Exchange server 2010 AD access

$

Hello Guys,
I have Exchange 2010 Sp3 Environment configured in DAG. DAG is having two members and both are in the same AD site.
AD setup:-
We have two AD sites. Primary Site and DR site. (Exchange is not configured in DR site). Primary Site is having 2 DC's and these are GC's as well.
DR site is having single DC-GC.
Issue:-
I can see that the Mailbox server is doing Active Directory discovery in every 15 mins. Getting event 2080 AD access in event viewer.
The issue is " In site - I can see only single dc " I am expecting two DC's here because we have two dc's in Primary site. "Out of site:- Is showing single DC" that's correct.

I did a small research and came to know that the exchange server uses only single DC and if I want to multiple then I will have to configure static DC's and GC's.

In My case is it correct behavior or do I need to change something?

I started this troubleshooting as one day I saw failover due to connectivity lost from primary DC. I don't want a single point of failure situation again . How my mailbox servers will discover two DC's which are available in the primary site.

Thanks, Chinmay.

Outlook 2013 unable to send (internally and externally) on Exchange 2013 server, OWA items stay in drafts.

While the issue I'm encountering seems similar to many I've seen, none of the solutions I've found has done the trick for me. Lucky me.

I had some trouble but managed to get my 2010 and 2013 clients to connect to the server, and somehow I managed to get 2010 to successfully send mail earlier, but that's not working anymore for some reason.  Probably all the messing around I've done with DNS setup.

Every time I try to send mail, whether internally or externally, the event log throw 5016 events at me with regard to not being able to find the "send mail to the internet" connector and the text messaging delivery agent connector - though I've checked in adsiedit and they show up, I'm not sure how to check their health.

When I try to use OWA to send mail, it remains in drafts and I get a 4999 event in the log, as well as periodically receiving 4999's and 10004's related to the EWS url.

I've tried altering the DNS settings from auto to adapter-specific to custom entries, and none of them seems to work.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, since this is slated to be our new production server as of Monday, and currently while the filesystem and AD are ready, mail is not

Configure IIS for multi-tenant / multi-domain

Hi all,
My environment : Exchange 2013 server CU23 (Client Access + Mailbox Roles) , hosting domain abc.com , SAN certificate : mail.abc.com (for OWA , ECP , OAB, Outlook Anywhere ...) , autodiscover.abc.com

Now I want to host mail for 1 more domain : xyz.com (xyz.com users can use same services as abc.com users) , I purchase another SAN certificate : mail.xyz.com , autodiscover.xyz.com

How should I configure IIS for my goal ? I assume steps to do :
- Copy C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\FrontEnd\HttpProxy to HttpProxy2
- Add new web site in IIS , point to C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\FrontEnd\HttpProxy2
- Convert to application with appropriate application pool
- Config SSL , Authentication settings , assign SAN Certificate of xyz.com domain
- restart IIS

Please give me some advice, thank you very much.

outlook prompts for microsoft account during exchange setup

We moved to Windows 10 last year and users are still (for the moment) on 1809 with Outlook 2019 (not 365).   On some other systems since then with 1903 or 1909, I've had an annoying issue when trying to setup outlook.  I specify an exchange account but then prompts for microsoft account credentials.  I can cancel it, allow it to fail and click retry, cancel the next prompt for a microsoft account then suddenly it configures exchange fine.  On first launch, it will sync the mailbox then say it needs your password.  Close outlook and relaunch and everything is good after that.  Very annoying and really don't want to have this happen when users start using VDI for remote access and have to go through this ridiculous mess to get outlook to configure.  WHY does this happen?  It didn't happen on 1809; only 1903/1909.

Hello

I am a GMAIL user on private domain sending email to a outlook.com user on private domain and continuously get these errors when sending email. These domains are for large multi national companies so changing email addresses is not possible.

The sending email domain has SPF and DKIM records for authentication and is not listed in any SPAM database. We have checked absolutely everything on our end but cannot find an issue.

I have been trough the process with Outlook.com Deliver-ability Support to check the IP's of G Mail servers are not blocked - and as expected they are not.

I am really looking for some help on how to resolve this issue or even someone to contact.

Thank you

Exchange online and Exchange on-prem

Hi,

I moved all my on-prem mailboxes to Exchange online and now I have an empty Exchange 2013 server on-prem.

Is it possible to remove the on-prem Exchange server? Can I still work with all the Exchange attributes on-prem?

I can't find an unambiguously answer to this question, but I am in the middle of a project on this issue.

Hopefully someone can come up with an answer in this one.

Thanks,

Ronald

Can't remove Public Folder Mailbox after Crash

Long story short, we lost the server and database our public folder mailbox was on. No big deal as we haven't used them in 10 years. The issue is I can't seem to delete the now defunct database from the system because it still has the public folder mailbox"Mailbox1" and any commands I can conjure up don't seem to be able to remove it as they all complain the server isn't responding (because the server is dead and not coming back). I'm familiar with ADSI Edit and went in there to dig up the "MsExHomePublicMDB" setting and clear it, but that hasn't seemed to do anything. It still shows in EAC and I can't delete the database. I want to nuke this thing from orbit.

Send connector questions

Hi everybody,

maybe this is a basic question but I have a real doubt about it.
We have an Exchange2013 Organization.

There is an outbound connector to send mails throught smarthost servers, but, instead of servers ip's in this section, there are two "--"

What does it mean?

I've been reading that "--" is something releated to spaceaddress but always refered to domains, not to servers.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

DAG not replicating in Exchange 2010

$

Hello eveyrone,

I apologize fr posting in the Exchange 2013 forums, but i do not see Exchange 2010 any longer. I am upgrading my Exchange servers this year, but before that happens I ran into an issue with my DAG on Server 2010.

I have 2 servers, both Exchange 2010 setup to host 2 databases, with Database A's primary being Server 1 and Database B's primary on Server 2. I am using two networks for the traffic, first for MAPI with replication turned off, and second for Replication with it obviously turned on. I can successfully seed my databases across to the opposite servers, though they always end on a failed state. When I update them though, theyu show as online and healthy, but the copy queue only increases and never copies over, If I then do another udpate, the tranasctions will copy over to the opposite server and the replay queue increases, but it never applies to the database.

If I wait until backups at night, it appears the databases update, the logs truncate and my numbers drop back to 0

I cannot seem to find what is going on here, and I don't know where to look anymore. I would really appreciate ay insight I can get here.

Can I disable Junk e-mail filter? - too many good emails are ending up there.

I need to disable or heavily curtail the filter for junk email.  My current junk mail folder has 20% good important emails in it.   I've messed up on a few business dealings because of this feature.  I've gone online to see how to do this, but no help.  There is no home button in outlook as far as I can see to select junk filters.  right clicking on a folder would be the LOGICAL PLACE to put this functionality...

cheers

Exchange 2010 User gets NDR for copy to former employee

$

Hello everybody,

As there is no Exchange 2010 forum any more, let me ask here please: A customer still runs Exchange 2010 (migration is planned...) and has one user with the following symptom: Whenever she sends an e-mail to another internal user, or whenever she receives an e-mail from internal or external, a mail is sent to her former collegue whose mailbox and AD account are long deleted. We have no Outlook inbox rules, we have no transport rules, the mailbox does not have forwarding to another user configured, and there are no archiving rules.

Get-MessageTrackingLog shows that the Exchange Server sends mail to the former user. The "Source" property is "MAILBOXRULE". So there should be a kind of rule, but I just don't find it.

What could I have missed, where should I look in addition please? Thanks!

Best Regards, Stefan Falk

Prevent Exchange from changing message body

Hello,

I am sending a message to two recipients from an Exim 4.84_2 server. One of the messages is forwarded through an Exchange 2013 server while the other is delivered directly to the recipient's server. Exchange keeps removing the line "This is a MIME-formatted message.  If you see this text it means that your E-mail software does not support MIME-formatted messages." from the message and this breaks the DKIM validation as the body's hash doesn't match with the one in the DKIM header.

The body of the message which is not forwarded through Exchange is this:

This is a MIME-formatted message. If you see this text it means that your
E-mail software does not support MIME-formatted messages.

As you can see, the only diference between the two messages is the missing first lines.

So you know how to avoid Exchange changing the message body?

transfer TB to the cloud

I have an Exchange 2013with the latest roll up applied, I know it will be released in October of this year.

I got a 100 Mb internet bandwidth.

I want to upload 2TB of my 40 user mailboxes to the O365 cloud. in one weekend.

How does Exhange 2013 limit me in the upload, knowing that my server is virtual and has a 1 Gbps card.

There is some alternative solution that I can apply so that the Exchange does not limit me in the upload

Renew Exchange SAN Cert

$

Hi all,

We purchased our mail.xxxx.xxx SSL certificate from GODaddy.  I downloaded the zip file and extracted the files.  I followed their instructions on the site to install the certificate files.

First, you must install the intermediate certificate to your Microsoft® Exchange Server 2016. (did this)

Then, to install the primary SSL certificate, you must complete the pending request, import the certificate file, and then select the services to which the certificate applies.

I tried to do the certificate request but was unsuccessful so I called GoDaddy.  the Tech I talked to said that I did not have to submit a request; just download the files and use them.  I am now stuck. I can't figure out how to renew my certificate using the RENEW button. I have put the files in a share and gave the Exchange Trusted SubSystem modify rights. I have also opened the *.pem file from GoDaddy, copied the"begin certificate..to end certificate key", and created a file with extension Exchange.req (found this on another post)  Unfortunately, I  get this error: "please use a valid file name".  When I open the *.crt file that I downloaded from GoDaddy, the correct certificate information is there.  Perhaps I just need to import the *.crt file?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks,

Sorry if I put this in the wrong forum.

Bob
