Exchange Room Booking question

Hi,

We have just moved to using Exchange / Outlook for room booking. This is all setup and working fine, but we have a question.

Best practice is that if a meeting should be changed, it must be done by the organiser.

But, what if the organiser is not about and we need to remove their room booking - how is the best way to handle that?

Obviously as an admin we can delete the room booking directly from within the calendar... but will that cause issues for the meeting invites / attendees?

Any ideas?

In Exchange 2013 when a mailbox is assigned the Global Throttling Policy the Throttling Policy field is blank. How can I run a powershell report listing mailboxes that have the Global default policy assigned?

Problems opening shared mailbox in Outlook 2016, exchange 2013

We have setup 2 shared mailboxes accessible by two users. Full access and send as permissions have been granted.

One user can see every shared mailbox and has access to them when he is logged on within the domain with one laptop. On his other laptops (no part of domain), the mailboxes are not shown. If added manually in the Outlook account settings the folder appears but can't be opened and gets the message ost file in use. User 2 has the same problem. Everything works well in OWA. There are no connection issues. Having a VPN connection does not make a difference. Furthermore after starting Outlook you are asked to to log in 4 times for one of the shared mailboxes, remember references does not work.

All laptops have office 2016 and Windows 10 enterprise. Please advice on a solution, all software is updated (server 2012, exchange 2013, office 2016, windows 10).

Hi everyone!

For start, here is my infrastructure:

1 HAProxy which proxy POP, IMAP, HTTPS connections to CAS.

3 CAS - 2013 CU21 (CAS1.HQ.PHARM.COM, CAS2.HQ.PHARM.COM, MAIL4.HQ.PHARM.COM)

2 MBX - 2013 CU21 (MBOX1.HQ.PHARM.COM, MBOX3.HQ.PHARM.COM)

Few days ago i've noticed that our CAS servers got many errors with code 46. After some surfing, i found that it could be caused by incorrect TLS certificate settings. So i've checked everything at least twice:

1) All servers have wildcard cert installed with name *.pharm.com.

2) Cert assigned to IIS, SMTP, POP and IMAP services on all CAS servers.

3) Cert assigned to "Default Frontend" and "Client Frontend" connectors for all CAS servers with set-receiveconnector command.

Mails are going fine, and we dont have any problems with authorization. I'm running out of ideas about what this errors could be caused by, only guesses:

1) Сould this be due to the fact that the name of main certificate is *.pharm.com, and name of servers *.hq.pharm.com?

2) May this be caused to incorrect settings in Default Frontend and Client Frontend receive connectors?

3) Can this issue be related to mbx?

Event ID 74 and 12014

Hi,

I notice the event ID 74 and 12014 on both the mailbox servers but there is no impact on the services so far.

How can i fix this?

I did restart Microsoft Exchange Transport and Microsoft Exchange Frontend Transport but getting the same errors, i did restart exchange server, but the same. Im running this command daily and all services are success.

What else i can do to fix this issue.

the security certificate is not from a trusted CA

Exchange 2013 cu21

i don't have a lot of experience working with ssl certificates with Exchange 2013. from what i can gather, i just generate a CSR, submit it to a CA, and i'll get back a renewed certificate good for another year or so.

i did just that, got the .CER and completed the request from ECP. but this morning, a lot of my users (who don't have Internet access) are complaing they are receiving below message when opening their Outlook.

i have also assigned the services required to this new certificate

how do you resolve such problem?

Outlook Search only showing last 30 days (Likely Indexing issue) - Exchange 2013

Hi Everyone,

We've a Server 2012 Remote Desktop implementation with Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2013.

In Outlook users only get the last 30 days of emails when doing searches

-The Exchange has been rebooted and the indexing service is up

-The Content Index for the mail database is fine

-The Windows Search service is up on all RDS servers

-They're not in cached mode

-I've tried rebuilding the index

-They don't have a .ost with not being in cached mode

The one thing I can find that seems to be wrong is that Outlook is not listed in the User's indexing options as below. On the left is my local machine, with Outlook under indexing, on the right is what users in the RDS environment see.

Given everything else I suspect this is the problem but don't know how to get Outlook back into the list of indexed locations.

I've seen advice suggesting a repair install of Outlook but this did not help.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

outlook rule isn't working for all e-mails

Hi all,

I created rule with: If subject contented "phrase" -> Move to XY folder.

if e-mail is sending to distribution group (which I'm member) -> rule working OK
if e-mail is sending to me -> rule not working, but when I run this rule manualy, so e-mails are moved to folder XY

Do anybody has any idea?

Removing exchange 2007 from 2013 coexistence environment problem

I have a 2007-2013 coexistence environment.

My 2007 is on a Server 2008 Enterprise.

When I try to uninstall 2007, it says I need to uninstall the SMTP service first.

When I go to roles and features, it says the roles are in error: 

server manager encountered an unexpected error while collecting data about the status of this computer.

Any idea on how to get around this?

If it comes down to it, how would I completely remove 2007 from my environment if my only option is to unplug my 2007 server?

remove exchange server 2013 mailbox server

hi all , 

we are going to remove one of the exchange server 2013 node from our environment , how to safely remove it from the environment and make sure to any pointer to this node i have done the below : 

  • remove database copy
  • remove the node fro the DAG

is there any other steps need to be done before proceed with remove . i am going to rewove the control panel uninstall .

Enabling Calendar Owner Logging

Hello

I need to enable calendar logging for an account at the owner level. I know how to do this at the Delegate or Non-Admin owner but I cannot find anything on how to track logging for the calendar owner. We have a report of meetings going missing and there are no delegates on the Exchange account so I am looking for a method of tracking the owner actions on their own calendar.

So far, below is what I have enabled. These do work in our environment for another staff but only for delegate tracking.

Set-Mailbox -Identity "username" -AuditEnabled $true
get-mailbox username | Set-Mailbox -AuditEnabled:$true

Confirm auditing with: get-mailbox "username" | fl *audit*

Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance :)

using a private CA with Exchange 2013

with all the past problems (fixed by me) encountered using a commercial CA, i'm thinking of implementing a private CA. some questions come to mind

  • when using a private CA, what will OWA users see? a certificate error? or none since their laptops would already have the required certs from our private CA?
  • what about users checking their emails on their smartphones? will it work as usual or some steps required to make it work with the private CA?

Message Tracking with IP Address of Relay device IP

Hi,

We have Audiocodes IP Manager and we have to relay from IP manager for administration. We have done required configuration for mail relay to particular recipient email addresses with dummy FROM email address.

Now we need to do message tracking to check if mail is relay from IP Manager to defined email addresses. What is the management shell to track the logs by using Sender device IP address (using for relay mail)
