Thousands of Event 4625 logged every day

We have one linked mailbox in our Exchange Organisation, which is accessed only by an account from another, trusted, domain.  There are no issues with accessing the mailbox, and everything functions as expected.  However, every time the mailbox is accessed, Event 4625 is logged as below:

An account failed to log on.
Subject:
 Security ID:  SYSTEM
 Account Name:  EXCHANGE$
 Account Domain:  EXCHANGEDOMAIN
 Logon ID:  0x3E7

We are getting thousands of these events logged every day, and this causes an alert which someone has to investigate, just in case there are genuine events that need to be investigated.

Critical Error running Exchange Console 2010 on a Windows 10 PC - Can no longer view mailbox properties

$

I believe this is a recent development.  I run the Exchange Console snap-in from my desktop and I can scroll through the mailboxes, take all sorts of actions, but I cannot right click and select properties - I get a critical error.  If I take the same actions on the Exchange server itself - it operates normally.

Is there a fix?

Here's the error message:

M.E.S.C.T.GetItemRequest.GetProxyInfo 4999 Event IDs being thrown

$

Hey all,

we're running 2 Exchange 2013 CU22 servers in a DAG, virtualized in a VMware environment.  We recently experienced a cloud MTA outage (2-3 hours) that caused email to queue on the servers.  After the outage was resolved, email routes normally however I'm seeing an abundance of EventID 4999s on both Exchange servers.  I'm thinking the outage played a role but I'm not entirely sure how...   I've re-created the mail.queue database file on both Exchange servers per the thread below but that didn't seem to resolve it.

https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2167949-error-4999-on-exchange-2016-cu10

EventID:

Description:
Watson report about to be sent for process id: 11440, with parameters: E12, c-RTL-AMD64, 15.00.1473.003, w3wp#MSExchangeServicesAppPool, M.Exchange.Services, M.E.S.C.T.GetItemRequest.GetProxyInfo, System.InvalidOperationException, 668, 15.00.1473.003.
ErrorReportingEnabled: False

I was thinking 'GetProxyInfo' ties into IIS on exchange attempting to use a proxy.  We have an internal proxy but we've exempted servers and AFAIK nothing's changed with that configuration, and I'm able to access the internet without issue from both Exchange VMs.  assistance welcome.

Change Exchange 2010 IP Address (DAG, HUB, CAS)

Hello everybody,

I currently have a environment with servers running under Exchange 2010 running in the same subnet A( let say 10.20.30.x/24)

There is

- 2 HUB Exchange servers

- 2 CAS Exchange Servers

- 3 MAILBOX Servers carrying a DAG

I must split half of the Exchange servers into a new subnet B ( 10.20.50.y/24), the other half staying in the current Subnet A.

What are the important things to consider before applying the IP changes, especially for the DAG Mailbox servers?

Thank you in advance

Modern PublicFolder Migration Exchange 2013 to EXO Error 500

Hi all,

currently I am on the way to migrate my Exchange 2013 environment to EXO. All mailboxes are already in EXO. No problems came up during the migration period.

But now I need to move the PublicFolder to EXO. And the mess began.

I run the steps described here:

I am getting following error messages in my migration batch:

Can we create an exchange database on a network share folder drive? Can we use Symbolic link to resolve it by using MKLINK utility?

We don't want to build another Exchange server. It will cost more money.

    Please let me know? Thanks

    recipient permission reverse lookup

    Hi experts,

I'd like to use an email address to find which recipient permission it has to one or serveral mailboxes. Or use user name.

What I am thinking about is

    get-mailbox -ResultSize Unlimited | Get-MailboxPermission -User Ken

Get-mailbox -RecipientTypeDetails UserMailbox, SharedMailbox -ResultSize Unlimited | Get-MailboxPermission -User Kim

But none of them seem to work or return anything. To be frank, I'm new to powershell scripts. Any help will be great.

    Thanks!

Exchange 2003 relay mail using oauth2.0?

We have been using a retired Exchange 2003 server to relay outgoing emails on behalf of a billing program, running on a Unix box, that cannot authenticate to Exchange online.

I recently received an announcement that starting October 13 this year, oauth 2.0 will be necessary.

Does anybody know if my version of Exchange Server is even capable of this?  If so, how do I configure it to use oauth 2.0?

    Thanks,

    Hello All,

We have a user who permanently deleted an email and wanted to recover it. I am trying to use Exchange Management Shell to restore the email. They know nothing about the email except it the day it was received into their Outlook mailbox.

Here is what I have done so far:

    1) Verified Discovery Mailbox: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/create-a-discovery-mailbox-exchange-2013-help

    Get-Mailbox -Resultsize unlimited -Filter {RecipientTypeDetails -eq "DiscoveryMailbox"}

    2) Add user's permission to the Discovery Mailbox: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/security-and-compliance/in-place-ediscovery/create-a-discovery-mailbox

Add-MailboxPermission "Discovery Search mailbox" -User 'user name' -AccessRights FullAccess -InheritanceType all

    3) Search and retrieve the deleted email:

Search-Mailbox "user name" -SearchQuery "received:'Mon 8/19/2019'" -TargetMailbox "Discovery Search Mailbox" -TargetFolder "Deleted Items" -LogLevel Full

However when I run this I get this error:

"WARNING: The Search-Mailbox cmdlet returns up to 10000 results per mailbox if a search query is specified. To return
more than 10000 results, use the New-MailboxSearch cmdlet or the In-Place eDiscovery & Hold console in the Exchange

    Using variables in new-addresslist -recipientfilter

    Hi everyone

I have setup Exchange for using in multitenancy mode. Now I am trying to automate the creation of new tenants using a script.

My Problem is the following command:
    New-AddressList -Name MyList -RecipientFilter {((CustomAttribute1 -eq $OU) -and (ObjectClass -eq 'User'))}

Where $OU is a variable which contains the company name, but that doesn't work. I also tried '$OU' instead, no success.
Is there a way to use variables within the -RecipientFilter?

    Regards
    Peter
