Preventing access to mailbox for specific users. Exchange 2013.

$

Hello,

We are running Exchange 2013.

Management would like to restrict several users from being able to access email outside the network.

I can prevent OWA and Mobile Devices by disabling:
- Exchange Active
- OWA for Devices
- Outlook Web App

However, how do I prevent specific users from being able to setup Outlook at home by connecting via Outlook Anywhere?

Thanks in advance.

502 error

In the course of an online credit card transaction I have received the following error message

Quote Error 502-Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server

Tere is a problem with the page you relooking for and it cannot be displayed. When the Web server( while acting as a gateway or a proxy) contacted the upstream contact server , it reciveds an invalid response from the content serverUNQUOTE .

As a consequence, I was unable to download the e-books I ordered but the CC has probably been charged,

The seller has immediately spotted the problem and asked me to contact them.

Before I do this, I’d like to understand and fix the problem.

I think it is because I have recently updated the hosts file at the root in order to block all the ads and other unsolicited junk . In the process, all the previous 127.0.0.1  entries in the hosts file have now been automatically replaced with  0.0.0.0.

This has completely blocked all the ADS and allied junk, but it may have created another problem, namely this one.

If this is the cause of the problem, how can l fix it. Revert back to the HOSTS file before the update? How

Thanks

In fact we have onpremise distribution group on our exchnage 2013 and when users try to expand it in outlook 2016, outlook give us this error :

Mailbox Got deleted

We have Hybrid setup and a users mailbox got deleted. as per exchange logs it shows that Remove-remotemailbox was run for the mailbox. But the admin is sure that he did not run the command. The logs show that the mailbox was deleted as soon as the admin logged in into the exchange server. We are not able to sort out how this happened as the admin was in a screen share session when this happened. infact he is the one who pointed out the account was deleted during the screen share. Is there any other actions that can trigger this....like the ad object being deleted.....

Powershell Remote note working correctly

I am running enable-mailbox script from Windows 10 with PSVersion 5.1.14393.3053 and nothing happens.  When I run the same script on Window Server 2012 R2 PSVersion 4.0 it works everytime.

Any idea why Enable-Mailbox is unpredictable?  I try to run powershell as admin on Windows 10 but with same result, nothing happens.

General commands are as follows in the script:

$exchangefqdn = "server1"

$ADuser = (Read-Host "`t1. Please enter the AD username (ex. tempuser)")

$Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri http://$exchangefqdn/PowerShell/ -Authentication Kerberos -Credential $exchangecreds -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue -WarningAction SilentlyContinue

Import-PSSession -Session $Session -Prefix AA -DisableNameChecking | out-null

Enable-AAMailbox -Identity $ADuser -WarningAction SilentlyContinue -Confirm:$false -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue | Out-Null

Bouncebacks when sending to sister domain.

I manage two domains.  Both have exchange servers.

When my user tries to send an email from one domain to the other, randomly she will get bouncebacks.  After the bounceback she send again to the same addresses with no problems.

The headers indicate that although she send to user@humboldtwholesale.com, outlook tries to send it to user@house-garden.us, which is the domain she is sending from.   After she gets the bounceback, she can send again to the same address and it goes through.

Here are the headers:

Diffrence between TarpitInterval & MaxAcknowledgementDelay

$

We are having Exchange 2010 Environment. I want to understand the difference between TarpitInterval & MaxAcknowledgementDelay.

On our receive connector TarpitInterval is set to 5 seconds & MaxAcknowledgementDelay is set to 30 seconds.

While tracing SMTP logs I found following for different emails, what is the meaning of it?

Tarpit for '0.00:00:01.622' due to 'DelayedAck',Delivered
Tarpit for '0.00:00:04.180' due to 'DelayedAck',Delivered
Tarpit for '0.00:00:26.520' due to 'DelayedAck',Delivered

If TarpitInterval is set to 5 then why it is showing 26 seconds tarpit in above example logs (3rd one which is in bold)

Thanks in advance.

Hybrid Exchange - w/O365 - Free Busy w/Sister Org.

We previously had an On-Prem EX2010 box (Parent Company) which had Organizational Sharing (Free/Busy) setup with our child company who is already in 0365. This worked beautifully for months - team members from both companies could view free/busy details seamlessly.

We recently ran the HCW on the EX2010 (HQ) box and have been slowly migrating mailboxes to O365. This has worked great as well - good job MS! Slick Stuff!

We noticed that after we ran the HCW and started to migrate mailboxes to O365 that the Free/Busy checks to/from parent cloud -> child cloud accounts were failing.

Parent OnPrem <--> Parent OnPrem == Good (both ways)

Parent OnPrem <--> Parent O365 Migrated Mailbox == Good (both ways)

Parent OnPrem <--> Child Company Mailbox == Good (both ways)

Parent O365 Migrated Mailbox <--> Child Company 0365 Mailbox == FAIL (both ways)

- Autodiscover for parent company is still pointing to OnPrem.

- Autodiscover for child company is pointing to O365

- Parent O365 Sharing Policies include ChildDomain.com and ChildDomain.onmicrosoft.com - Autodiscover endpoint = autodiscover.outlook.com

- Child O365 Sharing Policies include parentdomain.com and parentdomain.onmicrosoft.com - Autodiscover endpoint = autodiscover.parentdomain.com - Application URI = FYDIBxxxxxxx.parentdomain.com

What I suspect is happening, is that the Child 0365 Mailbox is trying to get Free/Busy information for the Migrated Mailbox from the OnPrem box (as per the autodiscover endpoint reference) - and the OnPrem box doesn'tdirectly have the free/busy information for the migrated mailbox.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? Any recommendations? Any way to test my theory? I find it puzzling that its failing BOTH ways - how does the migrated mailbox identify himself to the child O365 instance? -- anything I'm overlooking here?

Would appreciate any help/suggestions you may have.

Change Exchange 2010 IP Address (DAG, HUB, CAS)

$

Hello everybody,

I currently have a environment with servers running under Exchange 2010 running in the same subnet A( let say 10.20.30.x/24)

There is

- 2 HUB Exchange servers

- 2 CAS Exchange Servers

- 3 MAILBOX Servers carrying a DAG

I must split half of the Exchange servers into a new subnet B ( 10.20.50.y/24), the other half staying in the current Subnet A.

What are the important things to consider before applying the IP changes, especially for the DAG Mailbox servers?

Thank you in advance

Give members of dynamic distribution group full access to shared mailbox

$

Hi,

For one of our costumers I have created a new shared mailbox on their exchange server. The users that they want me to give full access are already filtered in a dynamic distribution group. I have tried to look up ways to add these members with full access to the new shared mailbox, but I can't find any powershell command or any information about a possible way to do this.

What I really wanted to do, but is not sure if it's even possible is to create a script for my exchange server/AD, to get the members from the dynamic group and add them to the new security group I have made for access to this mailbox. Preferably it would, when new users are created and added to the dynamic distribution group they would also automatically added to the security group in AD.

Is this at all possible?

Thank you for any help og suggestions!

Shared Calendar - Exchange 2010 & Outlook 2016 Only

We have a user that would like to share an existing Share Calendar with their colleagues.  The person who created the shared calendar is no longer in their team.  When the user right clicks and selects share, the Share Calendar option is greyed out in Outlook.

In testing, even if the user is given owner permissions to a Shared Calendar. The new owner is still unable to Share the calendar (options is still greyed out in Outlook).

Is this by design and is there a way around it?  Most likely the Shared Calendar needs migrating into our Exchange but not into public folders.  I looked at Room Mailbox, but not sure any suggestions?

Many thanks

Is installing Outlook on Exchange Server supported?

$
0
0

I know it's a bad practice and it has even been forbidden on Exchange 2003.

Anyways, a customer has Outlook 2013 installed on Exchange 2013 server. The reason is archiving some mailboxes. It was working until a latest CU was installed, CU 23, i.e. the Exchange server is at version 15.0 ‎(Build 1497.2). The system consists of a single Exchange server.

The problem is that Outlook‎ (installed on Exchange server) cannot authenticate, it just keeps asking for user name and password. I have tried manually to use MAPI/HTTPS connection and Outlook Anywhere connection (RPC/HTTPS). No luck. I have tried with several user names and passwords without luck. The same users connect with Outlook without problems from other computers on the network. Test-OutlookConnectivity on server works OK.

Any help would be much appreciated. Even an official statement from Microsoft that installing Outlook on Exchange server is unsupported. I was searching for it, but could not find it.

Thanks in advance, DuskoS
