enabled public folders in current PF mailbox, that's a lot of manual process (disabling/enabling mail enabled folders)?

Renewing the Certificate - CA issued Certificate

We have 2 Exchange Server 2013 in DAG...The Certificate is about to Expire, just want to know the best and quick method in RENEWING the Certificate and how to export it in our clients Users. The Certificate is CA-issued certificate .
