Directaccess on a Exchange-Server 2013 ? Possible ?

$
0
0

After 2 unsuccessful attempts to deploy DirectAccess-Feature on an existing Exchange 2013-Server, let me ask the question if this is possible.

What I already have ...

- Exchange 2013 on

- a Windows 2012 (NOT R2!)

-1 NIC

- local Domain behind a NAT

- 1 public IP-Adress (IPv4)

- Successful working VPN-Access via PPTP and SSTP

- I do not have L2TP and IPSEC-VPN

I read a lot about DirectAcces, but in fact, nothing about the combination Exchange and DirectACcess on 1 machine.

The only information was that it is not recommended to have Web-Applications and DirectAccess on one machine, but it works.

Any ideas ?

Exchange 2013 Public Folder - Calendar - Not Updated - No Cached mode

$

I have a calendar admin that is updating a holidays calendar that is in a public folder on Exchange 2013, all users are running Outlook 2013.

For some reason, some users see the updates she's making, some dont. As of yesterday I'm one of the users who doesn't, As of today my calendar is up to date. I'm running Outlook in online mode, no cached mode for my mail or for shared mailboxes.

My calendar admin is running Outlook 2013 in online mode with no cached mode.

Is there a reason why I could go 24 hours without seeing her update, even though we're both pointing to the same Public Folder Calendar without cached mode?

Exchange 2013 throttling attribute for outlook folder count limit

Hi,

previously in exchange 2010 there were throttling attribute EWSFindCountLimit for outlook folder limit 1000 which we use to modify incase folder count more than 1000 to resolve the conversation history saving issue.

Now in exchange 2013 this throttling attribute EWSFindCountLimit has been removed.

Now which throttling attribute in exchange 2013  use to resolve the conversation history save issue if outlook folder count more than 1000

Thanks

Exchange 2013 Toolbox crashes when opening

Hi,

I have a hybrid 2010-2013 environment.  ECP, OWA on Exchange 2013 all work fine.  But when opening up the Exchange 2013 Toolbox, I get the following error:

Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Directory, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)

I just recently updated the Exchange environment to CU11.

Any idea what can be causing this?

Thanks,

M

Hi,

I recently made an update to the Microsoft Exchange 2013 Cu10 (KB3124557).  When the update were installed, I noted that the disk space quickly went down, which meant I had to Stopa installation and install more disk space.

After this stopped Exchange Server to work. Owa, ECP showed only a blank page and I can not start the Exchange transport. The only message i get is "Error 1068". I have the following error in my event log like

Hardware requirements for Exchange Server 2013

$

Hi,

I am wondering what is required to run an exchange server for very few users. Like under 10. I know that I could use Office 365 for this matter, but I simply like learning new stuff by doing.

I am of the understanding that I'm gonna need two dedicated servers. One for Active Directory and DNS, and one for the Exchange server. Is this correct, or can I run two virtual servers within one server that has these roles? I would really appreciate if someone provided an example server configuration for this.

Thanks in advance for all help this community can give me.

Kind regards
Kristoffer

Get-ServerComponentState command

I have a LAB exchange 2013 CU9 Environment that consist of a 2 multirole node DAG (MBX1 and MBX2) and two dedicated CAS servers (CAS1 and CAS2) and two Dedicated mailbox servers (MBX3 and MBX4). I decided to upgrade to CU11. I upgraded MBX3 and MBX4 with no issues. I upgraded the CAS1 and CAS2 and no issues with the upgrade itself. However, now when I ran Get-ServerComponentState on the CAS servers locally I get  "Get-ServerComponentState : The term 'Get-ServerComponentState' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again". If I ran the command on the MBX2 or MBX3 it runs fine. I run the command remotely from MBX2 or MBX3 against CAS1 or CAS2 it works fine. I confirmed that I was able to run the command locally on CAS1 and CAS2 while they were on CU9. If this an RBAC issue? I am logged with admin account which created and setup the environment.

Outlook 2010 and 2013 are unable to connect but OWA (and mail routing) works fine

$

Hi-

Not sure why but this past Sunday (just after DST adjustment) outlook clients (using 2010 and 2013) were unable to connect to an Exchange 2013 server.  OWA and mail routing (internal and external) is working fine.  I've even tried on multiple machines and all of them experience the same issue.  On a new machine with a fresh version of outlook 2013 installed here is what happens:

Click on Outlook 2013
Click Next until the account setup is displayed.
Name and email is auto-populated
Established network connection is good
Searching for email address settings is good (once the self-signed exchange 2013 cert is accepted)
And then the logging onto the mail server fails.  The first pop-up is:
The Connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.
Clicking "OK" is followed up with a window with the Microsoft Exchange connection info.
It lists Microsoft Exchange server which is populated with: GUID@<domain suffix>
Mailbox which is populated with: =SMTP:<Valid Email address>

On the Exchange Server I have noticed that the Web Management Service (WMSVC) is stopped and will not start.  Starting the service outputs:
EventID 7024
"The Web Management Service terminated with the following service-specific error:  Unspecified error"

Not really helpful :)

Since this is only happening with Outlook on multiple clients I'm expecting something with Exchange or the ability for outlook to connect to exchange.

Thanks in advance!

Dear friends,

We have two IPs. One IP (1.1.1.1) for outbound mail (we have NATed overload on router) and one for inbound mail (2.2.2.2 - MX record point to this IP address)
So, in this situation, Can I create a SPF record !? ( My understand that SPF depend MX record but MX record not point to 1.1.1.1 --> I have confused! )

Hope your help,
Many thanks!

Exchange Server 2013 missing emails

$

0

I'm running Exchange Server 2013 CU4 (I know, I'm going to update this after hopefully fixing this issue) on Server 2008 and have one user that has discovered they're missing a couple emails from December.

Both emails had attachments.

Where I found the emails:

- Our SPAM firewall, both emails were delivered.

- Our backup server, both emails were in the users Inbox and I can restore them.

Where I didn't find the emails:

- Inbox in Outlook on her PC, Outlook Web Access, iPhone, or iPad

- The Outlook Deleted Items.

- The Recover Deleted Items.

- Any searches I did using Exchange Powershell New-MailboxSearch.

The user doesn't have any rules or other accounts setup in Outlook 2010.

The user connects to her Exchange Inbox using Outlook 2010, an iPhone and an iPad. I've verified that emails deleted from all three end up in her Deleted Items or the Recover Deleted Items.

As part of trying to figure out what's going on, I'm trying to find a scenario, other than dragging and dropping a message to an Inbox sub-folder, where emails deleted/removed from the Inbox will not show in the Recover Deleted Items.

Looking forward to your guys input.

-Dennis

Incoming mailbox items redirected to deleted items

Hello,

A user with a mailbox in our Exchange Server 2013 organization receives mail with a subject containing ‘PL-Overleg’. This mail is redirected instantly to its ‘delete items’ folder. This mailbox does not contain any inbox rules.

This issue does not apply to other mailboxes in our organization.

Is there a way to track the root cause for this issue?

Thank you in advance,

Nieck

Cluster service on members of the DAG seemed to have an issue last night. All looks ok now.

get-clusternetwork | fl reports everything as UP. (on all servers)

However, ClusterNetwork is reporting as FAILED for all member servers. Error is :-

Network "ReplicationDagNetwork01" has no network interface for server. Correct the physical network configuration so that each mailbox server has exactly one interface on each subnet. The use set-databaseavailabilitygroup with the -discovernetworks parameter to configure the database availability group networks..

This was working before so config is correct. All network interfaces are up. Should I run set-adatabaseavailabilitygroup

Question and advice

Hi all!

New to all this Exchange thing. I've just gotten installed an Exchange server on a virtual machine. I've managed to connect an Outlook client to the Exchange server. So far so good.

Some background:

The reason why I started to experiment with Exchange is because the solution I have today doesn't allow me to edit my employees calendar.  I have today a web solution via my domain provider. Regarding the mail and web mail services provided I'm happy. They even have some sort of Active Exchange so that you can sync calendars quite successfully.

The reason

The reason why I'm writing to the community is because of my anxiety to change the MX records to point to my server. My knowledge about Exchange is not to that extent, so if something goes wrong, it goes wrong very bad, and I don't really have an urge to spend to many nights fixing problems that could have been avoided for my live business.

Advice:

What is you opinion about the situation? What are you immediate thoughts?

Question:

Say that it would be most interesting for me to just be able to access my calendar from my phone. Would it be possible to create a different domain like: mail.domainname.se while still keeping domainname.se as it is for the e-mail? In that way I figure both my Exchange Server would be accessible on the internet whilst keeping the as-it-was for my mail.

Looking forward to your response,
