Outlook Calendar Question

$
0
0

Good morning,

I seem to be having an interesting hiccup in my Outlook 2016 Calendar; when another person is trying to reserve a room Outlook is saying that room is booked to me, but I do not see the reservation on my calendar. For example: Another user was trying to reserve the Room on the day that Aug 13th (Monday) from 8:45am-9:00am and the reservation request is declined as it says I have the room reserved. I did previously have the room reserved but I deleted the reservation and do not see it on my calendar anymore.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unable to Convert On-Prem Public Folders to EXO Shared Mailboxes

$

I had a need to "convert" some on-premise mail-enabled public folders to shared mailboxes in EXO.  I've run into a weird issue.

Here is what I've been doing. . . and it worked for 3 test cases.

1) Mail-disable on prem public folder
2) Create on-prem shared mailbox with same smtp address previously used on PF
3) I had to delete the msoluer because of validation errors (recipient type was still PF in the AzureAD)
4) Verified delta sync was successful, AAD and onprem objects agree on recipient-type
5) Migrated new shared mailbox to EXO
6) Drink a beer because it worked flawlessly.

Since this initial testing, we decommissioned our on prem ADFS, switching from federated to managed.  We also upgrade ADConnect.

Now this is what happens:

1) Mail-disable on prem public folder
2) Create on-prem shared mailbox with same smtp address previously used on PF
3) Delete msoluser because of errors
4) Delta sync restores msoluser with same error:  {Microsoft.Online.Administration.ValidationError}
5) Stuck

We are sync'ing "mail-enabled" attributes for public folders, but it won't release the smtp addresses after we mail-disable the PF.

Any thoughts on how we can remove the offending object?

Exchange Server 2010 - Calendar Reminder Not Showing Up

$

I didn't see an exchange 2010 option under forum so I am writing it under Exchange Server 2013. Our live environment is running Office 2010 on exchange server 2010. We migrated some users to Outlook 2016 and moved them to the newer server. We had to move the users back to exchange 2010. We are able to get emails to be distributed but calendar reminders aren't showing up. I've checked the registry settings and outlook options as well. I've reinstalled Outlook several times and even tried launching outlook in clean mode. Any suggestions on where else I can look?

Remote Connectivity Analyzer verification challenge always fails

$

I am trying to debug some connectivity issues related to accessing some on-prem mailboxes as well as some mailboxes that are being moved to Office 365.

I wanted to use the Remote Connectivity Analyzer but over the last couple of days I have been unable to get past the verification step so that I can actually run the tests.  I have tried using Edge, IE11 and Chrome on Windows 10, and Windows Server 2012R2. I have had people looking over my shoulder as I type in the verification code to be sure I am putting in the correct code and I keep getting the following message:

"testconnectivity.microsoft.com says: Verifying the challenge failed. Please refresh the page and try again"

The page specifically says that the code is NOT case-sensitive but I have tried it both ways and still get the error.

Anyone run into this?  Work arounds?  Any thought would be a help,

Thanks in advance,

Mike Askwith

Pros and cons of clearing the logs

I came across this following link, which actually clears the logs:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/31117.exchange-2013-logging-clear-out-the-log-files.aspx

Would like to know the pros and cons by performing the same?

An early response to this would be appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Hybrid Upgrade

$

0
Currently have 2010 Hybrid.
All mailboxes moved.
MX still pointing to On-Prem.
Autodiscover pointing to On-Prem.

Exchange 2010 is only used as Mgmt Console for O365, and SMTP relay.

I wish to upgrade to 2013:

  • 1. Install 2013
  • 2. Change SCP to use old SCP
  • 3. Change virtual directories
  • 4. Change SMTP devices
  • 5. Uninstall 2010
  • 6. Run HCW

Questions:
  1. Autodiscover should remain pointing to on-premises so no issues there. I already should've repointed MX to
Office 365 as all mailboxes were moved prior to needing to upgrade the Hybrid Server but didn't have time to test.
Should I still repoint MX in advance of the 2013 upgrade, or wait until the end?
  2. Is it right to run HCW on 2013 AFTER uninstall of 2010?
  3. Do I need to run HCW or can I just use 2013 EAC to manage remote domain in O365? i.e. is hybrid necessary with no more migrations needed?

AttachmentTableTotalSize Increasing in Size for Journaling Mailbox Account

$

I've come across a weird instance where the journaling account we use to archive our email offsite has ballooned up the database but when you look at the mailbox statistics the mailbox size is normal but the AttachmentTableTotalSize is gigantic.  We have the mailbox policy set to purge Deleted Items every day but it doesn't seem to be clearing out attachments somehow.  I've tried googling what exactly the AttachmentTableTotalSize is but the results seem pretty limited.  Currently the only way I have been able to purge the mailbox is to migrate it do a different database and then migrate it back.  I'm running Exchange 2013 CU 20 and we first noticed the behavior back in CU 19.  I'm wondering if anyone else has come across this and has a better solution than just migrating the mailbox back and forth between databases.

Office 365 Exchange encryption

hi,

Can anyone explain how to verify encryption on email environment? We are running on Hybrid/O365 (have internal exchange mail server + office 365 cloud service). When I ctrl+right click on outlook icon and go to Connection status I can see SSL under encryption. When I check encryption cert public key is RSA 2048 for Office 365. Does it mean we use SSL (internal) + TLS (office 365) ?

Microsoft Exchange Server Auth Certififcate Concern

Hello,

I recently renewed our Mircrosoft Exchange Server Auth Certificate since it was about to expire.  I just noticed that I am getting a warning on the exchange server event log ID 2008 and 2004

Event ID 2004:

Unable to find the certificate with thumbprint "OLDMicrosoftExchangeServeAuthCertificateThumbprint" in the computer of the certificate is missing private key. The certificate is needed to sign the outgoing token

Event ID 2008:

When Retrieving metadata from the url "https://lyncserverfqdn/metadata/json/1; different certificates have been found

I already publish the new cert and can see the current certificate thumbprint as well as the previous certificate thumbprint  when running Get-Authconfig

Any thoughts what are the impact of this warnings and possible fix for this?

Thanks,
